> [RP] Mortimer Castle

--Michael_angelo
Michael shakes his head at the noise. "Be quiet you. I believe you two will be guarding this criminal," he said motioning for the two guards to come forward and meet the man.

Drestakil
"Where are we going?" asked Drestakil as he pushed away the flask. "I'm not thirsty, I've already had water." He raised himself up a bit more to see out of the carriage. They were heading through a thin forest to the south. 'Hmmm,' thought Drest, 'are we going to Arundel?'

He took Ladygina's hand in his and squeezed it reassuringly. "You're looking much better now that we're out of the castle. Who did you leave back there? Someone has to make sure Casimir doesn't get loose and try anything."

Kenna's head turned and she looked at her Uncle's weary face, his eyes were telling the story of pain, but his words seemed hopeful.

"Welcome back, bright eyes" she smiled at him, then let he and Gina continue to speak to one another.

She knew Gina would reassure him and her focus should remain on the roads. She did wonder about the situation back at the castle, but she had heard her father busying himself with penning letters to request aid for Ignatius. She wanted to get somewhere for the night, settle in after having Drest looked at, and then return before the end of the week so long as her Uncle would be well enough to travel.

While she was thinking, something fluttered in her stomach. Without hesitation, she took one hand and felt it. The baby was moving, and in spite of everything, that small moment gave her hope that maybe, just maybe, when this was all over, there would be a new beginning for the entire family.

Chandrea
Chandrea nodded shortly as the man confirmed her guess. This was the man she was to guard, and apparently, the screaming man and his friend were her co-workers. This ought to be interesting at least. Well, looking on the bright side, he hadn't yet made any suggestive comments.

She took a more careful look at their prisoner. It seemed that he was no stranger to hard work, and, as she had already observed, he knew how to use his words to his advantage. He would need careful watching. And, unfortunately, she was stuck with a man who screamed in a dark room. Chandrea sighed and muttered under her breath, "How do I ever get into these situations."

Ignoring the other two less than capable jesters, while snarling at the servant who acted as if he were a man of pedigree, Ignatius turned and stared directly at the girl who appeared to be mumbling under her breath just loud enough for him to hear. The answer came quick enough this time before someone could answer for him, again.

"Not sure about that, girl, but if you have half the sense those two fools seem to be sharing, then you'd go home" he said, with a tone as cold as the wall he was leaning against. Then he smiled again.

Chandrea
Startled slightly that he had been able to hear her, she covered it quickly. She could sense the threat behind his words, but refused to honor it. "Well, I have never been hailed as the most sensible...girl. Afraid you're going to be stuck with me." Glancing back at her fellow guards, she shook her head slightly. This was going to be a long job.
Ladygina
As Kenna looked back and spoke to Drest, Gina looked back in the direction they had come from, maybe to reassure herself they were not being followed. She knew Kenna was watching the roads too, so when Drest spoke again, she concentrated on him.

"Where are we going?"

"We're goint to Sussex. We need to have you checked out to make sure you're alright. You had us worried back there Cousin." He pushed the flask away, and took her hand and squeezed it, and said,

Smiling a small smile, she said, "Aye, I am glad to be out of there I must admit, but still unsure of what we are to do. But don't you worry about Casimir one bit. Your brother and Michael are taking care of him. He is sending for aid for him, and I'm sure Geo is seeing to it that he is being well guarded. I'm sure everything is under control. We just need to get you taken care of." She hoped it wouldn't take them long to reach Sussex. She wanted off these roads. She wanted to be back home, in her own bed. She was so very tired. Once this ordeal was over, she was sure she would sleep for days.........

Shamgar
"She's staring at me. She's talking to the prisoner and staring at me."

"Maybe she likes you?" suggested Yven.

I opened my mouth, then closed it, then opened it again, pondering.
"Maybe...." I drew out the word, leaving a lingering pause.

"We'll capatilize later," Yven assured patting my shoulder, "Right now I want that man out from behind those bars so I can give him a piece of my blade. He just called us idiots."

I glanced at my friend, startled, "He did? I don't remember...he did?" I sighed, "Totally missed that."

Yven rolled his eyes unseen and decided it would be on his and this girl's shoulders that this man doesn't run away, I would only blumber about and...scream.
Viceroy
Viceroy enters the room. "Ah, very well. It is good to see you both. I assume that Michael Angelo has filled you in on your duties," Viceroy comments.
Chandrea
Fighting the urge to spring to attention as the newcomer came in, Chandrea nodded. "Sort of, Sir. He told us we would be guarding this man. Is there anything else we should know? Are we to keep him here?" Lace shifted in the pack the young woman still wore on her back. "Oh, and is there a place I may lay my pack?" It wasn't that she was at all embarrassed by her little cat tagging along on her trips, but it didn't often inspire confidence in those who were already unsure of her because of her gender. Seeing her cuddle her kitten, she didn't look all that guard-like.
Shamgar
I nodded, "Aye, he has, but like the lady said, we don't know much beyond that we're guarding him." I glanced sideways at her and noticed that her pack seemed to be moving, I reached out a finger and tapped her shoulder, "Erm, Miss...your pack...it's alive..."
I stepped back quickly laying a hand on my weapon preparing to draw lest the object choke its carrier and go for everyone else.

What? I've seen it happen before.

Honest.

Yven did the same, taking a different position in case it decided to make a run for it, maybe in this manner we could direct the demonic thing into the cell and it could kill our charge. Problem solved, we can all go home.
Viceroy
Viceroy raised his eyebrow seeing the pack move. "You two will be responsible for guarding him when we move him and during the trial. I need to make sure the Judge is ready," he commented.
Chandrea
The young woman closed her eyes as a flush spread across her cheeks. Hoping it was still dim enough in the room for no one to notice, she sighed softly and turned to face her fellow guard. "There is no need for alarm. Unless you are afraid of cats that is." Reaching around, Chandrea opened the mouth of her pack and brought Lace out, a position the black and white cat was very pleased about. She had spent enough time cooped up in the pack and wanted to get down and prowl - the thing she did best. "Everyone, meet Lace. Lace, meet...I don't believe we have been introduced yet, Sirs." Chandrea looked quizically at her new partners.

Hearing their employer speak, she turned to face him. "And so we shall, Sir. If he is to remain in this cell until that time, we should be able to accomplish it easily." Better to put a brave front on for him, reguardless of what she personally thought of the pair she would be sharing the job with. Ah, well, it was true enough that if he was to remain in his cell, she should be able to keep watch on him herself.
Shamgar
"I'm Shamgar, son of Anath, and this is Yven, my closest friend and advisor." I bowed slightly, "A pleasure, I'm sure."
I reached out and scratched the cat on the head and under the chin, "You is a cute kitty, isn't you a cute kitty? Yes you is, yes you is!"
Yven coughed and nudged me, "Uh, Shammy, not in front of the others, please."

I straightened, clearing my throat, "Yes, yes, of...of course, not in front...yup..." In the end, it was a relief to know that the pack wouldn't go on a killing rampage, BUT our charge was still alive and that was disappointing enough for me. I eyed the man behind bars, keeping my hand on my sword hilt, needless to say, this man was worth the money we were being paid.
Quite unofficially, this woman had become our spokes...woman, and I prefered to let her do all the spoking, er, speaking. I wasn't much of a speech man. I considered insulting the prisoner, but decided that it wouldn't go well seeing as he had to come out of that cell sometime.
Drestakil
Drestakil considered, then said, "You're wasting your time taking me to Sussex. If it's infection you're worried about, anyway. I've never had a wound infected since that time years ago when I got a stomach wound." He laid back in the carriage. "I can assure you, the best thing you can do for me is to take me back to Mortimer Castle. If you keep trying to take me to Sussex, I'll just come right back there."

He chuckled and told Gina, "Besides, how am I going to explain to Mezz that I was with two pretty girls, one married, for days and nothing happened. Even I don't believe it. I can just hear her now-'...and one of them was your NIECE! FOR SHAME Drest! Don't try to tell me nothing happened!'
