[ORP]Merryweather Fortress

Caitilin
Cait tried to sleep. She did not stir when the door opened and hushed voices could be heard.

Surgeons assistant wrote:
The assistant glances at Lady Cait and lowers to a whisper,
Lord Baldar, had two very bad wounds in his side and shoulder. The surgeon sewed him up. But, is hard to know. He has not stirred from pain at all. Which is a big concern. Surgeon is not sure, if he has no feeling, on his side and shoulder or he has gone so deep into shock sleep that he feels nothing. Many people that go into such sleeps never return to the living.

A sharp pain gripped her middle when the realization hit that her husband may never wake. She buried her face in a pillow and sobbed silently.

Be still my dear, do not waste your strength trying to hold your eyes open, the surgeon will be along soon for you. Here, get some of this into you, then I must check the others

His eyes were then covered and he slept the fitful sleep of unrest again...

Later another came one he knew he should know and this time he was given something else, and his pain faded.

later still he awoke feeling pain but this time he knew whom he was, and there was hope, hos body was harmed but it could and would heal, his mind was is own again and that was something he knew would have been harder to heal.

Squire he croaked, Squire water please The water was brought and he used his good side to raise upwards and with the squires help he was propped up in his bed.

Aragorn looked over to Nic and smiled forgive me commander but this may be a little off tune

Be thou my vision, O Lord of my heart,
be all else but naught to me, save that thou art;
be thou my best thought in the day and the night,
both waking and sleeping, thy presence my light.

His voiced croaked and the squire gave him more water..

Be thou my wisdom, be thou my true word,
be thou ever with me, and I with thee Lord;
be thou my great Father, and I thy true son;
be thou in me dwelling, and I with thee one.

Be thou my breastplate, my sword for the fight;
be thou my whole armor, be thou my true might;
be thou my soul's shelter, be thou my strong tower:
O raise thou me heavenward, great Power of my power.

Aragorns voice seemed to swell and he sang strong and good...

Riches I heed not, nor man's empty praise:
be thou mine inheritance now and always;
be thou and thou only the first in my heart;
O Sovereign of heaven, my treasure thou art.

High King of heaven, thou heaven's bright sun,
O grant me its joys after victory is won;
great Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
still be thou my vision, O Ruler of all.

He looked around and slumped back down in bed. Squire I need food and news of the capitol please, do we still hold and what of the 5th please tell me all...who was here earlier tending to me me, I still smell their scents..Please thank them for me

Hikenai
High King of heaven, thou heaven's bright sun,
O grant me its joys after victory is won;
great Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
still be thou my vision, O Ruler of all.

As Hikenai listened to the rich voice of Sir Aragorn fill the hall with his heartfelt melody, she felt her own heart swell with emotion and a tear slid down her cheek....after victory is won, she thought to herself, as she looked about at the sacrifice made to that victory. Blood of her blood, flesh of her flesh, they had fought together as one against Anto and to Hikenai, that made them all brothers and sisters to her.

She searched the crowd of wounded for Mightymiss's kneeling figure before she turned from the young soldier to whom she had attended. He had dozed off, and so Hikenai gathered her supplies and made her way back, in the direction of Aragorn and Nick, stopping ever so often on her way among the wounded, to reassure and reassess their wounds.

Inka2
The rumors of Aragorn being seriously wounded in the war had been carried with people they had met along the roads through the county palatine of Lancaster. He was a dear friend and she was worried about him. She had asked where to find the wounded and she got a travel instruction how to get there. When the troops reached the outskirts of Penrith and the camp was finally built Inka asked permission to leave the company to visit him. She was not sure how bad wounded he was but she feared it was bad and hoped she would not come to late. She arrived to the grand gates and knocked firmly hoping someone would hear her.

Kneeling over the last of the inured who had yet to have thier face washed, MnM heard a small voice singing, growing ever larger and more full of life....Bellowing even, towards the end of the tune.

Quote:

Standing up to see who is singing, MnM spots Aragorn propped up bellowing away the molody. Smiling, MnM closes her eyes and lets the deep resonating sound of his voice take her away, to a place that isn't full of hell, or war, or blood.

Aragrons Youngest Squire still to young to fight himself was sat atop the walls by the gate when he saw Inka approach. He quickly climbed down and as the knocks came he spoke to the guards and vouched for her.

After the gates were opened he went to greet her...

Mi Lady Inka, Lord Aragorn is badly Injured but back in voice so must be on the mend, follow and I will take you to see him but be warned, well he is no hte man he once was, the wounds they were many

As the song finished Aragorn looked about and there she was the face that went with the smell, it all came flooding back to him. her hands had been so gentle whilst she cleaned his face and tried to sooth his pain, as she had left there was the smell of vanilla and rose. He had been unable to place it then but now as he saw her he knew it was that of lilac's.

And right over there was the Angel with the lovely smell, he tried to lift his arm but the pain was too much, so instead he watched as she went about her work. Then she seemed to look his way and he smiled, twas all he was capable of but he knew when he was better he owed her a dance.

She was one of the sisters in the brotherhood, he had not come into too much contact with her in the past, duties had kept them ijn other parts of the county but still he had heard good things about this lass with the Angels face that had helped him when he was unable himself.

MnM could feel his eyes watching her. Fetching some cool water, she kneels down over Aragorn.

Here my dear, drink this. You must be parched after singing such a tune!

Helping to prop him up, MnM holds the mug to his lips and watches him drink eagerly.

Parched indeed! How are you feeling? I see Hik's pain medicine has you trying to get about. You need to rest!

MnM gently scolds him with a giggle and a wink. Looking about the room to make sure nobody else is in need of face washing or water, MnM sits beside Aragorn, holding his head in her lap, eagerly awaiting the young squire to fetch her for Cait's delivery.

His eyes were closed and he smelt her come close again, he opened them and there she was.
Quote:

he did not realize how thirsty he was and was glad she pretended to not notice the dribbled water down his chin.

Ack lass fit as an ox, that's me ready to fight again already.... He tried to get up and failed badly
Quote:

She laid his head down in her lap and he started to drift asleep again. his head filled with wonderful things and then a big bunch of Lilacs white in a vase ...

and as he kinda slipped in and out of sleep he kept waking to see her angelic face there looking at him then out to the knights and soldiers. He knew also that she waited for the news about lady Cait.

he reached his hand out and gently stroked her arm..

The squire will be here soon lass, you rest as your self as the baby and its mother will need ya soon

Caitilin
Caitilin had cried herself to sleep only to be awakened by renewed reminders of why she was in a comfortable bed. The contractions came and she laid her hand on her swollen belly. She grimaced as the pain came to its peak and then faded.

My son...if you be a son, you must wait until we know if your father wakes.

One more followed quickly on the last and she tried to sit up. It was hard and strong and for the first time she cried out. Dear Jah, please... noooo not yet. Caitilin fell back onto the tear dampened pillow. Sweat trickled from her forehead. In no more than a whisper she breathed, Baldar, my love, I need you.

As midnight wears into wee hours of morning, a small, bedraggled group of men with a horse cart in tow ride up to the gates of Merryweather Fortress. The grizzled old sergeant who leads them shouts up to the gate guards..Halloo the keep! We bring a kinsman from the field at Carlisle. Hast thee a surgeon? He motions to one of the pages with him, who then uncovers the body in the cart, and brings a torch near to show who it is.

In the light of the torch, a young scotsman can be seen lying on a blanket. He is covered in grime and gore, his armor showing great rents, his shattered shield at his feet, and his claymore lying broken at his side. Despite the awful wounds in his side and chest, it is clear that here lies Seamus, cousin of the Lord and Lady of the fortress.

Once more the Sergeant speaks loudly to the gate guards, We beg entry, sirs. 'E needs a surgeon afore we lose him. An' if the Lady Caitilin be present, I must report to her how he fell. Let us enter, I pray you.
--Schnee_luchs
Schnee places her hand next to Lady Cait's hand on her stomach.
She feels it begin to harden with the contraction. She mentally begins keeping track of the time to figure out how far apart the contractions are.

Relax, my dear, do not fight the contractions.
Take a deep breathe, it will help to calm the body.

Another contraction followed quickly, and Lady Cait sat up in pain.
Schnee helps support her during it, when it passes, she lays down.
Schnee sits on the bed, takes the cup of red raspberry leaf tea.

Please, sip some more of this.
We must quicken labor to make sure you have all the strength you need.
It will, also, help with some of the stronger pains that will come...very soon.

Schnee helps Lady Cait lean up to take a few sips.

Schnee picks up a cloth, dunks it in the warm water in the basin, squeezes, and begins wiping the sweat on Lady Cait's forehead and face. She dunks the cloth, again, rinses, and wipes her arms to try and cool her some.

Schnee motions to the young women standing, quietly on the side of the room.

The women quickly, begins to gather some towels, another sheet, a bag, and a small package. She places them on the table and end of the bed. She tries to smile comforting to Lady Cait, but her nervousness shows some.

Schnee smiles as the young women approaches,
Lady Caitilin, this is Kymmie, my niece.
She will be assisting us here.
She is one of the Baroness' nannies and wishes to learn how to help midwife.

The young women gives another smile and nods shyly,
'Ello, Mi Lady, and gives a slight curtsies.

The Drawbridge lowers, half a dozen castle guards come out of the gate it closes behind them. They surround the cart.

Johnny steps forward, glances at the wounded soldier, recognizes the Scottish coat of arms.
He nods to the soldier next to him,
who signals to the gatekeeper and the gate is opened.
The castle guards lower their weapons and scan the area.

Johnny relaxes some,
I am sorry for such, but we must lock down the Fortress at night.

He pauses for a moment,
Knight Caitilin is not available at the moment, but I can get her a message.

Please, bring him in quick. I will have a couple men assist you to the Soldiers quarters. There is a surgeon there. That will help him.

Johnny motions to a few men.

They help the group of men and cart into the courtyard.
Then, lead them to the soldiers quarters.

The rest of the castle guards stand scanning the horizon and area, until all are in safely. They return through the gate. The gate is closed and the Drawbridge raised.
--Old_sergeant
As the castle guardsmen allow them to enter, the old Sergeant murmurs to the gentleman, I thankee sir. The lad 'ere were Town Commander for Carlisle, an' fell at his post when his squad charged the enemy. "E were takin on three at once, when they got through his guard.

As they lift Seamus on a litter and quietly carry him to the infirmary, the Sergeant says, If you please, sir, I am tae wait an' report to Dame Caitilin in person. If there be somewheres a mon mun sit and wait, I should be grateful fer the privilege. An' please bear me respects an' compliments tae the Baroness an' Lairrd Douglas, if either be present.

* word spreads through the fortress of yet another day of battle in the city of Carlisle. Rushing through the wings of the castle, Michelle is unsure where to go with the latest news that has just arrived. She knows Lady Cait is in labour, Lady Snow lies near death, Lord Baldar, Lord Ormuzd, Lord Aragorn, and Lord Nic are all recovering from such horrible wounds. Finally she approaches the bed of Lord Aragorn

Sir, I have a messenger from Carlisle down stairs. He says Lord Paddy has fallen, that the 1st Somerset Army has routed. He said Mighty Miss is dead as well. Sir, tell me Sir, when will the 5th arrive?
