> [RP] Mortimer Castle

--Draknalor
Drak is still outside in the courtyard a bit close to the main entrance of the castle where all are staying, he sits down behind a bush, and holds up the stick that he was using earlier, then wraps it with a piece of cloth on top of it. Drak takes out a little bottle of liquor later on and damps the piece of cloth with it.

He then cuts to lower edge of the stick into many small pieces shaped like an ascending triangles, and places them in his pocket.

After he was done, he holds the stick, and stands up to reckon the place for any patrolling guards.

Kennagillian
Jarlath rejoined the group, and she could tell something had him thinking. The more he spoke, the more she realized that things were beginning to take a turn for the worst. She suddenly felt even more nervous, his words quite clear in their meaning. It was no wonder that Kjol stood silent. Kenna adverts her eyes to Pliny and whispers something to him about walking away with her for a second, telling her father and Kjolmar, even Lath.. "Excuse me for just a moment, I need to go in and check on Gina, she's just in the sitting room with your servant father.." she walks off, lingering a little waiting for Pliny to catch up.

She begins to talk in a low voice "I had something I needed to tell you, something we never got out of the way a few months ago when our trip was suddenly cancelled" she sighed, still looking around, feeling like that even the birds were hushed. Everything had gone quiet.

Pliny
Pliny frowned slightly and followed Kenna, his sword hissing from its sheath as they moved away from the others. "I'll keep an eye on things, everyone should stay in pairs at the least." He said quickly to the others, providing a hasty and fairly shoddy excuse. "What's wrong?" He asked Kenna, his voice barely audible as his eyes scanned the area around them. "What do you need to tell me?
Kennagillian
She paused a few feet from the steps that would lead them back into the castle, she felt the heavy weight of her weapon on her hip and the burden of the story she was about to tell, on her tongue. The words were in a mess in her mind so she told it as best she could " This is going to seem odd I am sure, with everything as it is" she put her hands on her hips and spilled the rest out without taking a breath "Sinda came to me months ago, told me to send for you after we found out about father, she said that you all had spoke and that she knew something. Took me quite sometime in that room to understand what was happening int he confusion of finding out my father was actually alive, but even more time to figure out that after serving with you in political arenas, passing you on the street, and laughing with you in the tavern that... well.. that my Uncle has a son and that.. well alright Pliny..you are my cousin and Drestakil Mortimer is your father, there I said it" she looked around again, almost wishing Drest would just appear and explain this better, she was doing a horrible job of it.

She went on, mumbling the thoughts as they came that had been whirling around.

"We were all supposed to go together to Sussex, but plans ceased, the wedding took place, for the longest time we didn't know where you were...and now well, Sinda took a trip almost a month ago and I haven't heard a word from her, I am worried..." her voice trailed off, realizing that she was talking too much.

Pliny
Pliny was not entirely surprised, Sinda's reaction all that time ago had given him a hint this was coming. He was still quite shocked, though, and could think of nothing to say but "Where is he?" Then, going slightly red over the rudeness of the exclamation, he added "Sorry, but after 19 years of waiting and frustration, it's agonising to be this close..." He paused, thinking. "Actually, that's complete rubbish. The priority here is to sort out this Ignatius guy. We can play happy families after I've rammed six inches of metal through his gut. Now let's go find this Gina, whoever she is, if we have to, or get back to the others and work on remedying the current situation."
Kennagillian
Kenna didn't move, even with Pliny's insistance "That's all well and good you see, I agree with paying mind to what's ahead. However, the thing I am hinting at, Jah knows sometimes I make no sense at all, is that Sinda is missing.. just like Rae and Loren, bad things I fear, something linked to this even. Your father took off on his own, already killed one man" she was speaking in broken sentences, best to sum it up ".. well I think maybe you should find him and stay with him, I can go to Gina. Take Lath with you and father, I don't know. Uncle Drest always seems to like handling things on his own, but we've too much at stake to lose anyone else right now and I think with things being unfinished between the two of you, you need to see him" she folded her arms and felt chilly in the abscence of wind.

After studying the area carefully, Drak memorizes the number of patrolling guards and their locations. He sneaks past them making his way towards the entrance to the Castle.

Drak then takes out the small triangular shaped wood, and sticks them underneath the large entrance door, adding more pressure on them so they get well fixed getting the door stuck. Whispers to himself, "That should get them stuck inside."

Moments later, Drak gazes around to see if anyone is near, seeing that the coast is clear, he takes out the bottle of liquor and starts starts spilling it all over the place while making sure that the stains are somehow close to each other. Then pulls out two flint rocks, moves to the outside area of the spilled liquor, and starts smacking them together throwing sparkles.

As soon as the nearest liquor stain catches flame, it quickly spreads all over the place, making it impossible to get anywhere close to the gate entrance.

He then makes a run around the castle, and to the back where the stable is. He checks if there was anyone around, and realizes only the stable boy tending for the horses at the side of the stable. Drak unsheathes his sword slowly while sneaking behind him. He holds the sword downwards, and approaches with both hands to the front. As soon as he was behind him, Drak covers the stable boy's mouth pulling him close then slits his throat. Then whispers into his ear, "Rest now."

Once the boy is dead, Drak throws him away. He later on hides behind the stable, and starts lighting the stick he made earlier, then passes it along all the side of the stable for it to burn, and throws the torch a place near to extend the fire.

At that time, the fires at the front gate were spreading insanely burning the outside yard and blocking the entrance. While the Stable is starting to burn out, Drak makes his way towards the backward entrance, but realizes someone is near there, so he hides close.

Pliny
Pliny waited for a long moment, his eyes on his cousin, his thoughts flying. "OK." He said abruptly, gruffly. "I'll go and find him. You go and find Gina. But draw your sword first, there's no point having the thing ready at hand without it being literal." He turned on his heel and moved off into the darkness, his senses honed to lethal sharpness. He slipped behind a tree to look back at Kenna, making sure she got up the steps and that no-one followed her.
Ladygina
As LadyGina's heart was about to burst through her chest, Michael Angelo walked into the room. Letting out the breath she had been holding for what seemed like hours, she said, "Not looking for one, but I fear one has found us. The air is thick with the tension. I have been explaining to Angela, I do not know how to fight Michael. I fear if this is indeed a fight, I will be a burden to my family."

Kennagillian
Current Location: In the Castle Kitchens, then to the sitting room.

Kenna left Pliny to his own devices, taking the steps that led to inside. She found the stairwell leading to rooms beneath the kitchen. The cellar rooms were dank and musty, she’d not come down this way before but she knew there was a cell room down one of these halls and she needed to see if they were in good condition. Without a candle she was left merciless, feeling her way against the wall. She heard Gina’s voice carry and echo, distort again the cold stone in an eerie fashion. For a moment she thought to press on, but changed her mind. She need not be caught in a dirty dark hall on her own, she had better follow her first intentions, to check on her cousin. Someone was with her at least, that much she could make out from the other voice she heard.

Back into the light, Kenna waited for her eyes to adjust and then went to the basin to wash her hands. The kitchen was empty and it seemed the house was empty too. She was thinking deeply about everyone she loved, her sense of security lost, her fear for her family noticeable in her shaking hands. The cool water felt nice, she leaned her face down and washed it as well.

Taking a towel from the table, she dried her face and set it back down. Then went to the sitting room to speak with Gina.

She found Angela, Gina, and Michael talking with one another. Greeting them with a silent nod she spoke first to the servants.

“Michael, father is outside speaking with a good friend of mine, Lord Kjolmar Phoenix, Jarlath is with them both. Would you please take drinks for them and yourself, and stay with father. I care not for what he orders of you, for his sake and my love for him, do not leave his side. Drest has gone off on his own, Lord Pliny has just arrived as well and is off to pair with him, if he should find him. We need to think smart and stay alert, all of us, even the staff” she turned to Angela.

“Miss Angela, bless you for keeping my cousin’s company, you are a dear sweet woman” she went over to her and squeezed her hand in affection, taking Gina’s hand too “.. we will be alright, father would not let harm come to us” she sighed and released their hands.

“Gina darling, how many are in service to the family? Do you keep numbers of servants and men?” Kenna was curious about their security, how many hands were willing and able to help if need be, how many were in danger if a threat did arise?

Ladygina
Hearing another pair of footsteps, Lady Gina is relieved to see Kenna come into the sitting room. Her relief showing obvious upon her face, she answers her cousin's question as best she could. "Well, to my recollection, we have about 20 servants, including housemaids, cooks, and stable hands. That doesn't include Michael and Angela and the Darcy's. But, I've left the Darcy's to attend Mortimer Manor back in Evesham. Of guards, we employ about 20 of those as well." Looking her cousin in the eyes, she says, "Kenna, do you think we will be able to handle this Ignatius if he indeed shows up? Who knows how many men he will have with him?"

A cloaked figure moved through the streets of town, heading for the outskirts. Her hand slipped to the pendant dangling from her neck. It wasn’t anything fancy, cut glass meant to look like a stone, but the red paper and pressed flower beneath were stunning.

The flower….

A hint of a smile crept over her lips, and her eyes grew soft. Rini dropped the thing, annoyed with herself. This would not do, not moments before a fight. She sighed, and stroked the large Mau lounging across her shoulders. Tau was a good companion, always there, and always willing to help. His bright olive eyes stared into the darkness around them, as though standing watch. The ancestors say cats are the guardians of the underworld… keepers of death… it was something she’d always found strangely appropriate, and it was always good to have such a look out in her line of work.

Absentmindedly, her fingers laced themselves around the chain again, running gently up and down the metal links, like cold beads of comfort against her skin. She needed the reassurance. After all it had been years, what if he didn’t want her? True, there had always been something ‘distant’ about him, but even so… she wasn’t one to take rejection well.

At least he bothered to write,” Rini thought bitterly.

She twitched and clucked her tongue as the thought once again entered her mind… why now?

Mud squished beneath her boot, and a cold northern wind chilled her exposed belly and chest. She missed the dessert’s warmth, the sun’s fiery kiss against her ebony hair. Rini resisted the urge to pout. She hated England, everything about it disgusted her. Its arrogance, its miserable weather, and horrible food… everything about it sent her into a killing mood.

A twig snapped, sending her spinning fast. Her hood fell to her back as Tau leapt to the ground, spitting fury and hate, and eagerly coming to his mistress’s defense. Her sword glinted in the moonlight as she held it at the ready. A sinister figure appeared, silhouetted against the trees behind him. Rini’s heart skipped a beat. Years vanished in an instant. Suddenly she was that same little star struck girl on the docks of Alexandria.

Biti… is it really you?” she dared to whisper, breaking the moment.

"As you wish, my lady. Your word means much to Lord Viceroy. I shall depart and find him," he said bowing and quickly heading out.

pnj
Jarlath looked around, hoping to see a sign of Ignatius. He was used to waiting, but not like this. Not when waiting could end lives.. Every sound was making him tense, every sight of movement putting fear in his heart. Looking back at Viceroy he decided to speak his mind. "Do we have a plan? Waiting will just delay it, and probably kill more of us. If we search for him and fight then at least we will be doing something. Waiting will be the death of us all, and I would rather not have it come to that."
Waiting for an answer he checked his sword again, doing a few practice cuts at the air.
Viceroy
Viceroy looked at Jarlath taking "practice" swings. Suddenly, he pulled out his sword and swung it towards Jarlath's head.
