(ORP) Royal Parade & Coronation of King Cullan Holifard

Irish and her children had been in London for a while now. They quickly made their way to the Abbey, waiting outside for the King and Princess to arrive before going in themselves.
The girls were dressed appropriately for the occasion as were her sons. She herself was dressed in her new uniform of a royal blue skirt and a red and royal jacket with gold braiding and epaulets showing her rank, as she was the Commander/Admiral of the English Speaking Holy Armies, not that Cullan knew this nor what she could do for England if needed, but Irish was proud of her appointment and happy to wear her uniform to the Coronation. She also displayed her standing within the Holy and Sacred Rose.
Irish had hoped that Mala would accompany them soon.

Mala was, as usual, running late. Timekeeping had never been one of her strong points, even though she tried her best. Pushing her way through the crowds she searched the area for her friend Irish.

She finally spotted her, and her children, and hurried over. 'I'm so sorry Irish' she said, 'I lost track of time'

Time Turner: 9 AM (Sunday 26th):

Parade starts out, leaving the Tower Courtyard, into the streets of London.

Musicians and Entertainers, Representatives of the Army and Navy, Religious Heads, County Leaders, Members of the Garter, Royal Guard and King, County Dragons and Knightly Orders, Princess.

Lavea
Once King and Queen were in position and gave show they were ready, Lavea signalled the hearld, who gave a loud and cheerful bugel ringing out in the morning air, and announced the start of the parade.

Heading out into the city, London was as ever showing her best.

Some were setting up shops selling ales and pastries and all good things to eat for the days crowds.

Some were using it as a good excuse to set up for a day of feasting.

Some had set up to play tunes and earn a some good pennies from a days entertainment.

Or earn their day from animals, shows and murmers.

Some were using it as a great excuse for a dance.

And a man with a cart was going round the crowds handing out free ale "for the King".

The royal procession, not prepared to let them down, blazed back with it's own triumphal greeting to the city.

First the musicians and entertainers.

Then the Army and Navy Captains from all England.

Then the priests and faith leaders.

The county leaders and members of the garter.

The royal guards.

Finally, to great applause from the crowds as they moved through the streets, the King himself.

But still not done, the parades of the counties - with their fiersome dragons, and the brave knightly orders to protect us from such fiersome creatures.

And last, but by no means least, the Queen and her maids.

Pagan
The parade had barely begun and the hangover had already started to claw it's way out of it's shallow grave. Pagan's jovial mood rapidly plummeted as the headache gradually settled between her temples and her tongue stuck on her palate. Light was too bright, all sounds too loud and she had a second heartbeat she imagined was quite annoying to those marching close to her.

She cast longing glances at the ale tents and the man handing out free ales from his cart. She should have damped the soil with a third nip while there was still time! A faint, alluring sloshing sound emanated from her breast pocket, the soothing siren's call of whiskey so near, but alas, she couldn't do it while they were marching. Could she? Should she? Two hours it would last, two hours marching through six circles of hangover hell!

Being one of the newest members of the Sussex Army, I looked a rather sad sight amongst those whose armor shown brightly. I had borrowed Tim's leather jerkin and he'd fashioned a chest strap and scabbard for my sword, which I was rightly proud as it was my own work. The blade was sharp and whilst I could hardly afford fine metals or jewels, the hilt was none the less decorated with intricate artwork. I also had a sturdy shield, purchased from a local weaver. I'd also found a slouch hat in the market which fit my head nicely and Tim had found a jaunty feather in the woods for me to sew upon it for decoration.

Thus attired I found myself near the rear of the cadre of Sussex soldiers ready to take up the march for the King's coronation parade.

She was so busy craning her neck up that she didn't see Alex arrive until she was right in front of them. Alex!! Ye made it! she exclaimed, and gave the woman a solid, "Welcome back to England" hug.

She laughed pleased as she gave Raella a hug in return, holding it for a minute as she missed her dear friends so greatly! She stepped back and looked at the float and Elsy and Sara that are there, as she couldn't see Calisa up in the mouth. "Of course I did, wouldn't miss this for the world."
She heard the trumpets sounding as the hour changed and she gave a nod to them. "Good luck! I'll see you at the end." She went over and gave Elsbet a grand hug as well before slipping away from them and the float to watch the parade.

She giggled happily as she scanned the crowd for Balako and was certain she found him, so she yelled down to Rae, "I found him! He's behind this group over there" She pointed in the direction and then saw Alex and waved to her. "Lady Alex! So happy to see you!"
She was taking care of the womans house after all, and actually she wasn't so happy to see her, not till she was able to make sure everything was fixed up all pretty. She heard the trumpets and gave a small eep before she ducked back into the mouth and laid flat with her hand upon the lever ready to control the greatness that is the beast.

Amethise
It had been a close call as to whether they would be ready in time, thanks to their first dragon falling victim to a freak storm, which had all but destroyed it. Yet they had made it at last, only just in time to shuffle into the parade line-up at the end of the County Dragon section. The tail end, thought Amethise, smiling wryly. The other dragons were a splendid sight to see, and their own looked quite imposing, as he sat aloft, mounted on a wagon that had driven him all the way from Mercia (under wraps, of course, so as not to unduly alarm anyone who might have noticed him passing by). And now the parade was about to start; she had watched a coronation parade several times before now, but this was the first time she had actually been part of it. She felt a little nervous and took a deep breath as the trumpets sounded and they waited to set off along the route.

The work was complete.
All the sketches, baking, ale collecting, knitting was for this moment. It was time to present it all!

Gus and Paulie had just finished removing the nest covering when there it was... the sound of a fanfare.
From Baby's nest, Elsbet watched as Balako proudly raised their newly minted Sussex Dragon Standard and she let out a cheer!

"Are ya ready, Baby? We're heading out! And just wait till they see ya! Hold on.."

Sandoval saw someone join the Sussex armed forces group and turn around see who it was. The figure was familiar, possibly a lady called Elsinore if her memory served her correctly. She smiled at her and waved at her to move forwards, shuffling over to make some space.

Hello! My lady Elsinore, is it? Come and stand between Gia and I, there's enough room. Don't hide behind now, lift your head and be proud to walk beneath the banners of Sussex- after all, you look quite the part in your armour!

The group, which had been moving in an awkward shuffle now picked up speed and was marching properly. All around were masses of brightly dressed people, all smiling and cheering. A musicians up the front were playing a bouncy tune and Sandy felt like she should be dancing along. Alas, she thought, that would be inappropriate while holding the Navy banner- plenty of time for dancing later. She could see Dame Caitilin a few groups back, looking magnificent in the robes of her office and gave a wave, hoping that the gesture had been seen.

So many things to do before arriving in London, she managed to do so albeit a bit late. She hurriedly found Mercia's dragon at the back of the line. Smiling at Amethise as she had managed to get the dragon here with a wagon. She waves to her and takes a side to walk alongside their creation.

Raella
It was time! Raella adjusted her knit dragon hat one more time and ran about the float making sure everything was in order.

Hitched to the front of the main float were four large plow horses. Once Balako stepped out holding up their standard [ooc: drawn by the actual player behind Balako!!], she ran up to the lead beast and gave him a gentle slap on the rump. As the horses started forward, Rae bid everyone grab an edge of a covering tarp. The tarps peeled off and revealed the mighty SUSSEX DRAGON.

It had taken over a week’s worth of sleepless nights to build the Sussex Dragon. Citizens and professionals of every type from all over the county had chipped in to help. The end result was enough to put a tear in Raella’s eye, for it was truly a county effort. She also might have been crying because of how damn tired she was from lack of sleep. Dragon building was hard work!

Fixed to the base of the float, amidst a bevy of taffy and treats that were to be thrown out to the crowd during the procession, was a plaque engraved with all of the contributors.

Balako - Standard Bearer and Banner Artist
Saraxb - Carpenter, Dragon Cart, Base, and Infrastructure

Raella - Blacksmith, Dragon Exoskeleton

Hunky men - Construction, Labor, “Dragon Warriors”

She cast a glance at the other members of the parade crew and watched as they scurried to unveil the other attractions that would accompany the float. There were more surprises yet to come! With a creak and a formidable groan, Sussex’s Dragon eased forward down the parade route.

Raella traipsed alongside the float and on a whim, decided to provide some exuberant sound effects. RAWR!!

Amethise waved and grinned at Tahsa, as she took her place to walk alongside the Mercian dragon. Last-minute preparations and finishing touches were going on all around her, and excitement was in the air. It promised to be a splendid day.

Eumelia
When Madalena greeted the old priest, Eumelia pondered for a couple of minutes. Yes, it was a real luck that they had found each other in the big crowd.

While the young lady answered the question of the Fahter, Eumelia continued scanning the crowded courtyard hoping she would finally be able to find her fellow Templars. This time she didn't have to disappoint in her hope: suddenly Mel's familiar voice reached her ears.

Melpomena wrote:
Eumelia! Over here!

Turning her head in the direction she finally recognized them. They were standing next too each other: Mel, Nap, Admiral Lyred, and Lady Revan, Mel clutching her horse's reins. Eumelia waved back with her free arm and shouted

- Mel.... We are coming....

then quickly grasped the hands of the surprised Madalena and Father Dunpeal and started to pull them towards the Templars.

- Follow me, they are there...

They managed to approach the small group without bigger problems when suddenly the trumpets blew up, announcing the start of the parade. The crowd rumbled excitedly, many people made a last - and rather desperate - attempt to find their own places in the possession, causing a smaller (?) confusion in the courtyard. Eumelia grabbed her two friends' arms and kept pulling them after herself firmly, when finally they managed to reach the Templars' group.

- Mel.... - she panted relieved - .... thank Jah we are here. I thought I would miss you...there are so many people here.

Then she turned to the the others and greeted them politely.
