[ORP]Merryweather Fortress

Leana
He shut the door behind him, and she leaned against the far wall, her hands tucked behind her, picking nervously at the rich paneling"No....we didn't do anything..." she whispered, almost as a reassurance to herself. She thought she'd know if she'd burned that bridge...

"There'snothingtotalkabout." she wanted to run out the door but knew he was much faster than she was. Instead, she closed her eyes and dropped her head back onto the wall. "Ow."
Wolfmist_pendragon
Wolfmist leaned against the wall next to the door, not to block her escape of entry but just cos it was easier. "What's this about? Is it about... Italy?"
Leana
"Italy was...Italy.." she turned to lean on the windowsil, looking out at the men that still practiced. "I was in the hospital for a week...and Devin still won't tell me how he passed me off." She still had the yellow wrist band tucked somewhere in her journal.
Wolfmist_pendragon
"Passed you off? I don't understand..." Wolfmist shook his head. "Listen about last night... even so, we have shared tents together, the saddle... what's different?"
Leana
"I..." How could she tell him that she didn't see him quite the same anymore. Some time ago...she didn't know when..he had ceased to be her mentor and friend. "I don't know.." And that...was very much the truth.
Wolfmist_pendragon
Wolfmist watched her. He watched her the whole time. She seemed scared, afraid of him, even. He sighed and threw his hands up behind his head, stretching off. "Just... tell me... what is it? Why are we different?"

It wasnt long ago that Leana was a fresh-faced recruit. She had come far and he was proud of her. But now it seemed that out of all the evils that had ever blocked her way, this... truth... whatever it was that seemed to be eluding them both... was defeating them. "You know that you can tell me anything. Everything. Together we can defeat this... whatever it is thats making you uncomfortable." He wanted to walk to her, to hold her, to make her feel comfortable, but he didnt want to scare her any more than she was.
Leana
Sighing, she turned away from the window and walked slowly towards him, her hands clenching and unclenching in her sleeves. There was really only one way she could get her message across, and it frightened her to do it. She'd never so muched as looked at anyone...in that way..before. Sure, she'd had her school girl crushes...and none of them ever came to fruition. But this was...different.

She had seen her mother and father interact on quiet days when they thought the kids weren't looking. Lea attempted to copy one scene, taking her hand, placing it against his cheek, then bringing his head down to place a kiss on his forehead. "That's how we're different.." she said quietly, then slipped behind him and out the door, horrified at what she'd done.
Wolfmist_pendragon
Wolfmist paused, the world and everything in it numb to his senses. She Loves me!? he turned to ask her why, but she'd already gone. He ran out of the door to look for her but... she was gone. "Lea... thank you." he said to no one in particular.

After a few minutes of standing silently, replaying the situation in his head like a movie they had seen back in...

He turned and approached the dining room again, but totally unaware of the renewed activity around the castle, seating himself cupping his face in his hands. He felt tired... more tired than the ride to the castle or even at the facility...

Tosher is an outragous liar in the taverns, full of lots f whinging and loud boosts. While JO is plain rude in his talks. Not wanting to hear from anyone who does not live in Scotland, and I bet then would not listen to any not agree with him. Both came over as bigots and loud mouths.

As to Haish, ahh he is well and living well, his farm seems very lonely with only himself, but he is flourishing.

* chuckling

ahh Hamish is a good stick. I hear Paddy has invited him for the Ceremony and Celebrations. So looking forward to seeing him.

Tosher, well enough said. As for JO, thought he would be more willing to listen, not just go off like I heard. Too bad for him I say.
Leana
Her feet carried her outside and away from the main castle grounds. "How could you have done that!" she berated herself as she walked. Lea was just barely eighteen...he probably only saw her as a child.."But he also knows what you've gone through...more than the average 20 year old of your time."

"GAH!!!!!" Lea let loose her frustration, kicking a rock in the process and painfully jarring her ankle. She spent the next twenty minutes hobbling farther down the forest path. The gates of the keep were coming into sight now, and she wondered if she should pass over the moat. It was still early; she wouldn't be out long. Though her stomach growled, she knew just where there were some berry bushes that were ripe. In the end, she hesitantly approached the guard that had let them in the night before.

"Is it all right to leave the grounds for an hour or two?"
Leana
She crossed the bridge, looking down into the still water with a brief laugh, wondering if there really were crocodiles down there. Outside the walls, the long drive wound through the forest until it met up with the main road. Lea jogged along it for a time, enjoying the morning sunlight. The activity took her mind off the...earlier events of the morning...a blush crept over her cheeks just thinking of it. Shaking her head at her own foolishness, she turned off the drive and onto a forest path.

Little light filtered through the upper branches, which were heavy in midsummer greenery. However, the path was well kept with only a few roots and holes to jump. She was here, alone with her own thoughts, trying to pinpoint exactly when things had changed. But, like most, it was a gradual process, she decided, remembering the first time she'd looked at her best friend Jake, who she'd known since they were both in diapers, with new eyes.

She stopped after nearly twenty minutes, out of breath for the moment. "I'm comparing Wolfmist to a 12 year old boy and 12 year old sentiments...Jah, I'm hopeless! The man's much older...and he's been married before.." She walked a little ways off the path toward a large welcoming willow and sat, leaning against its trunk. "What would you have done, Mom..." she whispered, though only the boughs and the clouds overhead heard it.

Lea didn't know how long she sat there fiddling with fern leaves and watching critters dart in and out of the ground cover. Only when the protests from her hungry stomach became unmanageable did she stand and head back for the path....

But she couldn't find it.

Within moments the forest around her became repressively quiet. Lea closed her eyes, trying to remember which way she'd gone and cursing herself for leaving the trail. It had only been a few yards away. "You could...NO! It would draw an inquisitor...the path is there; it's close...You'll get out of this under your own steam.." She took a few steps to the left, but the trees had begun to mold into each other. Each looked the same as the other and nothing was familiar.

Something moved behind her, and she turned, not seeing a thing, but it was enough to draw the phantoms out of her mind. She could hear the low snarl of an infected wolf. Lea walked quickly away from the area, hoping she'd meet up with the trail sooner or later, then she'd just follow it back to the road.

Wolfmist paced his room. No one had turned up at brunch and dinner seemed to be cancelled. Everything in the Castle seemed to have gone quiet and it felt as if everyone inside it had fled. He had asked the kitchen for a simple tray to take up to his room, and while he entertained his belly with a sandwich, he mused on Lea's escapade, waving the sandwich around between bites, like a conductor's baton in sync with his thoughts and logic processing.

He sat on the bed when he stuffed a final corner into his mouth, then reached out for another one from the tray on his bed. He was getting worried, it was getting dark and Leana hadnt turned up; even Lady Snow had disappeared for a time. He sighed audibly, and looked at the tray. Over half were left, and he realised that Lea might not have eaten yet.

He grabbed a pillow and shead its pillow case, and used it to wrap the sandwiches, and when he left the room and the castle into the stables, he packed them carefully into the saddle pack before strapping up his Clydesdale.

Leading his horse out by the reins, he looked up at the Manor of the castle, studying its windows for a sign of life; only a couple revealed candle light and he bowed his head against the night as he approached the portcullis.

Snowlynx finally reached her last round of checks for the day. She collects the list of the coming and goings checks from the Castle guard on duty. A young lad, nervously, running through the list.

~Knight Quarter Master Blacknick of the Blood Oath Brotherhood and his Retinue went out on patrol.
~Knight Marshall PaddytheScot of the Blood Oath Brotherhood went on the patrol.
~Lady Caitilin de Stryke de Lusignon was in attendance of their Retinue.
~Knight Quarter Master Fronz of the Blood Oath Brotherhood has arrived.
~Lady Leana left the Fortress a few hours ago.
~All Retinues have returned with the all clear for patrol and are bedding down and will stay the night here and leave in the morn...

Snowlynx interupts the young guard in his report. "Stop...Did you say Lady Leana left the Fortress a few hours ago? Who was her escort?"

The young guard freezes in his spot and words, "aaaaahh, She did not have an escort that I am aware of Baroness. She was alone...I..I...was busy at the moment...and ahhhh...I didn't have a chance to answer her request...when I turned she was gone."
Snowlynx
Snowlynx places both hands on the small desk, looks the young lad directly in the eyes, trying to control her temper. She speaks in a slighly elevated voice, "You mean to tell me guard! That you let a young lady go walking around the country side. Without an escort! And she has not returned after a few hours! And you have not notified anyone yet!!" Snow's temper starts to escape her.

The guard sits there, froze in his spot, scared to respond.

Snowlynx grips the small desk, almost ready to pick it up and throw it. "Answer me immediately, guard!!" Snow roars.

The guard, answers quietly, embarrassed of his lack of observance, "No, Ma'Lady...not until just now."

Snowlynx looks at him with a look that could kill, "Guard! you will get off your rump. And run as fast as you can...as if your job depends on it...which it does!!! And find Knight Marshall Paddy, Knight QuarterMaster Nic, and any other able bodied man and soldier, immediately, and have them to meet me in the stable to gear up for a search party."

The guard stands, looking in complete shock.

Snowlynx looks at the young lad, and slams her fist on the desk, "Now!!!!!"

Snowlynx watches the lad run out the door and she shakes her head. She heads to the stables to saddle up and grab her gear.
