"food oh its so good to see food again "

Sassy giggles at Anjolique and presumes from her silence she would like some wine, she remembers last time they where in a tavern together they got rather drunk drinking some wine
Sassy opens the bottle of wine and then pours it into two glasses

Sassy and Anjolique raise there glasses and they clink
Cheers Anjolique to England and friendship

Enjoy your lunch Anjolique

Sassy takes a sip from her glass
wow thats some good wine
she starts to eat her lunch , she looks over at Anjolique who seems to be enjoying her lunch, Sassy smiles to see her friend enjoying her lunch

Several miles northeastof Egremont, the sun shone brilliantly in the sky above Cumberland, despite the dark clouds looming over Carlisle. All day the winds of war had blown savagely about the city as the NNGO mouthpieces for Anto_Capone seized the positions once more that rightfully belonged to the legally elected council! They had thrust their way into the Castle there in Carlisle, and their taunts and boasts fouled the air.

Sir James had been sent by Thackery to the children's camp and he looked about, quite moved by what he saw. The children were divided according to age, with three assigned to each tent, and the six tents ringed a grassy area with a large fire pit in the center. A larger tent stood to one side, small tables and chairs set up beneath its canopy, and the children all congregated there now, having a breakfast of porridge and tea. Their teacher, and two volunteers from Carlisle, tended to them, the adults raising their hands in greeting at the group of men arriving.

Thackery had provided Sir James with the horses, wagons, pony carts, and the family coach, with which to move the camp, the children and their belongings, to Wallace Castle. He had also sent along with Sir James, an armed retinue to accompany them in safety to Egremont, as he had just this day learned that despite Egremont now being independent, Lord Osbert was no longer harbormaster, and had been replaced, by order of the NNGO council, by some NNGO goon! Thackery would take no chances with the safety of these children, and the retinue stood ready to fight should need be. He would put nothing past those NNGO zombies who hung on Anto's every word and hurried to do his evil bidding.

"Let's allow the children to finish their breakfast," he said to the men as he was approached by one of the adults," We shall be able to evacuate them quickly, I believe, as it appears they have very little."

Sir James put out his hand to the man hurrying from the tent where the children sat eating. The look on the man's face said it all as they shook hands. These children had to be taken to safety immediately! The situation was growing more fraught with danger by each passing hour!
Anjolique

Anjolique was just looking at all the food on the table just couldn't say another word . Then Sassy gets a bottle of wine and Anjolique eyes open wide as Sassy pour then each a glass then sassy say's "Cheers Anjolique to England and friendship Enjoy your lunch Anjolique" Then Anjolique raise her glass up and says " To England and to all who fight for her " She took a sip of her wine and smiled . "YOu have always had good taste in wine Sassy." Anjolique starts to eat and she smiles so happy and says " Hey Sassy the food is so good I can't help myself , just have to eat it all up."

I was back from Beeston, having come to Egremont, originally to go on holiday from the bookbinder's appreticeship-----then stayed, because of war----- when Thackery notified me of the role he would appreciate my taking in the location of eighteen orphans at Wallace Castle. I worked with Alice May in the kitchen, organizing and making more accessible, the large quantities of food needed to feed the children. There were huge vats to be fetched from the basement of the castle, and cooking implements of every size and shape that had been packed away ages ago, and these were wrestled into more convenient locations.

Alice May ordered that the additional washing vessels be carried upstairs as well, and were stationed in the yard for future use of washing the clothing of the troop coming from the children's camp. The maids hurried about upstairs, preparing bedrooms on the third floor among those rooms, remaining to deceased family members long departed from the dim and cavernous upper floor of the castle. I gazed up at the third story windows and then turned and made off for pasture where the horses grazed and gracefully loped about the rolling hills.

I leapt upon the back of one of four Uncle Kel and Aunt Hikenai had been given by Aunt Hik's brother, Chrisiusmaximus, as a wedding gift. It was the one she called Madron, the one she swore was Drambuie's double. I like riding bareback, but in these wearisome days I would not put myself at a disadvantage, and rode the horse forth to the Wallace stables, where one of the lads helped with the saddle, placing it upon the horses back, as I breathed in the scent of soap and fine leather. I would on go to join the wagons transporting the children, and escort them back the rest of the way to Wallace Castle.

I wandered down to the stables where a few of the castle guards were seeing to their horses. They expected to go to Carlisle in the morning, and it seemed like with everyone else, because of the war, we were going to lose their company, too.
Osbert stayed in his office working out grants and vying for food to stockpile for Egremont's taverns. He followed every lead for a bargain and watched the market through out the day. He had made Egremont the revoltin'est town in Cumberland history and worked hard to help oust the NNGO harbormaster.
We didn't see much of him at all. We never see Ela we have moved to the castle and Miss Susanne and Su are gone south, due to the war, Auntie Hik and Uncle Kel were fighting, and though Sassy has come back to Wallace Castle, we don't see a whole lot of her, nor of Lilith......
And now, on top of having to watch out for James, I find out that EIGHTEEN, count 'em, eighteen orphans are coming to Wallace Castle to live til the end of the war?!
Secretly, I hope to myself, and I never thought I would ever say this, but I hope we get some more adults around this place!
Osbert
"Wipe your feet, Roland! Alice would love to jerk a knot in your young ear!" I sang out to the lad before he could sneak into the hallway wearing those muddy boots...like a bird, the lad is...my voice echoed down the quiet ways, and flowed through the rooms as if searching for another silent voice...

"I guess you've heard about the swarm of children that are about to descend upon us-we're about to have our little world turned on its head for a while. I hope that you and James will show these children your best; they have seen terrible times, and it is our sworn duty to Jah to shelter and comfort them."

"What say we raid the kitchen, grab us some food, and head upstairs to get a start on it; we have lots of spare room on the fourth floor, and can put up a good many in the two great rooms."

A few hours and a few blows later, we had cleared sufficient space to set up eight temporary cots; they would be arriving in advance of the children, along with their few worldly possessions...

Sir James rode at full gallop toward Wallace Castle.

Thank Jah, praise Jah, the children were all moved safely to the castle yesterday. He could not believe the news he bore Lady Sassy Marius.....
Carlisle was now under Scottish rule!

Carlisle, the capitol of Cumberland, was now part of Scotland!

England was violated and left bereft of her northernmost city. In his heart Sir James felt very low for judging from the kingdom's reaction to the invasion by NNGO, he knew the rest of England had written Cumberland off long ago. There was likely no help to be had except for those armies already in the county, and with decisions made seemingly arbitrarily, those armies seemed helpless to prevent the further slide toward the doom Sir James felt for England.
Osbert
This letter had arrived for Sassy Wallace Marius and Os carried it to her unopened, but anxious to hear news from Hikenai, he lingered in the castle great room awaiting his little sister's arrival downstairs.

This was the letter.

Dumfries, Galloway, Scotland
June 1458

Dearest Sister,
I hope things are well with you in Egremont! Thank you so much for taking care of all the orphans from Carlisle, who arrived recently at Wallace Castle, Sas. I know it is much to ask of you but, I appreciate it more than you know, dear sister! It is something that is giving me much comfort, Sassy!
My own situation is this: I am recovering nicely in Dumfries, do not get out to the taverns much though... the last time I was in Fally's the climate was cool, rather uncomfortable so I left. Personally speaking, I would never have come here sister, but I was following orders, which I am wont to do, as I had great trust in our leaders. I am ready now to withdraw from the military and recover at Wallace Castle, sister, once I face my charges here in Dumfries. I am charged with public disorder, but also in the bill of indictment, it seems I am charged with more, being a traitor-----I am confused as to how to plead and requested a barrister. I hit no one, and three huge men attacked me Sassy! I had a dream last night and remembered it clearly for the first time!
My most grievous wounds came from the most unlikely two people, our cousin Coast Wallace and his friend, Runrig, yet, it seemed an act of mercy for I felt I would die from the outset of the attack. I never got in one hit. It is a miracle I survived my wounds. I lost so much blood Sassy. Blood..... and so much more dear Sassy. I will have to tell you of that loss later for I cannot bear to describe it here. And later, Coast himself, took grievous wounds. Many seemed slaughtered yet will live to fight again...but for now I will not. I only seek to come to Egremont. I am done.
I hope that eventually when I have served my time I can come home. I hope the penalty for my crime will not be death! Please pray to Jah I can return to Egremont and await your brother there.
I would love to lighten your burden of caring for those eighteen children!
Thank you again Sassy,
Hikenai

Runs in performing backflips and throwing pies....quickly hugs Osbert and Sassy and then spots Kelster glaring at her angrily. She ran out the door before he could kick her in the shins again laughing all the way...

Mwa ha ha ha

Sassy_anne_wallace
Sassy reads the letter from Hikenai
after reading the letter Sassy looks worried
Ooh my Jah I do hope Hik is gonna be ok Os
she then see's MnM do a backflip and head straight out the door Sassy giggles at her.

Sassy then goes upstairs to check on the young children to make sure they are asleep they had such a busy day with Sassy they been playing outside in the garden for most of the day,had a picnic outside at on a blanket and the children running around and playing all sorts of games, Sassy be a bit worn out but she has had loads of fun she cant remember the last time she had this much fun, some of the games Sassy just sat and watched the children playing she just looked at them and smiled at them , then they headed back to the castle

Sassy took them upstairs and helped them get ready for bed and read them bedtime stories about some of the adventures Sassy had with her brothers Kel and Os and sister Lil the one of the children fell asleep on Sassy and she carried her over to the bed and tucked her in, the other children got into there beds as Sassy said goodnight and Sassy turned out the light and goes downstairs foe a wee drink and a wee something to eat

Did you see that now, 'Tocia!?
As soon as Mistress Sassy had gone to see to the younger children I turned to my sister. I widened my eyes before rolling them.
The crazy, backflipping, muttering woman had made sure every one of those pies went to waste! I wanted to bust her jaws for wasting perfectly good food! Evidently, shehad never gone hungry. She was one of them spoiled gentry, always handed things, nothing having value.

I looked at those ruined pies and my eyes narrowed to slits.

Silly woman.
Osbert
Jah have mercy! These noisy kids are drivin' me mad! Every time I turn around, I'm bumpin' into one of the little imps! Poor Alice has been short staffed, what with so many folks gone off, and she's been putting in some long hours with the upkeep. The three lads were a handful by themselves; now with eighteen more to keep herded together, it's nonstop from first light to lights out...

Sass has been a blessed help. I've worried about her, and the heartache she's going through. Sass, of all people...she was so mad the other night, she went out and started a fight!! That's just not the sister I know! The whole world has gone crazy on this family, I swear. Lil's gone into hiding again, Kel is somewhere swinging his sword around and kicking people out of his tavern, and last I heard from Hik, she was off somewhere in Scotland, a prisoner of war running a tavern. All I have to show for it is a slit throat; I guess I'm the lucky one...

I should have known something was up with Sass when she showed up out of the blue back about a month ago. I'd never seen her like that; instead of the ebullient pink cheerleadery sister I'd come to know and love, she just wasn't the same...we've had some good talks by the fireplace late at night, about all these mysteries that come and go through our lives, about how the worst often brings out the best, about the meaning of family.

Life goes on, amidst all the chaos of the moment.

Sassy walks downstairs after putting the wee ones to bed after another really busy day, she see's her brother Os
Os my dear brother I have missed ye
she runs up to him and gives him a big hug with tears rolling down her face

I hope ye is here to help me with these wee children my dear brother, they are such a joy to be around, not knowing what has really happened is so nice to hear the sound of laughter of the children, reminds me of when we where all little bro.

I think Alice has put some tea out on the table as I wasn't unable to eat with the children, I was a wee bit tired earlier please follow me bro, I bet thee is rather hungry

They both walk into the dinning room and sit down have a wee something to eat and drink , they catch up with talk of the children and she avoids his questions about Scott by talking about how nice it was to see her friend Anjolique and how she missed her and her help with the children. Os begins to notice how she has been avoiding every question he asks about Scott since she has arrived back , he gives her the look of concern he does and she notices how worried he looks

I am sorry bro I just unsure on how to tell you, but here goes ye know I have not been happy in sometime with my regular visits to Egremont to see ye all, I have not seen Scott in some time even when I was home in Penrith, Alice had a letter from the bishop I saw recently, Scott and I are not married now got the annulments papers a few days ago, tis probably why I not really been myself of late bro

she takes a big sip of her drink and gives her bro a hug

"Sass, if I hang out with you for very long, I'll surely put a little meat on my bones!"
I laugh at her. Times like this make me think of all the times we'd had to fend for ourselves, and how sometimes we went hungry, but, here we sat together, as brother and sister, survivors...

...a blood river dries up, a million stars will never be born, and there's always another crossroads, and someone looking for a lost soul or two...

"Sis, I can only imagine what's going on with you right now-not the most propitious of times, granted, but neither is it the end of your world. Take your time to heal..."

Forever doesn't last as long as it once did...
