(ORP) Royal Parade & Coronation of King Cullan Holifard

Dunpeal

There were so many people Dunpeal was a bit confused. Trying to identify some familiar faces among the populace, he was lucky to see the faces of Eumelia and Madalena.

Oh, hello Eumelia and Madalena, so lucky to see some familiar faces in the middle of so many people here.

We comes closer.

It is the event of the year and everyone has come. Are you as excited as I am?

Coronations, Parades, oh the fun! She rode fast just to arrive in time for the event. Well for the most part. Though she did look at all the wonderful things happening with the parade she debated to stay for this, or just to head on and wait at the end for the actual ceremony.

Either way though, she was far to late to attend to any duties, and so sat to admire everything at least for a bit. She was simply excited to see Cullan crowned King and then that wedding tween the new King and his Queen would be at the very least amusing. There were a few people she knew, and so she gave a little wave to them as she watched everyone gathering and preparing for the parade even as she searched to find the grandest dragon of all, which naturally meant it was from Sussex, and meandered her way over to it. "Looks good!"

The horns called once more, as the parade outside must have lined up and was now waiting for the King and Queen to join. Waiting for the King to take the lead, he watched as Cullan got on his feet and went ahead, calling for one of them to take his cape. Before any of the Groomsmen could grab it, Lady Cordelia beat them to it. A quick glance at him and the rest of the Groomsmen was enough to make him realize they would be on their way now, as Cullan left the room. He quickly grabbed a flask and poured some of the whisky Cullan had just served them into it. He was sure it would come in handy at some point during the day. If not for the King, it would for him. Strapping the flask to his belt, he swiftly made his way into the corridors and caught up with the King.

Juliannabariman
Julianna wasn't wearing her formal dress yet. She would be changing into it after the parade. Later she would be Lord Ruith's dining companion and performing her poetry. But for now, she was spending time with the family she had been estranged from for years. When Oliver Winslow realized his youngest child would be performing for the new King and Queen, he changed his travel plans and sent for his grandchildren, elder daughter, and daughter in-law to join them in the capitol. Julianna's brother and brother in-law had to stay behind to take care of business. It bothered Julianna that John still hadn't contacted her. She must have hurt her brother more than she realized when she ran off all those years ago. Her sister in-law told her it wasn't what she thought, but didn't expound any further.

The evening before was spent introducing Julianna to her nieces and nephews. Ruith said had other business, but she suspected that he didn't want to interfere with the family reunion. It went well enough. From the letters Julianna had received from Susanna, she wasn't surprised to see the signs of stress on her sister's countenance. But she wasn't about to question her about it in front of the rest of the family. Instead, Julianna practiced her performance for her family, since they would not be able to watch her during the dinner.

But for now, Julianna stood in the crowd, with a young nephew on her shoulders, watching the dragons and other performers go by. The pride on her father's face, as he kept glancing over at his family, brought a mixture of guilt and happiness into her throat and heart.

Patan
The gardens at Windsor Castle had looked beautiful in the spring sunshine when she'd arrived yesterday, so Patan had made sure to look around them and make admiring comments to the groundsmen and gardeners. Knowing she was due, they had filled some of the vases around the Castle spring flowers and greenery, which gave a deliciously fresh scent to the place. After dining quietly, and in rather lonely splendour, she had spent a little while preparing herself for the next day, and making sure that her maid, Molly, knew what to lay out. Then she'd gone to bed fairly early, to get a good night's sleep.

The following morning, dawn found her already up, bathed, and brushing her hair so that, when Molly came to help her dress, she only had to get into her gown, pull on her boots and add a headdress. This last was something she didn't often wear, normally preferring her natural hair to be seen, so she added a jewelled band that matched her gown. And the gown in turn matched, or almost matched, the colours of the horses' coverings, so she hoped everything would look suitable.

She'd received the invitation to the wedding and coronation, but didn't have any official duties. Well, at least, none that she would be carrying out. She'd been asked to provide entertainment, which she didn't really feel appropriate on any level, so instead, she was free to attend as both a Devon Navy officer and a Knight Templar...and her gown seemed right for that. Then again, Molly was to accompany her in the carriage to the city, so she made sure that another gown was packed in the carriage for the later festivities.

Finally, they were ready - dressed, packed, and in the carriage - so they sped on their way to find the others, mount their horses and join the parade.

I take my place of the Knights of St George
I smile big to any who look my way
I wait with everyone else for the King and Princess. The horse fidget under me but I keep it steady while we wait.
I watch the happy people move around and chuckle when I hear some silly conversation here or there.

Breena
Bree had never been to London before and she was late. She dressed carefully that morning, it being her first coronation and her wanting to represent Devon and Nether Winchendon House well.

There were so many people milling about that Bree had a difficult time even finding the huge dragons representing the different counties in the parade. Finally she spotted their lovely dragon and saw Hazel climbing into the head to throw the rose petals. Waving at her and Taliesin she approached carefully, trying not to be trampled by the crowd.

Hello! I'm so sorry I'm late! Can I do anything to help?

Edward_tudor
There was a huge throng at the Tower when Edward arrived. It had been an abominable journey - his horse had thrown a shoe, it had rained, and he had somehow lost the lunch that the servants had packed for him.

No great surprise that he was hungry, thirsty, cold, tired, and in a bad mood.

But when he approached London, the sun came out, and the weather warmed.

Just the thing, he thought. The sunshine was a good omen for the wedding and the coronation and hopefully betokened a good marriage and an illustrious reign. He had never met the new king, but did know Lady Aggnes, and knew that she was a hard worker and well deserving of good fortune.

He found the inn without trouble, his room was ready, and there was even a stoop of ale and an odd thing called a "sandwich" - a piece of roast beef between two pieces of bread - to quell his hunger.

He ate swiftly, changed clothes and was awed by the size of the crowd when he got to the Tower. Pushing through the throng, some of whom he knew but mostly he didn't, he finally found his brother-in-law, Lord Kelster, who was obviously looking for him and seemed relieved when they met. He knew why. Jessa had no doubt told Kel to keep an eye on him, and she wasn't to be trifled with on matters like that.

Zywiec
After sending the most experienced squad of Royal Canine Units on to patrol the perimeter of the Cathedral, Lt. Zywiec organizes those who would patrol along the parade route. They know to remain just beyond the treeline, discreetly out of sight, yet within immediate striking distance, should the need arise. Zywiec prays to Jah there would be no need.

Astride Tonka, she watches the throng of participants, entertainers and spectators gather and thicken. It had been a difficult decision whether to attend as Royal Guard or Knight of England. In the end, logic prevailed. With KoE, she is but one entity. Patroling with the Royal Guard provides hundreds more eyes and ears, not to mention the number of jaws full of sharp teeth. Again, Zywiec prays there will be no need.

As Tonka begins to paw the ground and stomp impatiently, Zywiec casts her gaze down and across the street, hoping to catch a glimpse of her dearest and longest-held friend.

Vigfast
A strange Society of people dressed in clothes from large parts of Europe in an unconventional mix pushed their way through the sea of spectators.

Not the Society one might expect from a Danish delegation.
Vigfat thoght when slightly late to get some good seats approached the the parade street.

Or maybe just what was most appropriate, on the other hand, given Denmarks motley crowd of settlers.
Anyway, who wants to miss a wedding and a coronation. It will be interesting, very interesting... coronations of kings was a very unusual phenomenon in the north, and he had missed the last two.

He glanced back to see how many of his crew who really were interested. He noted with satisfaction that only two were missing... so far. Not even kings can stand between a sailor and his needs once they come ashore.
He took his betrothed's hand and went forward into the crowd.

Taarna
She sat looking at the beautiful gift that Aggnes had given to all the bridesmaids. It was unlike any vessel she had ever seen. She ran her fingers over the design in awe. She probably should put this in her trunk, she thought.

Just then, the horns blew, and Taarna started. She quickly put the cup in her trunk, and turned around. All of this pomp was entirely new to her, but as luck would have it, she did have friends here who understood the order of things, and everyone was well-organized, knowing exactly what to do and when to do it. It was time to head on out to the procession.

As Aggnes - nay, Her Royal Highness - made her speech about the upcoming Royal Parade and the presence of her own set of 'troublemakers', Taarna blushed. She did tease sometimes, but in reality, she had the utmost respect for Aggnes, both as a friend and now as Heir and Queen; obviously, there would be no trouble-making, for she intended to carry out her duties as bridesmaid fully.

She checked her appearance again. Dress, hat, everything seemed to be in place. Kazzia had even helped her with cosmetics, applying a bit of color to her cheeks and lips. Someone had drops for the eyes to make them appear larger, but Taarna had declined the use of those.

Now, as Kazzia linked arms with Taarna, together they smiled and gathered with the rest of the bridesmaids as they began to make their way out of the room, down toward the place where the parade would begin.

Quote:
He waved to James, calling out "Mornin' Captain. All set up ta go?"

When the King came out, our large friend drew his borrowed blade, and gravely executed the cavalry version of present arms, moving the blade from before his eyes to flat exposed beside his thigh in a precise arc. Sheathing the blade, James returns Mornin' Sire. Aye, we be as ready as we be gang ta' be. Shall we do this thing? With that, our large friend returns to watching the lines form up, looking to see his own fellows coming into place.

He glanced around at the front with the other musicians.. All this music, and he had but only words. Speaking of words, he needed to make sure he could be heard.

"London!" He said skyward, hands still on the quarterstaff. The word seemed to come back, faintly. The buildings would hold the words and keep them going. Now for the noise problem, he stated looking at the other performers. He knew that the best way the performers would get the most out of their sound was in a single file line. He had heard enough sound and done enough performances to know that. However, the storyteller knew he needed silence on his side as he recited his tale. He knew only one place he could have it.

He moved to the very front of the parade, and waited in case someone said otherwise.
