Paddy.douglas
Wolfie excellent excellent

* Paddy extends his hand in greeting

perfect

I think you know all here, please there is a chair just here for you

make your self comfortable

Marklin will get you a plate of hot food

* Paddy turns to one of the side boards and pours Wolfie a nice single malt whiskey

there you go mate

now where were we, ahh yes yes, we were just discussing the return of JO to Galloway

what are all your thoughts on o' JO returning?
Wolfmist_pendragon
Wolf looked at the second person who spoke and nodded, "Thank you."

He wondered what on earth such people would want to summon him for such a meeting as he followed. On the journey to the meeting, he unbuttoned his coat and repositioned his scabbard so that instead of resting on his back between his shoulders, he deftly undid his belt and thread it through the scabbard hilt, letting it hang from his belt which was refastened while making sure his shirt was tucked in and his armour straightened out properly from the ride.

Outside the door he took off his riding coat completely, turned it inside out so that the rough light-absorbing matte side was inside and the more formal shiny leather side was on the outside. He put it on again, displaying his Pendragon coat of arms on his back and sleeve, but didn't button it up so that his black leather archer's armour showed with leather shapes making out another coat of arms on his interwoven chest piece and let his scabbard move freely with his walk.

As the door opened he entered and took off his hat, holding it between his hands while looking around.

*Edit to add:

On Paddy's greeting, Wolf shook his hand and said thanks for the whisky. Sitting down he took a sip, then nearly spluttered it back out when Paddy mentioned Julius Octavius.

"Oh no, not again!? Doesn't that man ever give up!? Sorry, this is news to me. What's he up to now?"
Paddy.douglas
well JO is back in Galloway and said to be active again

adding to that his daughter AO has a standing army in Galloway at this time

could be some interesting times ahead
Wolfmist_pendragon
Wolf sighed and leaned back, "So? What else is new? They always have an army... its tradition. What makes things different this time?"
--Kyle_of_the_brotherhood
Sitting in a chair against the far wall from the fire, ever ready to run any errand for the Earl or his guests. On hearing the names JO and AO, Kyle pulled his Dirk from his boot sleeve and started to rub the blade along the thickened leather gaurd on his left arm. Back and forth, slow and deliberate strokes, ever honing the blade. A gleam of hatred in his eyes.
Paddy.douglas
* Paddy listens to Wolfmist while he watches as Kyle hones his blade

the interest to us is that JO has been away for some time

many of the Campbells have been quiet and all but peaceful
seeking out trade and visiting kin here in the south

I expect that will change with JO back

he has never liked them traveling south unless in a war party

but then I am open to hearing all on this
Wolfmist_pendragon
Wolf shrugged, "how do we know he won't just... jump ship... so to speak? Like the rest of our regulars?"
Paddy.douglas
if he does then the point is moot, and makes our lives much easier

it is easy to plan for that

harder to plan for him sticking around and going about his old ways of coming south looking for war
Jibbs.graham
Wolfmist, nice to see you again. Jibbs shakes Lord Pendragon's hand. I hope we will see you in Carlisle soon. Your efforts in Keswick are well known, I would like to get your opinion on what to do with Raff End. Seems a part of the City that has fallen by the way. Many good solid people living down there in what looks like misery.
--Turoq
Turoq struggled pulling the heavy mantle up around his ears. The wind off the coast had a chill factor of well below freezing. With it half on and half off he crawled out of the lean to tent. The messenger who had wakened him was just gaining his horse. As he turned to walk to the other shelter he shuddered upon seeing friend of many years sleeping on the ground with nothing but the pine boughs under him and more over the top for warmth. Ha, and he had called it a shelter. Approaching, he hesitated a second before waking him. But moved on.

He whispered so the others sleeping nearby would not hear. None with them must know who this stalwart young man was. His life would surely be in danger, as well as that of Lord Arien Rheged, My Lord, a messenger has come. The Douglas's are in need of your services My Lord. We must move with haste.

With a louder voice he yelled at the young man who, on this trip, acted as his servant. Dark-Eagle, get up you lout. The suns near in the sky already and I am in need of something warm to drink and warm me body by. Stirring, Arien, Known as Aridesus in England, looked around as other figures stirred. Looked up at the kindly and smiling old man. Who was trying despirately to put a scoul on his face, and loosing the battle, and smiled back at him.

If Lord Douglas or any of his kin had sent a message here into Wales, than it must be important. Quickly he laid a fire and got a dark thick liquid brew to heating. Old Turoq loved the stuff, Ari.. hated it. As the old man who had raised him in exile and trained him in all the arts of espionage, arms, and politics, drank his brew, Ari quickly made ready to move.

It would be but a slight change of direction and he would be with Lord Douglas by night fall.
--Marlow
Lord Padriac, if the Campbells come, we will be ready. The 4 armies here in Cumbria will hold the wall and keep the south and east covered. Thank Jah they not able to come out of the west.
--Martin_of_douglas_manor
Martin arrives with more wood for the fire. He finds the room filled quite well with Lords and Leaders from all over the County here in the Earls study. My Lord, if there is anything you need, I will be just outside with Marklin. With a nod to the Earl he departs.
--Navigator
Do we know how many sips the Campbells have at their disposal? Navigator looks through a scroll he has. The info I have is too out of date to be of any use. I am sorry about that mi'Lord. If none here have better details I will seek this out in the coming days.
Jamie.douglas
Listening to Jibbs inviting Wolfmist to assist with Raff End gives Jamie an idea. Excuse me, while we talking about shipping, to digress, I have been given the Carlisle Port to build. I am open to any help I can gather.
Wolfmist_pendragon
Wolf heartily shook Jibbs' hand then when he heard Martin he curled a lip and scoffed, "only four!? And I bet they are not even half full or half fed, too! Have you not learned from last time!? Good god man, I hope you have them fully occupied otherwise we will all be sorrier than the Carlisle graveyard!

"If he does come to the wall with his usual vagabonds - that's "if" - despite them being vagabonds they are pretty handy when it comes to blades and shields. If you were one of my students I'd give you a cuff behind the ear for underestimating the enemy like that!"

Wolf scowled and knocked back the rest of his drink, "no, we need to be prepared rather than hopefully adequate. We had no where nearly enough men last time - we will need more men and more rations. Be prepared for a siege with reinforcements and extra shelter to spare - just in case we lose more than once city this time. So be it, I doubt we are nowhere near up to the task of a professional rebuttal to their axe.

"What back-up plans do you have and what is the status?" Wolf looked at Paddy with a steely eye. He wasn't pessimistic, but realistic and remembering the sting of the last invasion.
