(ORP) Royal Parade & Coronation of King Cullan Holifard

Airya
As Airya was making her way back to her musicians, she
decided to have just a tiny sip from her nefarious pink flask.

When she saw her group, they were being led by a surprising new harpist!

Airya sighs, and thinks to herself, "Well even though I'm probably the
only one who can see him, he is playing a pretty tune."

Mysti
Mysti grinned broadly and looked at the DRAGON. Yes, it was an impressive beast
and it would be a good parade with it as Sussex's sort-of-representative. She thought it
might have been -- just by chance! -- easier as Baroness, not as Archbishop. But alas it was
too late to change dresses and robes by now as the trumpets signalled the beginning of the
parade. Well, she'd never been the ordinary Bishop, so nobody who knew her would
wonder to see a member of clergy tossing treats! "Hoorraaaaawwwr!" she echoed
after Raella and took some treat, just to check if it was ready for distribution.

The parade set in and more and more people were joining it, coming from the streets to get
a better look at the DRAGON, obviously. Mysti waved at a small girl and she was the
first to receive some candy. "Here ye go, lass! Jah's blessings and all the best, aye?!"
she commented and saw the girl smiling and curtseying. A good reward for a treat-dude.

It appeared Taliesin and Hazel had things well in hand. Bree beamed as the Devon dragon was unveiled. It had become a variation of different ideas they all had and had even captured a small donkey in it's clutches!

As the parade set off Bree waved at Hazel and Taliesin and joined the crowds to watch the parade passing by.

Edited to correct location mistake.

There was one great thing about being the last item in the procession - they were getting a wonderful view of the Dragons! Or at least, of the rear-most dragon, the Mercian one. Great green wings flopped from side to side, and about all she could see of it was those and the tail. Then the head came up, as the handler loosened the leash for a moment - how on earth had they done that? Spikes, scales, and overwhelming green-ness. Lots and lots of fabric, from the look of it.

The Mercian head went down again, and she saw something beyond it - something huge. That couldn't be the Sussex entry, surely? She'd been warned, but what had they based it on, a live elephant? Something even bigger? Black, red horns, comparatively small wings that would never even pretend to lift it, but while the Mercian one looked about as threatening as one of Fred's bears, this was something she certainly wouldn't want to face in battle.

She strained to see even further ahead, but no. A sight of the other two dragons would have to wait for a bend in the route.

Noromical
Noro let out a chuckle as the parade got moving. His lute fully tuned and ready to go, Noro began plucking at the strings of the old instrument, his fingers moving in a blur across the strings, the music mixing in and providing a harmony with the rest of the musicians. Any who paid attention to him would notice he was playing by ear to match the rest of the music. This musician had prepared no music, choosing to fit the mood instead. The music from his lute was subtle midst the rest of the cacophony of sounds, but it's tune was otherworldly to say the least

Llyres
Excitement filled the air as the musicians gathered and began to play. The appearance of the dragons added a new dimension entirely to the spectacle.

Turning as Devon Councilor Eumelia appeared, seeming to pull Chard Mayor Dunpeal and another lady in her wake, Llyres beamed at the newcomers. "Welcome, I see Count Zanlarrr and Princess Patan's arrived as well. Robin ought to be here any moment. "

Looking around at the dragons, she smiled with a slight relief. We may not be able oversize those great constructions but we will not be lost here either. she added, nodding to the richly embroidered blankets covering each of the horses procured for the Devon Navy, the Templars, may whom served in the navy or regiment, and County Council mounts.

Jessa.jane
Before she had chance to respond to Saira, Aggnes was giving them instruction and her expectations and they were being ushered to and onto the carriage. She thought it better she catch up with Saira at maybe the dinner or a bit later and responded to her with a quick "I am wonderful, we can catch up later"? Though slightly cramped, their carriage was comfortable and everyone had a wonderful view. Most importantly the the lady of honor was comfortable and and appeared to be enjoying herself and not a sign of nervousness about her.

Jessa, herself, was in awe not just in the pageantry around and the wonderfully creative dragons, but the amount of people each doing their own part. From those in service to the kingdom, to the merchants providing food and drink and trinkets each and everyone seemed to know their exact duties. And the people...she had never seen so many people in one place in her entire life! Young old, peasant and noble, all filled with an excitement and joviality. When asked to be a bride's maid she knew what an honor to be selected by the queen was. And having just wed months prior she had her idea as to what would be expected. Yet this was so much more than she had even dreamed. It was that of fairy tales and legend and something she was sure to remember and pass on to her children some day, yes believe it or not she was a bride's maid to the queen.

Her eyes were everywhere taking everything in and to everyone in the carriage and yet no one in particular she spoke. Have you ever seen so many people at one place before in your life? She had hoped she would be able to catch site of her husband and family along the route but now wondered just how with so many people in attendance.

Patan
Having reached the Tower, Patan went around to where the Devon Navy and Knights Templars contingent were gathering, their horses lined up ready.

Her face lit up to see several of them there, and she moved to join them, smiling cheerfully at each - Llyres and Zanlarr, Dunpeal and Eumelia, amongst them. "Hello everyone. I see most of us have arrived safely. I think the parade is starting, so should we mount up now and get into line?"

Cullan
Cullan searched around him in minor panic. Who got it? His cape! There it was...he pulled it out of Cordi's hands and flipped it around his shoulders. "Aye lad..."he waved his hand to Robin. "Go ahead. Devons more important than my parade." He waved his arm toward the guards around him. "I've got th' best 'a th' best ta protect me. Enjoy yerself, Robin."

He mounted his chariot, surprised by it's construction. It was light bent wood with cloth of gold between to make the basket. From his raised position, he could see everything. As the boys got the horses to the ready, he reached into his pocket to pull out Jasmine's pin. Cullan smiled as he remembered her words. He didn't know if she was right, but they were a comfort. Taking a deep breath he adjusted his cape, red wool with a cloth of gold lining, then pinned it at the shoulder.

Stomach churning, they began. Ahead he could see the varied armies, proud to see the armies of England massed together. His chest swelled with pride seeing the various banners waving in the wind. Noticing the massed religious members, he remembered. He leaned against the wall of the chariot and pulled up his cane, checking the tip to make sure the silver was still there. It was.

He turned around, smiling. Behind him was a rain of rose petals - so much so, he could barely see the great hulking dragon behind it. Fantastic! It was so well done - and the wings! What was that, silk? With the rain of petals, he could barely see past it - If he remembered, Lavea said the Westmorland one was next. The King scanned the crowd, filled with pride. He couldn't wait to see the rest of the parade.

Pagan
It was getting more and more unbearable by the minute. Pagan was sweaty, trembling and what the... NOW she was seeing dragons too! Did anyone else see the beasts? Probably not, she mused gloomily.

That's it! She had fought the good fight as long as she could, but enough was enough! Even common sense dictates that when the dragons appear, it is high time for medication - to hell with possible disciplinary board actions! There was really no way to do it secretly in this crowd, but Pagan was past giving a toss - she was dying here, for crissakes!

With trembling hands she produced the flask from her breast pocket, uncorked it and wrapped her dry lips around the mouth. Two mouthfuls of fiery, life-preserving nectar took care of the remains of the medicine, but she didn't have to wait long for the hangover to start back-pedaling like a recently re-elected Count. She was indeed feeling mighty fine again. The dragons didn't disappear, but all worries about their presence did - she could take on a couple of overgrown newts to work on an appetite if it came to that! All in a day's work, baby! Bring 'em on!

Melpomena
Mel watched as Eumelia, Dunpeal and Maria moved in the crowd, fighting their way to reach were the little group was standing.

Eumelia wrote:
Mel.... - she panted relieved – .... thank Jah we are here. I thought I would miss you...there are so many people here.

The look of relief was visible on Eumelia’s features. The courtyard was getting very crowded, people passing by without stopping.
”I’m so happy to see you three made it here alive. It’s terribly crowded, but I’m guessing that’s the thing with such events. Let’s hope we all stay in one piece” Mel replied with a smile.

Llyres wrote:
"Welcome, I see Count Zanlarrr and Princess Patan's arrived as well. Robin ought to be here any moment. "

”Excellent news indeed”, Mel said hearing Llyres mentioning seeing Count Zanlarrr and Princess Patan. ”I just hope Robin will be able to find us in this chaos” Mel chuckled, a look of amusement in her eyes.

Llyres wrote:

”The dragons are quite nice and extravagant, but I’m pretty sure we won’t go unnoticed”, Mel replied.

She then turned to Eumelia, thinking of a task for the future Knight Templar. It would be tricky and definitely all eyes will be on her, but Mel was quite sure Eumelia was up to the task. After all, Eumelia did a great job as Devon Council Spokesperson so this should be an easy task for the girl.

”Eumelia”, Mel said gesturing to Eumelia to come closer. ”I have a special task for you today, if you’re up for it”, Mel said quietly.”We’re in a rather peculiar situation today. As the Grand Master is way, I as Preceptor, would normally be the one leading our Knights in the Parade. However, I already promised Admiral Llyres that I’d ride with the Navy representing our war ship”, Mel paused for a bit, then continued. ”I know you’re still new to the Order, but I would love if you could lead the Knights Templar today. We’ll consider it your Knight task. What do you say?” Mel finished, an expectant look in her eyes.

Alfred took a quick swig of water and drank it down quickly. He was used to small crowds, and figuring out the best places to work on ahead of time. Unfortunately for him, there would be no such luxuries today. He would have to rely on the strength of his voice. On top of that, he needed to remain near the center, so the crowd could hear him. He hoped that he wasn't going to perform over the other performers present. He glanced around, leaving himself a wide berth. He was going to need space for his performance and he knew it.

He extended his quarterstaff in a circle, making sure no one was within. Of course, no one would be, being so far ahead. Satisfied that he was ready, he slammed the thin piece of wood to the ground. It made a loud tap, but not much else, sadly. He took two steps and slammed it down once more. He kept it up, developing a rhythm. He felt the pulse of the story, and like so many times before, let the story, and his passion flow.

”Greetings England!” Alfred shouted loudly. ”Today we will honor a hero who's deeds cross time and boundaries itself! He is man who wields righteous power. He wields the blade of the high one! His past will be mentioned to the core of this grand parade and beyond this day! Won't you join me in hearing of this great man? His exploits? To find out why we celebrate him this day? Listen to my words and hear them close!” He paused, letting the crowd react for a moment.

”By the grace of his majesty, King Cullen, I present to you, people of England, the Tale of Saint George!”

He threw up his hands, calling for applause from the crowd. It seemed like they had roared in response. He was definitely getting them pumped for everyone else coming, it was half the point. His story would be long, and no doubt, people would miss it, but if he could get people excited for the other acts, then he had completed what he set out to do. You learned many things as a storyteller and crowd control was definitely one of them. He put his hands on his staff, resuming the rhythm of his slow walk.

“Once in a land long ago named Silene, came a holy warrior. His name was George, a valiant soldier who performed great and noble deeds.” Alfred said, shouting out the words. His hand flew out and into the air.

“Also in Silene, there was once a pond.. From which resided a large dragon that terrorized the countryside.” Alfred cupped his hands, resting his quarterstaff on his leg as he let out a loud growl that rang through the streets. “The people feared the dragon and began to feed it sheep. Yet still it grew hungry and was no longer sated by the wooly creatures. It wanted more, and soon, the creature demanded children be sent to it to sate its hunger. This was done by drawing lots.”

“The day arrived when the lots were drawn... The victim of the day was to be the King's daughter, the Princess of Silene...” Alfred shouted, making sure his words were heard.

To be continued....

Eumelia
When she heard Mel's words Eumelia hardly believed she understood them well. Leading the Knights Templar and carrying their flag in the parade was a huge honor, an award that a young knight would have never ever dreamed of. She blushed slightly, then answered to her .

- Having such a Knight task is a much bigger honour than I deserve, Lady Mel. However, I would be more than proud to lead the Knights Templar and march as their standard-bearer. Thank you very much for your trust.

Finishing her words she bowed towards her Perceptor.

They were moving!! She gave a squeal of delight as Rae gave the dragon roar, and after she did that the musicians that trailed with the dragon started up the Fanfare! She listened for a little big till the timing was right and more people were gathered and the parade was officially begun. Timing was crucial after all...

She figured the dragon had at least 3-4 good spurts in it, and so at that right moment she pulled the Lever and watched as golden ale spewed forth from the dragons mouth, not too far from where she laid and the other lever helped to turn the head only slightly so it got to the sides as well. She held it for a few moments as the sunlight caught the liquid making it almost look like a liquid fire had come spraying forth! Hopefully everyone had their cups out and ready!
