= [ORP] Kel's Bells Tavern in Egremont

--Blackbird.douglas
Sitting amongst a large group of Brotherhood soldiers was always a fun place when in a tavern They liked to work hard and then when given the chance to party harder. Tonight the Baron Wallace had pulled out all he stop, free grog. Oh some hang overs tomorrow for sure. Blackbird loved the old Bells, but with the bigger party room she could see many great loud nights a head of her here. Lord Parkin had given all a 48 pass, so the old motto of 4 a day is the Brotherhood way was out the window.

Drink up my friends.
Mo.graham
Here ya go mate. Walking with a more than slight stumble, pouring with more than a few spills, Mo walked around the tavern refilling jugs and mugs. Singing along with groups as he arrived, joining in with jokes, standing tall for the Lords and Ladies. All the while with a glint of cheekiness in his eyes and a crooked smile on his face.

Determined he walked over to Kathryn the Blackbord. He would not be intimidated by this mere slip of a lass. No well not this time anyway. A drink my Lady? With her approval he poured to the best he could, only spilling a few drops which they both ignored.

Smiling to himself he withdrew and never looked back. Those bloody Douglas women, what magic is it they spin he wondered.

She began to relax a little as the moments sped on. The tavern was bustling with business. The tables were all full, the bar itself crowed with customers, the musicians playing dance tunes, and couples dancing with abandon. The volte, it seemed was the favored dance, with the ladies thrown high into the air on the beat of the music.
Aye, yer food is pipin' hot, it is! She smiled, as she served the group nearest Forbes. She couldn't help but see him take notice of her. It both pleased her, and alarmed her, for she did not want to be pleased by the attention of any man. She viewed them all with distrust, and she had reason to! So it galled her that she felt her cheeks warm with a blush, simply because she could feel his eyes upon her, and see his smile. She took him his steak next, and another tankard of ale, too.
Here ye go, sirrah! I think you'll be enjoyin' your supper!
She placed the platter down before Forbes, gave him a quick nod of her head and turned to go, quickly, before he could draw her back into conversation, for she had been too free with her talk earlier.

Long live Cumberland, England, and the King!

She shouted it out with the rest, carrying her tray high above the heads of those seated, and gracefully sweeping it out of the way of some of the dancers, as they swirled and spun about the dance floor.

Aaaaauch! Let Blythe go on to be Lady Hik's lady's maid! Lorena thought to herself. No, I'd not begrudge her that! She has worked too hard in the tavern til now. I am happy to work both here and at the castle.
There is more excitement here, anyway!
Lorena muttered to herself, smiling at the many handsome faces of the Brotherhood members. I would rather have a hard working gentleman anyday, that's not afraid of getting his hands dirty, than one of the castle's gentlemen servants for a husband, Lorena thought to herself. She grinned wickedly with glee, however, thinking of Evesham and how careful he was to never let a speck of dust lay upon his waistcoat!
Ah, do play Hear You Me! She shouted to the musicians.
Lorena imagined the dancers were tired after the volte, and might like slower tune.

Hikenai
Hikenai slipped through the crowd to Mo and Kathryn's side.

Ah, tis wonderful to see you, Mo! I don't believe I have had the pleasure of meeting Kathryn, however.

Despite the long months since her resignation from the Brotherhood, Hikenai had always felt still a part of the organization her ancestors had founded. She knew she always would, for they were like an extension of her own family!

Kathryn, I hope your days with the Brotherhood are as rewarding and as fulfilling as mine were. I learned many things from them, that stood me in good stead last year, in Carlisle, and then later in Dumfries.

Hikenai patted her foot in time to the music. If she had not so recently had the twins, she would have pulled Kelster onto the dance floor, felt so merry.

Just as I was being asked if e was going to the Bell's or to the Castle Mo leant closer to Jamie and said Of course he is coming to the Bells. He has not been with me for a drink for 3 whole days now, can't you see the lad is wasting away. and that was that. Upon entering I was hit by the frenzy and the clamour. Troopers of the Northern Regional Command were all over the bar like an infestation. The blue trousers and red shirts of the Brotherhood were in abundance, even some of the sky blue cloaks could be seen flying around, others hung from pegs around the place.

On hearing that Lord Padriac and Lady Hikenai, and Lord Kelster were here I headed in the direction of their table. My Lord, Ladies, I am gladdened to see you all here and enjoying the night. Fronz this is an unexpected pleasure. Stepping around all I wrap my arms around my elder cousin and hug the man.

Egremont oh my heart yearns for the sea again. What a cruel trick of fate that they road for the port town of Egremont. Knowing only recently the fine Brotherhood ship departed from here with out him. In the service of the Brotherhood, and seconded to the Earls own staff, he was at this time required to stay close to the Earl for Councils and to give advice. All very important he had been told time and again, but nothing like the feel of the wind and the spray on ones face.

With several of the trade mission he took refuge in the Kel's Bell's. Finding solace in many jugs of fine mead and the occasional hot roll. The coming days he would wander the docks and talk to old friends, see that the wood they delivered was put to good use, look at what wood and wool orders they would need here in the future, then work closely with the Brotherhood Quartermasters to see that these could be filled with great expediency.

Tonight though was about drink, food and beautiful wenches, and they certainly had their fill here in Egremont of that he never doubted. A good girl knows deep down that true men are those who live with the sea after al.

Slipping off her bar stool she looked at her cousin with awe and wonder. Hello Lady Hikenai. Smiling she continues Your adventures and life is the story of legend up in the highlands. You probably never heard of lil ol me, but you and I we be cousins indeed. Lord Paddy's father, the late great William The Douglas was my fathers brother. I am only recently moved here on the advice of cousin Tawny, who I spent a lot of my childhood with. When her family was wiped out in Ayr, and how lord Paddy and Lady Snow took her in, well she asked Cousin Paddy of my fate. He dispatched riders that hour I here, and well here I am, new threads, a purse full of gold and a wonderful sword Paddy made himself. All the trappings of being a Douglas of the Isle, and a membership in the Brotherhood to boot. A Lass who landed on her feet. But I do go on. It is nice to meet you my Lady.

It is nice to see you too my Lady. Then as they talked he beat a hasty retreat. Now there where two Douglas women together. Too beautiful by half, but two together, just need air.

What a remarkable young woman, thought Hik. She smiled warmly and said, Ah, then we are cousins! I ought to have seen the family resemblance, for you do put me in mind of Tawny!
Hikenai touched the young woman on the arm. Oh, I hardly can believe my life is such as legends, my dear! But I am so blessed to have such a wonderful family. And I am happy to know we are kin, Kathryn. I hope you are coming to the castle tonight, as our guests, to stay on until the Brotherhood must ride out. I believe Tawny, herself, will arrive any day! And Snow's nanny and twins are on their way to there now.
Hikenai was, in truth, thrilled. She gazed around the merry tavern, taking note that she was, indeed, blood kin to so many present. Now, if only Veroncia and Aragorn would arrive!
Chrisiusmaximus and Lady Roberta would be marrying in a few weeks, she thought to herself happily. She would see more of her family then, as well, when she, Kelster and the children traveled south for the ceremony. That reminded her, Paddy had not told her his plans for that...but Hikenai knew there would be time, later, at the castle, to discuss plans for attending the wedding of their bachelor brother! A huge smile played across Hikenai's face at the thought. At last! Chris was going to tie the knot and settle down! Who would have thought it! She smiled again at Mo and Blackbird and Hikenai lifted her tankard.
Another round! She called out. Another round for family, kith and kin!

Having delievered his load of wood to the Mayor of Egremont allowed Dan and the other Pegasus Traders time for a few ales. The Bell's was a calling. Many of their fellow travellers of the Brotherhood were in their already that much was evident by the loud singing and laughing. Packer, Daltrey and Dan found a all but empty table in a back corner, fresh jugs of ale arrived and later plates of hot food. We in the right place tonight lads.
Hikenai
Hikenai was thrilled with the huge party of Brotherhood members who had come to the tavern. The dancing and laughter, the music and merriment caused her to remember why she loved working at the tavern. For the moment though, she was beginning to feel a pull to the duties that awaited her at the castle.

As she looked around the table, at Kelster, Kathryn, Fronz, Mo, Paddy, and the others sitting with them, and knew they would all be coming to the castle with their revenue, she relaxed. There would be more time for festivities, there, too, and there were musicians at the Castle. Perhaps, they could have a Ball this weekend! It would be wonderful...in honor of having Paddy and Snow there, the many children who had graced their family, and Sassy being home, and their houseguest, Aef...and Marae's return and new home in Egremont, and Henry joining the Cumberland Mountaineers...and Corster bringing the strange and unusual animal called the llama to Egremont...and oh, there were so many reasons to celebrate!

I feel I must go on to the castle now, Hikenai said, placing her hand on Paddy's arm. I am anxious to see Jules and Alexis again! And too, this is the longest I have been away from Sara and Matthew since their birth! She smiled reassuringly at Kelster, as she said, I will have one of the young men drive me back in the sleigh Kel. Four a day, is the Brotherhood way! But after not drinking for so long while expecting the twins, I could not hold true to that standard. Hikenai laughed. Those two ales I drank have me a bit tipsy!

And Hikenai stood and prepared to leave saying, I shall give Sir James Bland instructions to prepare rooms for all your men and women, Paddy. We have accomodations for all readily available and are honored to be your hosts, brother. She hugged Paddy tightly and whispered, I am so glad you are here, Pads! I will see you soon back at the castle, but first, enjoy your time here at Kel's Bells, for the tavern has come alive with your presence!

She held tightly to Kel's hand as he escorted her out. She knew he could see the excitement in her eyes, and the ale's affect in her wobbly gait!

When the Pegasus traders arrived, she had thought the tavern could get no busier, but she happily drew up the ale and turned their orders into Maxine. The trays of piping hot food were getting heavier, but Raven was young and strong.

Aye, the right place, sirrah! And will ye be needin' anythin' more at the moment?

As she waited a moment, to see if all was correct, she caught a glimpse of Forbes from the cornor of her eye. Before she went back to the kitchen she would stop by his table, to see if he had all he needed. He seemed quiet and peacefully content amid the laughter, raucous conversation and music of the tavern.

--Forbes
Here ye go, sirrah! I think you'll be enjoyin' your supper!

Before Forbes could utter a word, she turned and left. Dang, he thought to himself as she walked away. He carried on watching her, serving the soldiers at there tables, his just could not pull his eyes away from her, she was so beautiful he thought to himself. Every once in while he saw her look over towards him, he should turn his gaze away he thought, but he was transfixed. If she came over one more time, he must, must say something to her.
Kelster
The tavern, even with the new extension was nealy full Kel thought to himself. This was what a tavern owner was all about, feeding hungry troops, drinking with them, talking about anything and everything. Kelster smiled at his wife who seemed to be having such a great time with her old comrades. It was so good to see her smile he thought, brighten the darkest day with one smile from his Hik.

I am so glad you are here, Pads! I will see you soon back at the castle, but first, enjoy your time here at Kel's Bells, for the tavern has come alive with your presence!

As his wife got up, he escorted her to the door. Her legs were a little wobbly through the drink, but she was happy, that was all that matterd to Kelster Wallace. Making sure she was safly in the sleigh, He kissed her on the cheek and said. We won't be that long my love, i can't wait to get home myself and check on Neo, Matthew and Sara.
