= [ORP] Kel's Bells Tavern in Egremont

Lilith_
Since when can you read my mind? [...]Umn, do i get a fork with this?

She heard him call after her and turned "Since...never, I must be simply intuitive, if that counts with all the cake talk going on lately. And aye, you get...maybe a wee spoon" she giggled and turned away, giving Roby a look over her shoulder, to see if Kel needed any help. She thought she might enjoy an ale since she was there and everyone knew the best remedy for a hangover was another drink.

Oh great, so now me and my cake is predictable.... thats great, i don't mind having a wee spoon with my cake!

He laughed gently again and ate his cake happily. When he had finished he realised his ale had ran out to and he sighed. he made sure He had more money and made his way to the bar to order another pint and return the plate... and the wee spoon.

She'd nearly laughed to see Phoebe rush in and start washing dishes hurriedly. It seemed to have embarrassed the girl to return to the tavern and discover Raven and herself doing them. Lorena had quietly handed Phoebe the dishrag, and then watched as Raven had gone to wait on a young stranger. The man didn't seem to be a stranger to Lord Kel's sister Lilith, Lorena noticed. They happily exchanged a bit of lighthearted banter as Lilith bestowed upon her friend the delicious cake that Lorena knew to be nothing short of heavenly! The succulent shepherds pie she served to the new customer gracing the bar smelled divine, as well, as for a brief moment Lorena coveted Lady Lil's culinary skills.
Lilith said,
Quote:
"Kel's Bells special recipe Shepherd's Pie for the lady!Where would you like to sit, lady Veronica?"

Lorena drew up more ale for the gentlmen sitting around the counter, and placed the chilled tankards before each of them, as she noticed the young man come up with his pie plate and spoon.
Ah, sir would you like more pie? Perhaps some milk to wash it down with?
Lorena grinned, knowing milk would probably not be his beverage of choice. He had a friendly face, and Lo felt she could easily joke with him.
Roby123
He smiled at young girl behind the bar. Kelster sure knew what kind of staff to hire for a tavern.

No thanks,no pie for me please, and definatly not milk. Never touch that stuff. Just a nice ale please. Oh and i bought the plate back, it was a great slice of cake, so good i doubt Lil made it.

He smiled again and wondered if Lilith had heard him, he looked over his shoulder to see where abouts she was in the tavern. He leant in slightly closer to the girl and said more quietly.

I bet its more likely she asked you to make it so she could take the credit.

He laughed soflty and leant back again and handed her the plate and waited for his second ale.

Lili liked to keep herself busy and she went on to cover the rest of the pie with a special towel so as to keep it warm in case someone else would like to have a bite. She did hear Roby's outspoken doubt about the cake, but she just giggled softly and went on with her work. As she finished, she walked back to the bar, on the side Lorena was, filling Roby's mug "I'd have one too", she said, pushing a clean mug along the bar, in front of Lorena and waited. She looked at Roby and grinned, then leaned to whisper in Lorena's ear "He's a charmer, isn't he..." then out loud "...the blondie!"
She then giggled and asked Roby "Mind if I join you for a wee drink?"

He saw Lil had walked over to join him and the girl at the bar and he smiled as she approached. He watched her push the mug across the bar.

Should you be drinking whilst you are at work?

He laughed softly and wondered if the farmer who had hired him this afternoon was missing his farm hand much. He was bought back to his senses as he heard Lilith whisper and he coloured slightly and played with his ale mug.

Charmer eh? Well if you think that, then i best pay for her ale to.

He handed some more money to the girl behind the bar and smiled at Lilith.

Sure, no problem, i would like that.

Lo drew Roby's ale and laughed at Roby's statement about Lady Lili. Oh, her creativity in the kitchen has made Kel's Bells the busiest tavern in Egremont! Maxine, the cook, provides good, simple meat, fish and potato meals, but Lady Lili's dishes are what the customers rave over!

Lilith said,

Lorena giggled as Lilith whispered into her ear as she came up to the counter. Charming, indeed, and fun! She let the mug Lili pushed along the bar find her hand, and with a quick movement snatched it up, to hurry and draw Lili's ale. She had already placed Roby's tankard before him, so she winked back in reply to Lilith, as she handed the woman her mug. Lili said,
Quote:
"Mind if I join you for a wee drink?"

Lorena smiled at them both, and then turned to fill a pitch with more ale, so she could make a round of the tables, giving those customers a refill. It was time for her to return to Wallace Castle, and Phoebe was back and helping Raven, so Lorena felt, with Lilith here, as well, to keep an eye on things, she could leave. She eyed Sir James, who was waiting for her in a corner table. The man looked miserable, and that worried Lorena. Ever since Blythe had returned from Scotland, and the funeral for the clan chieftan, Sir James had become more and more withdrawn, and his earlier happiness over his sobriety had fallen away to reveal what seemed to be a continuing unhappiness, and dissatisfaction with life in general, and Lorena suspected, with Blythes' disinterest in him, in particular. She shot him one more worried look before she took up the pitcher of ale and made her rounds about the tavern.

He nodded polietly, "yes i can see why her cakes are very popular!" He laughed to himself not sure if she would get the pun or not. He took a sip of his ale and wondered if Lil would prefer to stay at the bar or take a seat at a table. He took a quick look around the tavern and saw that the table he sat at before was unoccupied.

Do you want to sit down Lilypad?

He smiled again.

Ah, yes sir! She has a way in the kitchen! Lorena was proud to work in such a fine establishment. She felt gratitude to the Baron and Lady Hik for giving her such responsibility at the Bells, and at the apothecary shop. Still, looking at the empty cake plate, Lorena was a bit jealous of Lilith's expertise!

I must keep working on my honey buns! She thought to herself with great resolve.

"Now don't go spoiling me, Lorena!" she smiled at the young lady as she picked her ale up. Lili liked her brother's taste when it came to getting help in the tavern. He always picked well-spirited, pretty ladies. And hardworking too! It was a pleasure to have them around and they always had a sweet smile and the kindest words for the customers. They ensured them coming back time after time. She nodded and looked at Kel, who was still talking to the Lady Veronica, and thought he must have a trained eye for such things.

Lilypad! She still wondered where he came up with that nickname. She didn't dislike it, it was cute, she thought, but somehow, couldn't really relate to it. "I suppose we should take a seat, unless, of course, you'd like to try the closet." she giggled "Now, no more closets for today, just a nice, fresh ale" she smiled, as her feet took her to the table where Roby previously served his cake.

Sir James had given me a few coins and let me run down to the market. The butcher was selling pig bladders, and I just love them! It is ever so much fun for me, Ethelbert and Edgar, to play ball with them! I'd run back to the Bells with the pig bladder tucked under my arm, and threw open the door to the tavern. Sir James was waiting on my mother to finish her work. I waved to my mum, and traipsed happily back to the kitchen. I knew Maxine would give me some milk. Lady Lilith was sitting at a table, and I really got my hopes up then. Maybe there would be cake to go with my milk!
--Veronica_
The Shepherd's Pie looks so delicious, the crust most flaky, the aroma so mouthwatering! I am ravenous by the time Lady Lilith brings it to me. I smile at the friendly tavern keeper when he tells me there is a nice inn in Egremont. He mentions I can stay in rooms the tavern lets out, but does not try to sway my choice to his establishment. I like that he tries not to do so. The room has begun to fill with people and is very busy. The atmosphere is very gay. A child dashes in and waves to a woman I saw waiting upon customers. Lady Lilith now sits with a nice young man drinking ale. Yes, I would like to be with people again. I do not want to spend another night on the ship. I want to sleep on a bed and lie still instead of being rocked by the sea! "I think that I would like to stay on here for the night." I tell him. My pie begins to cool, and I place a small bite in my mouth. Ah ha! I sigh. So wonderful! Your sister is very skilled.
Roby123
Roby had set off towards the closet then realised Lilith was actually heading towards the table he sat at earlier. He quickly took a sip of his ale and followed her to the seat. He placed his ale on the table and held the chair for her to sit down. It was out of habit, showing respect for all women as well as men for he knew many of them would stand by his side in a battle and he would be honoured to defend anyone to the end. Besides, it was Lilith's round next.

He smiled at took his own chair and took another sip of his ale.

Have you being working hard today then? Or just making cakes for strange people who wonder in off the streets?

After he asked his question, he saw a young girl enter the tavern and waved to the barmaid who had served him earlier. He wondered if she was her daughter, but the barmaid hardly seemed old enough to be a mother. What was this world coming too?

"Ah, not hard at all. I cook for pleasure and I like giving a hand here. With the tavern full at all times, I know Kel and the girls appreciate it, even though I don't come in very often." she smiled and sipped her ale and, as she was ready to continue her thought, she saw little Evelyn spring through the door and look for Lorena. She was glad then that she baked the cake, and a cherry cake, she knew little girls usually loved cherries.

"Excuse me one moment, Roby." she smiled and went to greet Evelyn. She took her tiny hand and giggled at the pig bladder she kept safely under her arm. They were in for some fun time when she got back home with it. While she waited for her mother to finish her work, she could enjoy a piece of cake to go with the milk. She took Evelyn to their table and gestured to Lorena she would keep her company until she's finished, then came back with a plate with cake for the little girl. She knew one could never go wrong with cake! And it sweetened the wait!

One look over she shoulder, she could see Lady Veronica seemed pleased with her meal and it made Lili smile. It was nice to know people felt at ease around there. After all, everyone tried their best to accomplish that. She hoped she would chose to stay in one of the rooms upstairs, for some reason, she found her interesting and would have liked to see more of her. But the noise made it hard to hear what she said and Lili had never been so good at reading lips.

She turned to Roby and Evelyn with a happy sigh. "Have you visited Lady Hikenai today, Evelyn?" She smiled, knowing the little girl loved spending time with her sister in law. And she was so good with children, must have been something in her voice, or her eyes that made any child feel safe and comfortable in her presence. She had just a soothing effect on them, and everyone else. She then made a note in her mind to remember to pay her a visit at the apothecary, where she'd been meaning to go for a while, but hadn't quite managed to stay away from the temptation in her mug. This time she looked at the mug and slightly pushed it away. "Plenty of time for that anyway.." she thought.

I was really happy when Lady Lili came to meet me in the kitchen as I was getting my milk from Maxine. I shook her hand politely, and then pulled out the pig bladder to show her.

"Edgar and Ethelbert will take turns blowing it up! When we play ball with it, I expect Edgar will win! He always does!" I giggled, because I let him win! It was important for him to do something well, because he never seemed to quite have anything right. Poor Edgar, he seemed to never get the hang of things, and Ethelbert teased him terribly!

I was really happy that Lady Lilith took me back to the table where she had been sitting with the gentleman. He was very handsome, and sipped his ale without making a mess. Sometimes the men in the tavern slurp, and sometimes, they even spill their ale if they drink too much! Sir James used to do that, but now he doesn't drink anymore, except for milk, and no one ever spills milk......well, except for Edgar!

Lilith asked,
Quote:
"Have you visited Lady Hikenai today, Evelyn?"

I grinned at Lady Lilith, because she was my friend but also, she had gotten me a piece of her cake, and it had cherries! That kind of cake was my favorite of all the different cakes Lady Lili could bake!

"Yes, ma'am, she was at the apothecary shop earlier, and said she would be here soon. Neonea wasn't with her, though. She is at home."

I wanted to meet Neonea so badly! My mum had said Lady Hik wanted to introduce us-----Neonea was nearly my age, and I am seven! But then----well, something happened. My mum had said something unexpected happened and Lady Hik was having to work it out. It was very mysterious. My mum doesn't talk about what goes on at the castle very much to Mrs. Hightower, but I did overhear something that scared me. My mum said that Neonea's real father had come back! And Lady Hik and Lord Kel might have to fight to keep their daughter.

What if my real father came back? What would we do then? He ran off with that monsterous bad nengeo! My mum never liked him in the first place. He always spilled his ale and it made him mad when he did it! I found out from James Wallace just how bad the nengeo was, and if my father left with it, he probably won't come back because it may have eaten him already. James said it had sharp teeth and claws, too! At least I hope he won't come back. I heard Mrs. Hightower tell Sir James that my father was not nice to my mum at all, and that when he went off with the nengeo, he did not leave anything for our family, he gave it all to the nengeo.

I smiled at Lady Lilith and the nice man. It was alright now. My mum had a good job with the Wallace's and the nengeo had sailed away on a big ship with my father.
