(ORP) Royal Parade & Coronation of King Cullan Holifard

Zanlarrr
Zanlarrr arrived late to London, and slept poorly in the unfamiliar surroundings. So when morning came, he found himself still exhausted. He pulled back the shades to his room, and squinted into the morning light. He saw that the streets were already filling up for the day's event, and realized he best hurry if he was going to make it to the ceremony on time. Turning away from the window, Zan went and got ready.

Shortly there after, dressed in his naval uniform, Zan checked himself out a final time before the mirror. His various medals were arrayed against the dark cloth of his tunic, and his dress sword was belted on as sort of a counterpoint. Satisfied that everything was in place, he gathered up his hat, and descended down to the streets where the crowds were gathered.

Settling his hat on his head, Zanlarrr turned and headed towards the Tower.

Tuka
Tuka ran through the streets like a crazy cart with no driver. He was late and the Commander is going to be disappointed. As if this was not bad enough he has to get lost in the crowd too and not find his army fellows. He found them at last the moment the Commander gave the orders to join formation and raise Sussex Army banners.
Good he did not forget his assigned one. He pat Gia on his back whisper did she ask about me? am I so late?
He stand straight and unwrap the army banner and raise it.

Sandoval
Sandoval was nearly knocked over by Tuka as he sprinted into the line. She was busy unfurling the Sussex Navy banner and was a bit off balance. She in turn bumped against a young lad nearby and murmured an apology. It sure was getting crowded in the streets. The flag slowly unrolled and she raised the standard over her head, proud to bear the blue and gold arms of the navy.

She shuffled a bit closer to the Sussex Army representatives- it was only fitting that the citizens of Sussex paraded together, seeing as they defended the county together all the time.

Hello Tuka, nice to see that you're here. Have you seen Opifex? He's a tall man, a bit loud. My fellow navy representative... Who should be here...

Sandoval nodded a greeting to the other army and navy representatives gathering around as well.

Eumelia
The journey from Chard to London was long and tiresome, Eumelia hardly believed she would once arrive. However, as a Knight Templar, a member of the Devon Navy and a new Peer of the Kingdom in the meantime, she would have never missed the opportunity to attend such an occasion.

It was not easy to find a proper accomodation in the crowded town - so many people came to see the ceremony from all around the Realm. Finally however, she managed to find a relatively neat appartment on the second floor of a local tavern (the owner was swearing this was his best room for a young lady...), where she could spend the night - carefully bolting the door of her room, of course.

In the morning of the parade Eumelia put on her finest dress combined with the Templar's and the Navy's uniform. She carefully wrapped up her only jewel - a baroness tiara -, deciding she will wear it only at the ceremony itself, being too precious to be worn on the streets of London. Having finished her preparations she left the tavern and started towards the Tower, tryingto find some acquinted faces in the big crowd...

She smirked as Kazzia returned her fallen flask, “Thank ye.” Daisy promptly tucked her friend into her pocket and took on a mildly defensive tone, “Well, she was annoying me. What was I supposed to throw at her?” She glanced behind Kazzia for that infernal maid and finished the subject with a low growl, projecting for her benefit should she be cowering in the hall. “And if she knows what’s best for her, she’ll keep her distance!”

At the mention of her father’s pending nuptials Daisy started muttering under her breath and uncorked her flask for a nip. “The Princess! She can… never mind” and squashed the thought with another drink. She really wanted to be supportive of her father but was having a difficult time coming to terms with the thought of a new step-mother. There had been another candidate in the past that Daisy had set her heart on. Unfortunately, that union had never come to pass.

Daisy remained still as Kazzia tightened her stays and she lifted up her long dark hair out of the way for her better access. She let out an impressive huff, “Oy! yer good at this! Aye, call yer maid, if ye will… I’ll slip on my shoes here before we go. My hair?” She glanced at it in the mirror and cringed. She was an unkempt disaster. “Eh, yer Katiya can work on it as I stuff food in my face. Now let’s go see the other girls! I’m going to treat the lot of ya with my family’s special recipe Wedding Tea.” She grinned eagerly to the lass and hooked arms with her as she led them quickly from the room. “We don’t wanna be late for the festivities, aye?"

Lav heard the bells chiming off again in the city, time always went so quickly when there was so much to do she thought. Still they were just about there. "Ma'am, it is time to head down now. Ladies." She sent a maid off to let Kazzia and Daisy know to join them, and another to tell the King it was time.

Aggnes.holifard
Aggnes, now fully painted and decorated, glanced round as the last two arrivals entered. "Daisy - good, spot on time, neither too early nor too late. Good lass - efficient use of time. You'll find a present for you in the box over there. Shame you missed Saira's explanation of the symbolism, I think you'd have enjoyed it."

She looked round at the group. "I think we're all here, and all about ready? Just remember - today, we're in a support role. Today is about Cullan, and we're here to support him, and NOT give him anything to worry about - ruling a kingdom is quite enough for him to be going on with. He's already proved that if you give him a job to do, he does it to the very best of his considerable ability, so in fairness to him, we do the same.

"Our job today is to give a performance to the people of England. They paid out for this, they get what they paid for, or we don't get repeat custom. If we can enjoy doing it, that's a bonus, but we need to look as if we're enjoying it - and with the sort of teamwork we've already got here, that should be entirely possible.

"Oh, and one thing - someone here said I'd collected a group of troublemakers. They were quite right - intelligent troublemakers, I hope. What that means is people with brains, initiative, and self-confidence, as well as a sense of humour. Winding me up is fair game, if you think you can win, though I wouldn't bet on that if I were you. Causing the slightest trouble for Cullan, today at least, is not. Understood?"

Daisy joined the group just as she was cramming the last bit of sausage and biscuit into her mouth. She dipped into an over-exaggerated curtsy towards the Princess, still chewing food as she commented, “I am happy to please ye with my fashionable lateness.” She craned her neck and looked about for the maid… she had instructed her to bring refreshment for her and the other ladies as soon as possible. They would need their strength for the events ahead!

Daisy raised a quizzical brow at mention of a present. She lifted the lid and cast the briefest of glances over the goblet. Her lips formed into a moue, “Charming." She swiftly closed the box and passed it onto one of the nearby servants to take to her room. The item was gorgeously crafted but was also another reminder of the pending alliance between their families.

Quote:

She grinned slyly and nudged her sister with her elbow, lowering her voice. “We should probably loosen up our laces for this 'performance', eh?” Truthfully, Daisy had no intention of ruining this day for her father because of her love and loyalty to her family. The interlopers invading her close-knit family, however, were another story entirely.

Maria_madalena
Madalena travelled alone from Chard to London. She had heard that the King's wedding and coronation was taking place in these dark days of April. Not that she could see the light, even if it was right in front of her. Moved by curiosity more than by the duty, she endured the long trip and spent a night in a clumsy room that had cost her a small fortune.

In the next morning, she dressed all in red and gold and covered herself with her new dark mantle. Her long and brown hair was pinned into a knot at the nape of her the neck, in a beautiful chignon. She had no jewels or other adornements to blazon besides the elegant copper hairpin that held her hair, but she did not forget to wrap her dagger to her right tight.

London was lousy and loud. The stinging smell made Madalena cover her nose with her mantle as she went through the muddy streets, following the hysterical crowd to the Tower of London.

As she arrived, she immediately recognised Eumelia's lovely face.

"Eumelia!" Madalena called and waved.

She tugs on black boots, slipping a knife into the top of one, then shakes the dark burgandy dress down over them. Straightening, she braids her hair and pins it in a circle around her head, out of her way. As ever, function wins over fashion, and she has earned every line of her tanned and weathered face, every bone in her too-thin body. "Bah, no hiding it. This is who I am, what I am. They can like it or lump it."

Two more knives under her sleeves, and she trots down the stairs, and out, making for the abbey rather than the parade. Going shanks-pony among the mounted nobles has never appealed to her.

Looking round, she sees she isn't the only one skipping the parade. She nods a polite greeting to Kalens and clasps her hands behind her back to wait. It was a beautiful day.

Kelster
Kelster had never been to a coronation. He had been invited before but never attended one. He had always though them to be just pomp and ceremony. After all, it was what a monarch did for there country that really counted in the end. This time though he felt he had to attend because it was also the wedding of Aggnes.

He had great respect for Aggnes and her work during and after the war so he was glad to be here. There was also the fact that his sister, Jessa was also a bridesmaid and he had promised her to keep an eye on her husband, Edward.

He looked around to see if he could spot his Sister and his Brother in law but he saw no sign of them just yet
. I think this may well be a great day, he said to himself.

Kalens had sat on the steps and pulled out a small bound sheaf of papers of collected Reformed Church prayers that he was going to bring to the monks of Nottingham priory to illustrate.
He'd look up from time to time and saw a lady approaching. Getting to his feet she had gotten close enough to recognize it was Lady Lark and he smiled warmly. Kalens returned the friendly nod in greeting before rolling up the sheaf and tucking it back into the sleeve pocket.

Sara made her way through the crowds already lined up for the parade, she passed many familiar faces, but didn't stop to chat as she knew she was rather late. The instructions had said be there at 7am, well it wasn't that far after that surely? Maybe if she was stealthy, Raella and Elsbet wouldn't notice that she had overslept somewhat? Maybe it was leftovers from the relaxed lifestyle she had had while staying with the monks, but more likely it was the over-indulgence in ale last night in the tavern. Oh well, she was here now and had finally spotted the Lewes contingent gathered around their dragon preparations.

"Hi ladies! I'm sorry I'm a little late, but... um... oh yes!" A bright idea struck her. "It was those men you asked me to inspect, you see. They were just not up to my standards so I've spent the last few hours 'preparing' them for you." She nodded for added emphasis. "But they will be along shortly and definitely should not disappoint!" Sara grinned.

Elsbet
She's just finished making sure that no curious fingers had been poking about the iced cake when she overheard Sara's explanation about being late.. and chuckled. The excuse didn't surprise her at all. Having known the young woman for several years, Elsbet was well acquainted with Sara's keen eye on the ideal manly physique.
She was even able to instruct the baroness on the perfect muscular belly.. something about being able to scrub laundry?

A small worry began to tiptoe across Elsbet's forehead..
"I do hope that gently maids with delicate constitution don't begin to fall faint all haphazardly. That just won't do"
