Safety and protection of the Empire were not just duties for the Emperor Ludwig. They had become a real obsession. Concerned to defend each of his subjects, concerned to defend each of the provinces, he knew that his reign would be punctuated by conflicts. He was convinced, that such battles were his destiny. He would never stop fighting against evil to safeguard the well being of his multiple subjects.

And because the Empire was large, every week, every month brought its difficultie ; obstacles, that it behooved to him to overcome, in order to enable the Empire to experience happiness, and healing, as expected. For months, he gave the best of himself for this Great nation, and toiled, day after day, to build a better future.

To ensure the security of his subjects, to build such a better future, he relied on brave and exceptional soldiers. People willing to die for their ideals, and for the sake of their families, their brothers, their homes. There were a lot of heroes, in the Empire. And among those heroes, there was the Aquilae Imperatoris. Created by Emperor Alveran, the Imperial Guard provided protection of the Empire and the Emperor, for years, with self-abnegation and dedication. Some soldiers were fighting enemies for over a year.

Proud of such efforts, the Emperor decided to pay a personal tribute to the Imperial Guard. Thus, he ordered to the Imperial Marshal Ranian to gather her troops in the courtyard of the Imperial Palace of Strasbourg.

Your fight was pure and fair : you saw wrong, and tried to right it ; saw suffering and tried to heal it ; saw chaos and tried to stop it.

Today, the Empire owes you much; each of its vassal kingdoms, each of its provinces being able to count on your presence and your help when it is needed. Since our coronation, you've answered all our calls, and long before that We were crowned, you already answered the orders of our Predecessors. Even when fatigue and weariness earned you, you transcended yourself to win important battles. Even when bitterness and suffering invaded you, you transcended yourself for the Empire. If the composition of the imperial army was extended significantly in recent months, you have to be sure that the place and the statute of the Aquilae Imperatoris didn't change. The Aquilae Imperatoris has always been and will always be the heart of the imperial army, and the guarantor of order and justice in Our territory. Depuis des années, depuis des mois, vous servez l'Empire avec fidélité, et dévotion. Depuis des années, depuis des mois, vous combattez avec courage pour protéger le peuple impérial. D'Est en Ouest, du Nord au Sud, vous arpentez les routes notre vaste territoire pour combattre le crime, l'injustice, et la folie humaine ; et ce, afin que la paix et la sérénité puisse régner sur Notre Grande Nation. Au cours de votre carrière, au cours de votre engagement, vous avez lutté contre de nombreux ennemis ; tous, animés de funestes projets. Sans votre concours, il n'y a pas à douter que notre Empire aurait connu la ruine, et aurait sombré dans l'anarchie la plus totale. Aujourd'hui, notre Grande Nation est un bloc uni et compact. Aujourd'hui, notre Grande Nation, par sa force, par sa cohésion, par sa foi, illumine l'Europe toute entière. Il n'est pas de royaume plus stable, il n'est pas de royaume plus inébranlable que le Saint-Empire Romain Germanique. Combien de personnes avez vous sauvé, durant ces dernières années ? Combien de duchés et de cités avez vous préservé ? Nul ne pourrait le dire, tant ils sont nombreux. Aucun de vous n'a besoin d'être idéalisé. Votre combat est pur et juste : vous avez vu le mal, et essayé de le corriger ; vu la souffrance, et tenté de l'apaiser ; vu le chaos, et essayé de l'arrêter.

Aujourd'hui, l'Empire vous doit beaucoup ; chacun de ses royaumes vassaux, chacune de ses provinces ayant pu compter sur votre présence, et sur votre aide, lorsqu'il en avait besoin. Depuis notre couronnement, vous avez répondu à tous nos appels ; et bien avant que Nous soyons couronné, vous répondiez déjà aux ordres de nos prédécesseurs. Nous savons que depuis notre couronnement, certaines de nos décisions ont pu faire naître chez vous des questionnements, légitimes, s'il en est. Ainsi, la création d'un Conseil de Guerre Impérial, et la nomination de Généraux impériaux, a-t-elle pu vous sembler surprenante. Mais à l'heure où le danger est toujours plus grand, à l'heure où nos ennemis sont de plus en plus organisés, il devenait évident que l'Aquilae Imperatoris ne pouvait plus, d'elle seule, protéger l'ensemble du territoire impérial. Il Nous appartenait donc, en tant que garant de la sécurité de nos sujets, de doter notre Grande Nation, des instruments nécessaires pour assurer sa survie. Ainsi donc, l'armée impériale s'est-elle étendue, pouvant compter sur le soutien sans faille, de nouveaux stratèges et de nouveaux soldats. Si l'armée impériale s'est élargie de façon considérable ces derniers mois, la place de l'Aquilae Imperatoris quant à elle, n'a pas changé et ne changera pas. L'Aquilae Imperatoris a toujours été et restera toujours le cœur de l'armée impériale ; et le garant de l'ordre et de la justice, sur notre territoire. Tant qu'il y aura un Empire, il y aura l'Aquilae Imperatoris. Et tant qu'il y aura l'Aquilae Imperatoris, il y aura l'Empire.

A n'en pas douter, le chemin qui doit conduire l'Empire vers la paix éternelle est encore long. Chaque semaine, chaque mois apporte son lot de nouveaux renégats, de nouveaux brigands. Chaque semaine, chaque mois apporte ses nouvelles menaces, ses nouveaux fléaux. Il ne nous sert à rien d'être idéalistes ; nous devons rester pragmatiques : il y aura toujours des ennemis, des fous, des voleurs, pour s'attaquer à l'Empire et à son peuple. Mais pour faire face à ces ennemis, il y aura toujours l'Empereur et l'Aquilae Imperatoris. Pour faire face à ces barbaries, il y aura toujours l'Empereur et les soldats impériaux. Nos destins sont entremêlés.

Braves soldats, partons donc en direction de l'Ouest, chasser ces brigands qui nous assiègent. Montrons leur la colère et la puissance de l'Aigle Impérial. Qu'ils tremblent devant le son de nos cors. Qu'ils tremblent devant la marche de l'Aquilae Imperatoris et des armées impériales. Deo volente.

Debout à coté des autres chevaliers, le Grand Maitre de l'ODL écoutait en silence le discours de l'empereur. D'un léger regard, elle observa les Lames et se sentit fière d'appartenir à ces rangs.

Sa Majesté Impérial avait à cœur de motiver ses troupes et cela faisait plaisir. Tous ces soldats donnaient tout d'eux-mêmes depuis des mois, et étaient prêts à donner jusqu'à leur vie pour l'Empire.
