= [ORP] Kel's Bells Tavern in Egremont

--Lorena.lanius
She watched as Hikenai instructed Blythe to return to the castle to care for the children, the Douglas family members, and the others in their party. Lorena continued to make her way around to all the tables, refilling tankard and bowls, laughing merrily and joking with the taverns patrons.
The one called Sam shouted out, All hail well and mighty, Long Live England One and All! That had set up a cheer from them all, Brotherhood members and regular customers alike. The Lord Protector of the Brotherhood, Hik's brother, had arrived and Sir Fronz had said, just as Lorena walked by,
Quote:
Sit my Lord and enjoy these fine brews that the Baron keeps in plentiful supply

And with a quick curtsy and a smile, Lorena filled their tankards. She felt saddened for Sir Fronz, knowing him to be a cousin to the late Princess Gabrielle. The good woman was sorely missed throughout England.
As she turned to go back to the kitchen for more bread, Lorena saw the new girl had come in to work. Raven Bennett.
Ah, good! No time like the present to get trained and used to working at a busy tavern!
Kelster
As the tavern starts to fill up with so many members of the blood oath brotherhood, Kel cannot help but think to himself that is was a good job he had the extension built to the tavern. Watching his wife, smiling and laughing with all her old comrades from the brotherhood was so good to see. The childbirth had been on scary time for Kelster Wallace, the most scary thing he had ever faced, made fighting the NNGO and FURY seem like a picnic in the dale. Now though his wife was happy , smiling and seemed contented.

Then as his brother in law Paddy walked in, he went over to him and offered his hand to shake. So good to see you here Paddy, please sit down, tis a lucky day too for all the drinks are on the house.

Returning to the bar and bringing a very large tray full of ales for the troops, he placed them on the table and made a quick toast before downing his ale. Long live Cumberland, England and the King.

Lorena was helping her get accustomed to the tavern as if Raven had no experience. The girl didn't know whether to be touched at her thoughtfulness, or rather offended! It did seem Lorena was treating her like a simpleton. "Now, take this tray of bread on to the tables....the one with Lord Wallace and his party, first. When you are done, come back and get these tankards of ale for the musicians. They are probably thirsty by now!" Lorena told Raven, as she handed her a tray of steaming, fragrant, yeasty buns.
"Aye, miss, I go't it, I go't it!" Raven told Lorena, as she grasped the tray and made for the table where Lord Wallace sat.
"It's a pity Blythe will miss the dancing later! I do hope these Brotherhood fellows stay on and feel like shaking a leg! " Lorena went on, as she looked about the tavern. The dance floor was positively huge now, thanks to the extension!
Hmm, she thought wryly to herself. " I just bet they be feelin' like shakin' a leg! They'll no't be shakin' it in my direction!" Raven mumbled under her breath.

Thinking that finally he had a day off from the castle, forbes decided to walk into Kels Bells and get a drink, even perhaps get a little drunk today, been a while since he had the day off. Walking to the bar, ordering a drink he then turned to check out the new , very large tavern which was filling up with people. Then he spotted a serving girl and his eyes opened wide. She looked beautiful to him.

Wiping back his hair, he then tried to gain her attention so that he could speak to her. Thinking that it may be best to sit at a table , then she may come over , he sat down and gestured with his hand to her.
Excuse me miss, could you bring me some food over please?

When her brother entered the tavern, Hikenai rose from her seat next to Kel and flew to greet him. He was such a welcome sight! As she hugged him, she felt the strength and comfort one knows from family, the love and acceptance those very blessed experience, when beloved family members are present.

Oh, Paddy! I am so overwhelmed with happiness! Having Snow and your family come to visit Kelster and me, and see our darling children, makes me feel I have come such a long, long way....from feeling so alone a few short years ago, to now ----being surrounded by a loving, warm, wonderfully large family!

After settling her brother down with Kelster, and the Brotherhood group at their table, Hikenai called for more food and drink, before instructing Blythe to go along back to the castle.

My dear, please see about the children....tell Neonea Mama will return soon! And please assist the Viscountess's nanny, Michelle. Make sure she has all she needs, and that the children, and my brother and his wife have the best rooms---those just down from mine. I shall be along shortly!

Watching the wenc h as she dandies up to the table of Lords is easy enough from a corner in the shadows. All these stinking Knights and their faluting men at arms. Taking all the sweet wenches when us real men sit and work hard at our trades So what if he never did a days work in a field or a mine. Roland had been breaking into the big manor homes along the border, both sides if you mind, all his life. and never been caught yet.

Waiting till she was closer he look at her ripe form, the swell of her bosom, the ripe roundness of her hip. ahh lovely, you belong with me more than them So he set a plan in motion to wind the comely wench to his favour.

A man wit' manners.... She muttered under her breath, a bit surprised, though all the men who had come into the tavern this evening had been mannerly, towards her. After Raven had served the bread to the Baron's table, she had seen the young man gesture to her. His firm clear voice carried, even through the din of the tavern, as the crowd began to swell and teem around her.
She placed a basket of the hot buns before him, staring into his earnest face, she said, Now, wha' else 'll it be, sir?
--Raven_bennet
Lorena watched Raven work, and with relief, realized that the young woman was a hard worker. She didn't favor some customers over others, and she was none too willing to stop and flirt, or be too familiar. That was a lucky day for her and Blythe, when Lord Kelster had hired Raven, for business had really picked up before the holidays. Now, with the addition to the tavern, it would probably become even busier.
The dance floor was so much larger now! How about 'Black Jack Davy'? She called out to the musicians, as she swept by them, gracefully hoisting a large tray of tankards on a tray, and holding it up high enough, to clear the heads of all those sitting at the tables on either side of the narrow aisle. Be with you in one minute, sir! She said, and smiled at the man in a nearby booth, who had cocked his head, and gestured he and his lady friend were ready to order. Advancing to the Baron's table, she began to pass the tankards around, smiling at Lady Hikenai as she did so, and saying,
'Tis a fine day we are seeing, Lady Wallace! To have your kith and kin so close! A fine day, indeed!
Hikenai
A fine day, indeed, Blythe! And thank you for the sentiment, for I am so happy to have everyone here with us.
She hugged Paddy, long and hard, for he had just said,
Quote:
oh darling Hik, you are the jewel of my heart, well you V my dear Snow, my twins, your twins

damn at this rate I will need Kel to put an extension on in my heart

but I love you my dear Sister, always have, always will

Touched by Paddy's words, the love shone from Hikenai's eyes and swelled within her heart, rendering her speechless for the lump that had grown in her throat. Truly blessed, I am, she thought to herself, staring into her brother's eyes.
When Blythe had returned to the table with the tankards of cold ale, to replace those just drained, Hikenai heard the musicians begin the opening strains of 'Black Jack Davy', a rather rousing rendition of it, too.
Hikenai listened as Paddy recounted his correspondence with Sassy, who was presently at Wallace castle, too, along with Snow. She was proud of their town, and happy to hear Paddy praise the fine accomplishments the people had worked so long and hard to see materialize. There was talk the King, himself, Geoffrey Viceroy, would tour all of England, and Hik had a fleeting thought that perhaps he would come to Egremont, as well!
What do you think Paddy? Cumberland is a buzz that the King may make a tour of the counties. D'you think he might come north, to us?Then she was distracted a bit, but glad to join in when her brother rose from his seat, and she too...and they joined in with Kelster.
Paddy wrote,

Now, wha' else 'll it be, sir?

Looking into her light blue eyes, Forbes was lost for a moment. Never had he seen eyes that gripped him like hers did. Could i please have a very large steak if that's not too much trouble. May i ask, are you new here? I do not think we have met before, my name is Forbes, i am the squire to the Baron, lord Kelster Wallace.
Kelster
Long live Cumberland, England and the King.

As all the Brotherhood joined in the toast and the rest of the tavern come to that, Kel smiled. It had been a while since he had fought in the war and the only good thing he rememberd about it was his fellow soldiers that had stood for so long against all the odds to stop the enemy hoards from moving further into England, good times? Well he thought, not good, but certainly not something he dispised.

Now with his new extende family growing he thought to himself how good it was to still see true English men and women, still ready at the slightest call to stand and fight for all the citizens of Englands safety and most of all, there freedom.

It will be so good having you at the castle Paddy, perhaps you should stay a while, take a little rest perhaps? Thinking to himself that Paddy and the Brotherhood would only rest if there was no threat to England, he tried anyway to make his brother in law and sister in laws stay at the castle as long as possible.

Forbes told Raven,
Quote:

She stood, with her hands on her hips, listening to him. She knew the look, she knew what it meant! One eyebrow arched, despite her desire to keep her face unreadable.
Aye, tonight be me f 'rst night 'ere.
She spoke grudgingly, not wanting to explain herself, but his tone of voice drew her interest, despite her suspicion. The laird? Ye be squire to the Baron, Kelster Wallace---hmmm, well, I su'pose ye can be aff 'rding steak then, sirrah! A tiny smiled graced her lips then. She tossed her head back in the direction Lord Kel and Lady Hik.
The Baron hired me, and lately I worked at Merryweather Fortress, in the kitchen, but moved to Egremont, recent-like. The work that be goin' on in the harbor means the taverns are busier now. Tavern work leaves a girl more time o' 'er own, than working in a gre't manor or castle! Suddenly, a little color stained her cheeks, as she realized she had said much more about herself to the young man than she had meant to.
I'll be going now, to the kitchen...an' give the cook your order! Raven turned quickly and sped away, a bit self conscious, and strangely annoyed with herself.

Watching as she walked away, Forbes could not help but think to himself that she said she had plenty of free time working in the tavern. I wonder, should i ask her to go riding with me, i am sure the Baron would be glad for us to exercise a couple of the horses he has in the stable, he thought to himself. She could only say no after all. I think i may ask her when she comes back, he mutterd to himself.
