(ORP) Royal Parade & Coronation of King Cullan Holifard

Jasmine.
Jasmine could not hear much of what was going around her as the chatter and noises were growing higher as the crowd grew. She looked beside her and grinned as she saw Dame Deema the Commander of the Sussex Army and behind them the joint forces of the Navy and Army. The way they were and should always be, shoulder to shoulder.

She smiled proudly of both forces and the soldiers and sailors who were gathered representing their County forces.

She looked over the other side where Knightly Orders where gathered. She was happy to see Sir Allyn and Sir Tucker leading the squires and Apprentices of their worthy Order among the other Knights.

She scanned the area as her habit dictated as always. While the crowd was grand and the Dragons made it even more crowded with the many Armies, Knights and Royal Guards. She was proud of England coming together in a festive occasion. Her mind drifted to another time and another crowd for a moment before she brought her attention back to focus.

Eponine_llewellynn
The streets of London were severely congested and her carriage bearing the coat of arms of Crowcombe and the Llewellynn family struggled to make its way towards Westminster. Eponine hardly noticed, as she was far away in her thoughts. The seat next to her was empty and her hand rested on its cushion. "Milady, I am ever so sorry that you will be slightly late.", the driver said, as they came to a stop once more. "Do not worry. I probably should have left earlier from Crowcombe.", she replied. She would miss the start of the parade, but she would be on time for the wedding and coronation ceremonies. As they finally arrived, Eponine disembarked the carriage and smoothed the fabric of her pale green dress. She made her way through the crowd, until she found a spot where she would see the parade, while looking out for family members who she could join later on in the Abbey.

"Not so many happy people, no," Aggnes responded. "This many people, yes, when we had ten CA armies occupying Liverpool, but they weren't all that happy. There may have been this many at the last coronation, I'm not sure, but I don't think so. No dragons to attract them then."

Kazzia_llewellynn wrote:
There are people everywhere! I've never been in the midst of it. I've stood to the side cheering and clapping my sister and brother, but I have never stood on this part of it.

She smiled at both of the women understanding both their experiences though she hadn't had such of her own. For a moment she thought of each one them in the carriage and Saira riding up front. Each individuals with different experiences and yet each together celebrating a monumental event . And in the mist of them a Queen no less, who too was once like them simple girls, ladies. She wondered if Aggnes had ever thought she would be a queen and as she looked at the others wondered if maybe one day one of them would be a queen as well.

She looked out to see what the queen had reacted to and saw the liquid gold, as she called it.
Aggnes wrote:
"I hope that's beer...."

A laugh came from her she couldn't hold back as the thought of anything but ale was something that hadn't come to her mind. Quickly she changed the laugh to a smile and thought about the waving. She wasn't worried as much about the waving as she could switch from one hand to the other as her hands and arms were use to long hours working with her butcher's knife, but just in case she would make sure when she saw the others start waving she would take small breaks.

With a bow and a smile, Robin thanked the King and made his way through the crowd, keeping the small knot of blue and white in sight as he made his way through.

Coming up from behind the group, Robin grinned and snuck up, resting his hands on his wife's hips and leaning around to kiss her cheek briefly before releasing her. "I'm not too late, am I love?"

With a nod of thanks to one of the other sailors, the Steward accepted the reins to a horse. "Revan, it's good to see you again! Hello, Eumelia, Melpomena, Patan." Looking at Llyres again, he grinned, saluting her. "At your command, Admiral!" When the order was given, he mounted and followed with the rest of the Devon Navy in the parade.

She sat, trying to peer out the window to catch a glimpse ofthe dragon floats, but with so many skirts filling the interior of the carriage it was sometimes difficult to see one's own hand, not to mention the wall of the carriage or anything beyond it. It was nice to be fully dressed up again for such an event as many an evening it was all she could do to look presentable after a harrowing day at her office, so she more than welcomed the opportunity to let it all go and enjoy herself. An indication was given from Kazzia and Joli nodded nervously, but boldly stood and wrapped her small fingers around a sturdy support within before leaning out of the carriage. She smiled broadly, showing her beauty to the people and waved like a flower in a summer breeze, the air flowing through her golden hair streaming it behind her. Losing track in the excitment she giggled and hoped her hair wasn't in anyone's face but then saw Taarna leaning out the other direction so was happy she didn't have to shift position. Some people in the crowd seemed familiar and she tried to wink, but it was difficult to make direct contact with all that was going on.

As the parade started, Cordelia accepts the groom's help to settle into her sidesaddle. Her mount was a dainty black mare she had recently purchased from Italy, draped in a caparison bearing the arms of the Royal House of McDermott.

She falls in behind the King as the parade starts, keeping a sharp eye on him, and seriously questioning the wisdom of whomever had decided it was a good idea to have a man who could hardly stand for any length of time, ride in a chariot that required him to stand for the length of the parade, before he has to climb stairs, stand and get married, proceed down the aisle of Westminster, then stand and sit at various times during the coronation, then expect him to be able to function at the feast after.

As Revan moved closer, she nodded to Mel and Nap before greeting Admiral Llyres.

“Good morning Revan! It's so good to see you. Are you feeling excited about the Parade?“ Mel inquired politely smiling at Revan.

She smiled and nodded. "Aye, I'm amazed at the workload done on the dragon floats! I've forgotten what a sight a crowd of people can be as well ... it's very easy for friends and acquaintances to disappear." Along with one's husband, she thought to herself, looking around for a certain tall count.

Robinoflocksley wrote:
"Revan, it's good to see you again!"

Revan found herself in another grin. How easy the expressions of happiness seemed to come out amongst friends ... a pleasant surprise from what she had expected to occur today. "Thank you Robin, it's good to see you as well!"

Rev noted some new arrivals including the Lady Patan and Lady Eumelia, and took a step to greet them further but was stopped by the bugel sounding out. Offering a wave instead to them, she mounted her steed and awaited the order of the Devon Admiral for movement.

Llyres
Beaming that Robin had managed to sneak away from the King, no easy task on a day like this, Llyres embraced him warmly, and also turned to welcome Revan Anne, when she heard the notes to rally and focused on her small marshaling task as Admiral of the Devon Navy.

Listening to Princess Patan who had arranged the line up of the steeds,
the Admiral signaled for the Navy members to mount their horses. The Devon Navy members rode the horses draped in blue and white the colors of the Devon Navy.
The members who also were of the Templar order had horses whose blankets also carried that signal.
A special blanket had been commissioned for the Count and council members who might ride with the Navy, too.

With the signal to mount up, Patan moved to one of the mounting blocks to climb up on to her steed. She didn't always use the block, but with her expanding waistline she didn't want to make a spectacle of herself by trying to get up on to the saddle and then failing. So she took all the offers of help she could get which, in this case, meant the assistance of a groom and the mounting block. Actually, she was only just beginning to show a little bump, and even that wasn't very evident in most of her clothes, so she quickly got up into the saddle. Spreading her skirts carefully, she worried that they covered most of the Devon Navy's insignia and all of the Knights Templar one, but when she looked on the other side of the horse, they were well displayed...and she would be amongst others with the same signals, so she was content.

Once in the saddle and settled, she glanced around for the others, noticing that Revan and Robin had arrived too. She gave them a smile and wave as she waited for the others to fall into line so that she might take her place.

"You know, some people would say you are riding with a dragon. Take a look at the arms Cullan did for this wedding, and think about the symbolism he used."

Taarna coughed and turned red as she gasped for air. "My Lady!" she said, in mock shock. "Have you not heard that there are tales of kind dragons, as well as wicked ones? Perhaps what some perceive as bad at this moment may be what saves us all in the end...if I may be so bold to say so. My Lady."

"Well, of course. The dragon is the symbol of Wales, the defender of Wales, and I'm Princess of Wales. Cullan wasn't around when I was burning iron for county prestige, so I expect that's the heraldic reference he's picking up on. Kind or wicked isn't really the point, it's whose side the dragon is on that matters, and there he is heraldically conquering the dragon and making quite sure it's on England's side."
She didn't mention the use of a lance for the purpose. Some of these ladies would get and enjoy the joke, others.... were ladies.

She frowned slightly. "I hope Cullan isn't trying to stand up for too much of the journey. That chariot looks very warlike, but it's got a seat, and he's supposed to be using it. Still, nothing we can do about it from here."

Daisydread
The logistics of dresses didn’t allow Daisy much room to argue with their traveling plans and so she ruefully fell in line with the others to be herded onto the carriage. Given the option she would have happily wolfed down their collective of lead-based cosmetics just for the chance to walk unencumbered outside of their cramped prison-on-wheels. Enviously, she looked on as the functionally attired Maid of Honor vaulted herself onto the coachman’s seat. Daisy fanned herself with her hand and whined to no one in particular as she plucked impetuously at her dress, “How'd she get outta wearing one of these vexing contraptions?”

The parade activity and bridesmaids chatter melded into background noise as she quietly stewed in another fit of malevolence. The only event to illicit a positive remark was the appearance of her own county’s dragon. “An ale-breathing dragon! Brilliant!” She expelled a rather unladylike half-sigh, half-moan of pleasure, “MmmMm... if only we were in the crowd to receive it with our mugs, aye ladies?” Inspired, she snuck a furtive nip from her flask and silently praised her seamster for equipping her dress with several hidden pockets.

But with this group, they were going to need more than ale. Daisy had unofficially anointed herself as the Procurer of Refreshment and took the job more seriously than her real one — which was half the time sleeping and half the time drinking in taverns. Luckily, Kazzia’s maid was trailing behind their carriage in case of emergencies only. Daisy leaned out and gesticulated wildly, “Katiya! Emergency! Where’s our jahdamn refreshment?!” The maid scurried over, balancing a pitcher of ale and cups under her chin. Daisy watched her approach with an increasing scowl. She decided to hiss her displeasure, trying to be discreet in her verbal abuse. “No,no,no… it’s supposed to be the wedding tea I instructed ye to prepare, not ale ye vacant, empty-headed giglet!” Threatening a flogging, Daisy sent her off once again to acquire the necessary components, unaware of Katiya’s sly little smirk as she disappeared into the crowd.

Isabelle Faith Llewellynn bounced on her uncles shoulders. She was seeing the parade from really high, and she holded onto his hair so that he didn't drop her. She waved as Mama and her friends drived off. She seen Mama look back and blow kisses at them, and a pretty lady with blonde hair got near Mama to wave too. As Uncle Bub turned her she could see the dragon had spitted ale on a nice guy she met at her Aunt Aer's tavern once. She hoped he liked ale, Mama said it was good. Uncle BUB! It spitted ALE! Look! And they are throwing candies! LOOK!
Lady_nynane
She stops when she sees her cousin Vigfast facing the big dragon all alone. Scared it will eat him alive she lets out a gasp. But with to many people between them she cant do more then watch. She sees the dragon spray some yellow liquid over him and then notice Vigfast smiling she starts to laugh. Poking the person closest to her in the side, saying.
Thats my dear cousin Vigfast Valdemarsson.

She continues to chuckle but realizing the stranger probably things shes a lunitic she begs a courtesy and continues. Im very sorry I disrupted you.

Before she starts to move she hears a wonderful voice. At firts not able to hear what he sing just enjoying his voice she feels her cheeks reddening when shes close enough to understand the words.

play the dragon song he'd picked.

A dragon has come to our village today.
We've asked him to leave, but he won't go away.
Now he's talked to our king and they worked out a deal.
No homes will he burn and no crops will he steal.

Now there is but one catch, we dislike it a bunch.
Twice a year he invites him a virgin to lunch.
Well, we've no other choice, so the deal we'll respect.
But we can't help but wonder and pause to reflect.

    (Chorus)
Do virgins taste better than those who are not?
Are they salty, or sweeter, more juicy or what?
Do you savor them slowly? Gulp them down on the spot?
Do virgins taste better than those who are not?

Now we'd like to be shed you, and many have tried.
But no one can get through your thick scaly hide.
We hope that some day, some brave knight will come by.
'Cause we can't wait around 'til you're too fat to fly.

Now you have such good taste in your women for sure,
They always are pretty, they always are pure.
But your notion of dining, it makes us all flinch,
For your favorite entree is barbecued wench.

Now we've found a solution, it works out so neat,
If you insist on nothing but virgins to eat.
No more will our number ever grow small,
We'll simply make sure there's no virgins at all!

With a slight blush and a giggle, Tali continued to sing, his fingers easily drawing the music from his lute. Now he told the story from the side of the dragon, his sweet tenor carrying easily over the crowd, being further from the other musicians in the parade.

Now, I am a dragon. Please listen to me.
For I'm misunderstood to a dreadful degree.
This ecology needs my and I know my place.
But I'm fighting extinction with all of my race.

Well, I came to this village to better my health
Which is ever so poor, despite all my wealth.
But I get no assistance and no sympathy,
Just impertinent questioning shouted at me.

    (Chorus)
Yes, virgins taste better than those who are not.
But my favorite snack mixed with peril is fraught.
For my teeth will decay and my trim go to pot.
Yes, virgins taste better than those who are not.

Well, I'm really quite kind almost all through the year.
Vegetarian ways are now mine out of fear.
But a birthday needs sweets as I'm sure you'll agree.
And barbecued wench tastes like candy to me

As it happens our interests are almost the same.
You see I'm really quite skillful at managing game.
If I ate just your men, would your excess decline?
Of course not, the rest would just make better time.

Now, the number of babies a woman can bare
Has limits. That's why my pruning's done there.
And an orphan's a sad sight and so when I much.
I'm careful to eat only virgins for lunch

Mel watched as Eumelia went to take her place as the head of Templar delegation. Returning to her companions, Mel nodded to Princess Patan and Lord Robin that arrived a few moments ago. She turned to Lady Revan as she spoke.

"It's true, the dragon floats look very elaborate and colorful. A definite sign of many hours spent into their creation. I've always admired the artists that make such wonderful things." Mel paused for a moment and then added. "Oh, and I agree with you regarding the crowds. I've never really liked them as it's always difficult to spot your friends and neighbours. Hopefully, everyone will manage to find their groups and form the lines."

With that, another trumpet sounded and her companions mounted their steeds so she followed as well. Making herself comfortable, she tucked her cloak tightly around so that the colors of Devon Navy and the Templar symbol were clearly visible. It made her very happy and proud to be able to participate both as a sailor and a knight.

Staying alert and moving Morana to form a line, she awaited the Admiral's command.
