(ORP) Royal Parade & Coronation of King Cullan Holifard

Jessa.jane wrote:
Saira it is so good to see you, by appearances life is doing well by you. She smiled glad to see a happiness where once there had been little. I hear good things. A wonderful gent, a church and mayor of town, good things indeed!

"Oh aye; church, just finished me second term as mayoress, harbourmaster for longer than I can remember... good to be busy though. Ye fare well?"

Aggnes wrote:
Our job today is to give a performance to the people of England. They paid out for this, they get what they paid for, or we don't get repeat custom. If we can enjoy doing it, that's a bonus, but we need to look as if we're enjoying it - and with the sort of teamwork we've already got here, that should be entirely possible.

"Oh, and one thing - someone here said I'd collected a group of troublemakers. They were quite right - intelligent troublemakers, I hope. What that means is people with brains, initiative, and self-confidence, as well as a sense of humour. Winding me up is fair game, if you think you can win, though I wouldn't bet on that if I were you. Causing the slightest trouble for Cullan, today at least, is not. Understood?"

She turns from Jessa to see Aggnes all gift-wrapped and ready. That said, the normally businesslike and sometimes stern lady did look every inch the queen... she listens to Aggnes' pep talk. "Give 'em something to gawp and wave at, don't upset anyone. Right you are, ma'am. I've left me pen and paper at home. I might start playing I Spy if it gets really tedious though..." She winks to reassure that she is joking... a bit, and falls in behind Aggnes to follow her into the procession.

Bennes
Looking around, Bennes was not surprised by the crowds of people in attendance. Normally, she did not do well in crowds but everyone seemed to be in joyous spirits and the celebratory mood was infectious.

She was looking forward to the parade so instead of hoping beyond hope of finding someone she knew, she made her way to find a suitable place in which to view the parade.

Siren
Siren has never been to as many official functions as she has been invited to lately. How do these people get anything done if they are always running off to the next big shindig? No wonder they need so many peasants to work for them. Siren has had so many fittings for her new gown that she is starting to feel that it may be better to just say she can't make it. With her belly growing bigger by the minute (or so it feels to her) Siren feels as though she will probably explode in the middle of the coronation anyway and how awful would be? Siren thinks about that and decides it would be rather funny actually. The sort of thing that would amuse her in any case. So it is, she is finally dressed up to the nines, has a pretty tiara with blue gemstones (she says gemstones, but glass is good enough) on her head and her golden hair is gleaming as it flows down her back. She doesn't feel it, but she looks astonishingly beautiful.

Riding with her to the coronation is an escort composed of men from both her holdings, Paull and Crook. They are wearing hand-stitched surcoats and carrying pennants bearing the magnificent Coat of Arms that was crafted for her by the College of Heraldry. She has to admit that she thinks her retinue of guards do look rather magnificent and the banners flying in the breeze look perfect.

Siren wasn't too sure about where to join the parade and so was grateful when she was shown to where the privy Councillors were expected to be. She arrived late and very nearly missed the whole thing altogether, and by the whole thing in her mind it was the arrival of the King and Princess.

Eumelia
Hearing the kind words of Madalena Eumelia blushed slightly. She wasn't sure "astonishingly beautiful" was the most appropriate expression for her appearance: her only ceremonial dress was sophisticatedly combined with elements of two different uniforms. She was sure her outlook seemed to be rather strange than beautiful. However, Madalena's kindness warmed up her heart, so she looked back gratefully at the girl.

Hardly had they finished their short conversation when Father Dunpeal appeared from the crowd, greeting them with his habitual enthusiasm. Eumelia smiled warmly at the old man.

- Father Dunpeal, the pleasure is mutual to see a friend and a neighbour from Chard here. Did you have a good journey?

As the old priest came closer, Eumelia could see clearly his excitement.

- Oh yes, it is undoubtedly the event of the year, and I am very excited, too. What a wonderful occasion to see the new King and Queen!
- then looking around in the crowded coutyard, seeing the people waiting there similarly excitedly, she asked the old clergyman - Don't you know, Father Dunpeal when they appear?

If Madalena could read Eumelia's mind she would strongly disagree with her. Madalena had noticed the way Eumelia combined the gown with different items, founding it thoughtful and quite ingenious. The young woman was naturally beautiful and the formal attire, although not conventional, emphasized her best features, gently contrasting with her blonde and silky hair.

Suddenly, Father Dunpeal approached the two women.

"It's so good to see you here, Father. One can feel rather lonely in such crowded and unfamiliar places." Madalena smiled sincerily and answered the cleric's question. "I am not nearly as excited as you Father, although it is the first time I attend to a royal parade." She looked around and waited for a reply.

Sythe
Sythe followed closely behind the King as they made their way to the carriage. Once there he took his place on the opposite side to Captain James and prepared himself for the escort in the parade. He recognized many around him, including several from the Order of St. George nearby who he gave a nod in greeting. He had yet to see his knight Prince Allyn in the crowd but believed he would be present soon enough. He also took a look out for Quinn who would be watching from the crowds, though perhaps they were too far away from each other at this time. He returned his attention to the King and waited for the parade to begin.

With that many big dresses and trains, the ladies needed helpers for the helpers, especially down the stairs. The street outside was already crowded. "Our carriage is supposed to bring up the rear," Aggnes remarked, "though how we get there..... ah." Someone had foreseen this problem, and what was very obviously their carriage was drawn up next to a nearby hedge, complete with the eight dappled horses required to draw it. Aggnes looked up at it. "Yes, I think even when the steps are folded down, we're going to need some help here."

The morning had been hectic and Marie helped Caitilin dress. It was the first time she would appear in the full regalia of a Lady Companion of the Order of the Garter. There would be no riding Argento today but she would arrive by coach.

Jeremy jumped down from the back of the carriage and opened the door. He held out a hand for her. Gathering the robes of her station she accepted his hand, descending from inside. There was a crowd gathering but she spied Prince Louis.

My, my Your Highness, don't you look dashing. She grinned at her dear friend and joined him.

...'Why Dame Caitilin, tis good t' see ye... it looks like it just be ye and me representing the Garter this day.'...... he sighed, but managed a smile for one of his most dear and oldest friends.....' Mt friend ye look the part this day ye self and twill be an honour to walk with ye in the parade.'.....

Dame Caitilin linked her arm in Louis'. Then we will walk the parade route together. Baldar has taken ill and will be with the monks for awhile. I'm certain he is here in spirit though.

Irish and her children had been in London for a while now. They quickly made their way to the Abbey, waiting outside for the King and Princess to arrive before going in themselves.
The girls were dressed appropriately for the occasion as were her sons. She herself was dressed in her new uniform of a royal blue skirt and a red and royal jacket with gold braiding and epaulets showing her rank, as she was the Commander/Admiral of the English Speaking Holy Armies, not that Cullan knew this nor what she could do for England if needed, but Irish was proud of her appointment and happy to wear her uniform to the Coronation. She also displayed her standing within the Holy and Sacred Rose.
Irish had hoped that Mala would accompany them soon.

Robin followed the king and other groomsmen down to the parade, using his tall frame to scan the crowd for a familiar head of blonde hair and the blue and white of the Devon Navy. A true smile crossed his lips when he saw the group up ahead, led by Llyres. Turning to the king he said quietly, "Your Majesty, with your leave, I made a promise to my wife to be with her and the navy for the parade, before I received your invitation. I love my country, and am proud to serve you, but Llyres will always come first. I'll be happy to meet you on the steps and still stand in your wedding."

Aleks had eventually gotten his cuffs on, only with the help of Parson Jones his assistant. He had the older gentlemen walk with him, but wasn't sure if he was technically allowed in the parade. Well, I need him for the wedding and I am the one doing it he said to himself. The Parson was dressed in a simple black cassock, a white surplice and blue tippet befitting his role and order of ministry as deacon.

Aleks waved to the various people he knew as they lined up for the parade: Bennes, Siren, Aggnes, Saira and many, many others. So many people! He fidgeted in his vestments. It was a big day and he was a bit nervous. He played with his rochet sleeves and waited.

Nivera
With Cidal Khan standing as tall as a Mongolian pony could, and Nivera sitting high on his back like the Lady she was, they still weren't as tall as many of the war horses in the parade. If her family were on the wrong side of the street from her, she'd never see them. With a apologetic smile, she moved to the outer edge of the parade group, trading places with a few others, so at least she could see the passing crowds.

There were so many old friends and acquaintances here. It was good to be part of this historic day!
"Hold steady, boy. The parade should start soon. It won't be long until you can show off your style."
Patting Cidal Khan's neck firmly, she admired his elegant stature. Niv ran her little fingers through his golden mane a few times to smooth it, then sat upright to wait the signal to start moving.

Amerys
"Good morn, Your Royal Highness, Ladies," Amerys greeted them. Already mounted, she bowed from the waist and smiled pleasantly. "I'm detailed t' escort your carriage."
She'd been watching for the soon-to-be Queen as the procession had begun forming up and the streets filled with onlookers. But now, as her eyes took in the Ladies' finery and their high-wheeled conveyance she realized there might be a further slight delay... Standing in her stirrups she looked around, finding what she sought near the food tent. Her jaw tightened in annoyance. "A moment Highness..." Abruptly, she wheeled Restless off at a trot and bore down on the cluster of lollygagging, liveried footmen. "Here now - what d'ye mean standin' 'round stuffing yourselves and Her Highness waiting! Get t' your jobs if ye want t' keep them!" Startled stares met her glare and they scurried to their places, positioning the steps and offering obsequious assistance.
Following behind them, a tiny smile, quickly hidden, quirked the corner of Amerys' mouth as she took up position to the side of the carriage.

She looks around all the people feeling a little lost not really used to see so many people in one place at the same time. Looking at the crowd trying to spot her cousin somewhere since he did say that they where meeting there. She was late so he wasnt to blame for not waiting but how far could they have walked.

Then there not that far off she could see her tall cousin walking with his beautiful fiancee. Making her way trough the crowd she do her best not to trip on something and in same time trying to keep track of Vigfast and Lynx.
