Kennagillian
It was so hard to see him strain, to watch him try and recover his memories. Kenna looks at him honestly and explains as best as she can.
"Gina and I began gathering records shortly after we met. They were scattered all about England and had never really been looked after in quite awhile. The county's clerk of Plymouth was a frail withered old man and he'd put many of them together himself over the years. He'd said at one time our family's heraldry was originally last held by Roger and his wife Ana before they decided to hire his uncle to oversee the task. He mentioned to me on a second visit that there were wars and famine, sickness. I got the impression that this would be during the time that the family branched out and lost touch. When the rouges came through town they often targeted the churches first, setting them on fire he said. No one was there with enough vested interest to truly protect our history. After our private meeting, I had good intentions. However, Gina wasn't always able to travel and neither was I, so we've not found much more to add since. As you can see the recording of births and deaths are quite collected for a stretch of time. Then it branches wide and fades" she traced her finger across the page " and from everyone I have met in England their families are much the same. We've all been blessed with many cousins, some we never knew about" she looked at him and smiled genuinely "I really wish I could be of more help. If you think you'd like to come with me, we could visit the College mid week together and go through the scrolls I have in our halls? If nothing else you could learn more about.. well you could learn more about your family" she said, reaching out to touch his hand.
"I believe what you say to be true, you know. It is tragic what happened, but with this proof now at least you know who you are and everything you have to face in the future will not be as lonely when you have family to support you. I did not suffer injury as you have which made me forget, but I was young and on my own. I was told I was abandoned at birth, but that's another story I can tell you sometime. I don't care what anyone tells you though, knowing where you came from puts everything into a center for you, gives you a perspective on life. But really, you poor soul! A Mortimer.." she shook her head candidly "..you could have done better for yourself, I think" she kidded, aiming to lighten the seriousness of the moment.
