> [RP] Mortimer Castle

Kennagillian
She started to run but fell to her knees and was sobbing, nearly trying to fly when she felt his grip release. She crawled the rest of the way to her father turning quickly to see if the monster was giving chase. He was running away! She put her hand to her neck to rub where he had hurt her and cried harder.. afraid now for where he might go or that he might come back, clutching her father's leg. She couldn't stand, her legs were shaking, her whole body in tremors.

Ladygina
She kept walking aimlessly through the halls of the castle, not knowing where she was going, or what she would run into. She heard screams and shouts outside, and wondered how many lives had been lost this night. She wanted so desperately to find Kenna and the rest of her family, but she did not know where they were. She thought of just finding a room and going inside and locking the door and staying there until someone found her, but she thought better of it, for fear the wrong person would find her...again. So she kept going, taking each turn, each hallway, cautiously, the sword in her hand heavy and alien to her....she knew she would never get used to having one of these things in her hand......

Viceroy
Viceroy gently pulled his daughter up into his arms. He held her close feeling how weak she felt. "It's going to be okay," he said soothingly. He knew she had been affected. "Come on, let me get you somewhere safe," he stated.

Michael turns down the hallway and nearly runs into Lady Gina. He sees the blood on the sword she's holding with determination and the blood on her. Michael lowers his sword. "M'Lady, this hall way is safe. I see you have defended yourself," he commented looking around.

Pliny
Pliny approached the sounds of blades clashing on stealthy feet, making barely a sound himself, determined not to let a soul know of his presence before he wanted it revealed. His sword was out, but held behind him, so no reflection could show his approach. He lurked in the shadows, watching the battle as Drest struck into the side of a man Pliny did not recognize. He frowned slightly as Drest spoke, then stepped abruptly forward, bringing his blade around to the back of the other man's neck, drawing a dagger with his free hand in case of trouble. "Drop your weapon, now." He ordered in a cold, harsh voice, ready to straighten his arm and kill the man if there was even the slightest hint of dissembling or resistance. "Immediately, or you die."
Ladygina
As she was rounding a corner, she was nearly mowed down by someone, and her heart jumped into her throat! She just knew it was another killer, but as she looked up, she saw it was Michael!

Relief flooded her body, and she began trembling. "Michael, thank Jah! I have been wandering around for what seems like hours." Looking down at her clothes and at the sword, still shining with the killer's blood, she said, "Aye, a man posing as a Mortimer guard managed to get Angela and I in a room and locked us in....that was when I realized he was not a guard...but a hired killer for this man Ignatius. He ... he tried to kill me....and Angela....Angela fought to protect me...." She burst into tears. "Michael he killed her....I ... somehow she managed to wound him first, and I was able to kill him.....then I saw her on the floor...bleeding...I could not save her....Michael, I'm so sorry!" She dropped her sword and brought her hands to her eyes and cried, sinking to the floor, her back against the wall....

Michael frowned and looked at Lady Gina. He put a hand on her shoulder. "M'lady, I'm sure you did all you could. I'm glad you are safe. Angela knew her duty... and she died doing it," he looked down. He felt a pang in his heart. How could he express it? Him and Angela had been a fixture in Lord Viceroy's house for many years. He had come to respect her even if they didn't agree on some matters of important. In the end, he always knew he could rely on her and vice versa. Their relationship was unique, but then again how could it not. He was a royal servant... and she was born a servant. Different classes, but yet...

He shook his thoughts. "Lady Gina...," he whispered softly. So much he wanted to say. So much he wanted to comfort her, but how could he? There were no words that would make it better. He knew it. He felt the same way she did. He felt a part of him screaming out in rage wanting to find and kill the person who paid the killer who killed her, but alas he knew this rage would not do any good. He's only make the situation worse.

Looking down at Lady Gina, he hid his feelings. "We must hurry up and check for the others. When was the last time you saw anyone else," he asked.

She knew what he said was right, but it didn't make the pain any less raw.

She knew he was trying to be strong for her, but she also knew he was feeling his own pain. She didn't know how close he was to Angela, but he knew they had known each other for quite some time, and they were both very loyal to her cousin, and now to the rest of the Mortimers. Looking up at him, she nodded, and wiped her eyes. She knew they needed to get out of there.

She stood up, picking up the sword and said, "Not since we were all together in the front room...except for when Angela and I were...in the other room...."

Kennagillian
She let him take her, and somewhere in the moment, her surroundings faded. Her hand was in his. She could not speak...

The blow to his shoulder left him off guard, took the air from his lungs and left him defenseless as his sword fell lax and touched the ground, He looked up to meet Drest eye to eye just as he felt someone from behind. Internally, he scolded himself. They were like cockroaches, he should have been able to guess they would gather like insects in the dark...

If only this lad knew what he was saying. He had but one reason to drop his sword and that is what he did. Putting his hands in the air. He could have let them kill him, but he needed to see the man he had come for.

He looked at Drest with contempt and spat at the ground in front of him.

Drestakil
Drestakil looked down at the gobbet of spittle on the ground, then back at Casimir's face. His eyes hardened. He sheathed his sword and stepped forward till his face was inches from Casimir's. Sweat ran down Casimir's temples and he was breathing hard and fast. Drest watched his expression harden also. He expected them to kill him, that was certain.

"You are not worth staining my blade with your blood. You are a coward and a thief, hiring others to do YOUR dirty work. You will find no respect in this place from anyone. You alone are responsible for the deaths of many this night and maybe more. I do not know. I DO know that at least one of your tribe is dead and hopefully more. I hope to have the pleasure of killing more of them before this night is over. YOU, however, I will leave for Viceroy to make a decision on what will be your fate."

After saying those words Drest brought his right arm up and around and smashed his fist into Casimir's jaw. Casimir fell to the ground senseless.

Drest looked at Pliny and said, "I'm glad you came along when you did..otherwise I might have had to kill him," he said and smiled. "Lord knows we wouldn't want THAT."

Michael looked at Lady Gina. "Let's go to the stables area. Maybe we'll run into more people that way," he stated in a world of shock.

Ladygina
"The stables? That's where Kenna was headed..that's where the fire seemed to have started." She worried about what they might find once they got there, but she let Michael lead the way, and she followed, keeping her eyes on him so as not to lose him, but always listening for sounds behind them, in case anyone unwelcome showed up.

Pliny
"No, of course we would never want such a thing as that." Pliny said drily, bending down to the prone Casimir. He stripped off Casimir's belt and his own, tying the man's hands behind his back and tying his feet together with them, testing the knots carefully to ensure that they were tight and secure. He crouched lower, then hoisted the man onto his shoulder and stood easily. "Shall we go then?" He asked, lifting his eyes to Drest. "Find whoever needs to be found to sort out this guy and preferably someone who can give me a nice strong drink and explain what the hell I've just been fighting for?"
Drestakil
"Hmmmm...," Drestakil said, "...I haven't seen anyone but you and our other 'friend' since I left the stables earlier." He looked over at where the stable fire had almost burnt itself out. Flames still rose here and there, glowing red-hot coals lit up the night with a hellish light. 'How long has it been since I found the first one of this one's henchmen?' Drest wondered to himself.

"Have you seen anyone around? The one we fought killed at least two people that I know of and I haven't seen anyone since then. I'd like to know what has happened to Kenna and Ladygina. Viceroy can take care of himself. Kjolmar and Jarlath should be here still, but again, I haven't heard anything or seen anyone. It can't be more than a couple of hours since we were all standing in the stables looking at a dead body. Let's take this," and he pointed at the body of Casimir lying over Pliny's shoulder, " and put it in a secure place. I don't want him getting out."
