(ORP) Royal Parade & Coronation of King Cullan Holifard

Lavea
With the day well under way, the sun rising higher in the sky and everyone here Lav allowed herself to relax and enjoy the show. The counties had truely outdone themselves, and she had to resist the urge to try and run in front of the Sussex Dragon for an ale shower, and the sound of the beating of the Mercian dragons wings made her giggle with delight like a little girl. And the size of the Devon dragon. She knew she could happily spend all day admiring them and scrambling round them and seeing how they worked.

But there was so much else to see, Patan looked stunning on her horse, and hear. Songs drifted on the breeze and the tale of dragons and the Princess of Silene was only just begun, carried in snippets over the crowd. England had certainly done herself proud today.

Getting caught up in the merriment, Tahsa just noticed the Dragon in front spraying ale. Chuckling, she thought that was a very good idea. She ran to Amethise's side of the dragon and smiled. Tis a good thing I hid shortbread under all that fabric.. she said as she lifted the side up a little to show the baskets underneath. We can hand these out if you want?

She grabbed a basket and went back to her side of the dragon. She thought the lavender to be a perfect thing for such an event. The colors perfect to show serenity, grace and calmness. Of course they did smell lovely too. She was glad she was able to sneak in a gift of lavender shortbread and a bouquet of lavender and rosemary for the Royal couple before she got here.

It was starting to get a bit hot to her, perhaps the red dress was not a good idea for walking such a distance. Would she be able to make it to the ceremony on time? She was suppose to meet Alun there after the parade.

Amethise smiled when Tahsa appeared beside her. "Oh, excellent!" she grinned, as the baskets of shortbread were revealed. "So pretty, too! Thank you, I will hand these out -- and I may even keep one for myself!" She winked mischievously and chuckled, waving as Tahsa returned to her side of the wagon. Amethise had had a niggling feeling that she had forgotten something, in the last-minute rush of their arrival and finding their place in the parade, then all the excitement of getting under way. While planning the dragon, they had talked about handing out some sort of small treats along the route, and thankfully, Tahsa had clearly come well prepared!

She reached in behind the fluttering Mercian banners, took one of the baskets that was safely stowed away inside, hooked it over one arm and began to toss shortbread into eager, outstretched hands as she walked along -- while somehow still deftly managing to keep her skirt hem out of the dust. Weavers were dextrous…

The sweet, soothing fragrance of lavender drifted up from the basket, bringing with it a refreshing sense of calmness, even here, amongst all the chattering crowds, snatches of various music, the clatter of hooves and rumble of wheels over the cobbles. Looking down, she noticed a small, whole sprig of lavender at the bottom of the basket; she smiled and tucked it into her belt, as a reminder that it was possible to remain still and centred, even in the midst of all the merriment.

Aggnes wrote:
"Well, of course. The dragon is the symbol of Wales, the defender of Wales, and I'm Princess of Wales. Cullan wasn't around when I was burning iron for county prestige, so I expect that's the heraldic reference he's picking up on. Kind or wicked isn't really the point, it's whose side the dragon is on that matters, and there he is heraldically conquering the dragon and making quite sure it's on England's side."
She didn't mention the use of a lance for the purpose. Some of these ladies would get and enjoy the joke, others.... were ladies.

"Ah...that's true," remarked Taarna. "With all this excitement, I hadn't thought of that. I guess I'm still too new to living in Wales...and I should know that, really, being in the College of Heraldry!" Taarna smacked her own hand. She also knew exactly what Aggnes was referring to when she mentioned the use of the lance, but she didn't want to say anything improper. She was a Lady, after all, and attending a future Queen; as much as she would like to joke about such things, all impropriety must be set aside at this time.

"And so the Dragon of Wales shall conquer the Princess, and make her His Queen..."
she murmured, more to herself than to the Princess. Yes...it made much more sense now. She smiled, then resumed waving to the thronging crowd, which seemed to enjoy waving back very much.

Alfred was getting the crowd chanting. He needed to move into the next part of his tale, but he figured some national pride wasn't going to hurt. “England! England! England!” The chant began to catch and spread from his shouting. His tale wasn't over and he knew he needed it continued. In the meanwhile, he glanced forward as he walked. England was a cry that everyone could get behind, not just him.

He stopped trying to draw the crowd into a frenzy and began to get back to work. The parade wasn't slowing down and he needed to finish the story! He felt the pulse once more, his quarterstaff tapping against the ground. He focused and returned to Silene, turning his head upward a little more to catch the open air.

“A call went up to all in Silene! All of the King's gold and silver and half his kingdom for someone who would challenge the dragon. Not one in the kingdom of Silene would take the king up on his offer, so great was their fear of the dragon. So, the princess dressed as a bride, as was custom, and made her way to the pond.”

“It was at this time that chance brought Saint George to this place. He spied the princess and asked her,” His voice changed, mighty and noble, to take on the role of Saint George. 'What you do doing here, dear lady? Where do you travel to?'

Altering his voice once more, he lowered the tone, meek and regal, 'Oh dear knight, please be away, there's an evil here that comes today and everyday.'

“The brave knight shook his head and smiled. 'Today, and everyday I ride. Brave I be, for the Lord is at my side.'

'This is an evil that our Gods cannot face, an evil that won't be put into place. Go again, I say to you, save yourself! Take your memory of this place and put it on a shelf.'

“As the two spoke near the pond, their conversation drew the dragon out of the pond. It pounded the ground as it made it's way forward, spying the two as they spoke. It let out a great, monstrous roar, the like none have heard in Silene, or anywhere in England, nay, the world!” Alfred let out a loud, evil roar, making sure to alter the roar just a little to get people's attention.

“Brave Saint George turned and made the sign of the cross, and turned in his saddle... Spurring his steed ever onward to engage the foul creature!”

To be concluded....

Aleks stood with the other clergy in parade and greeted all of them before turning to Parson Jones, his assistant. The two of them discussed the up-coming wedding and what Jones would be doing as Aleks led the ceremony. Their conversation (entirety in Welsh )was interrupted by the occasional cracking of a joke, followed by the loud laughter of the two men, which only added to noise of the parade and the crowds.

After a long journey and a lot of time without seeing her little daughter and Micjo, she was at least at England. The didn't have too much time to catch up, but they finally where at England. Swini was grateful that Mic had done the arrangements to find some room for all. Once all were ready they started to walk.

The streets of London were crowded, people for all around England were there, on the parade, ready to see the new King of England.

She walked close to Mic in order to don't get lost, she caught tighlty her dauther's hand – Try to not separate from us girls – she said.

They stopped on spot from which all of them could see the parade pass by. Mic, gently, picked Sibi and put her on his shoulders – Thanks Mic – she said Swini – Lucky girl! - said while smiling to Sibi You are going to see all the parade. Try not to move too much my little lamb, or you are going to make him stagger – she caught tightly Almodis hand and put her the girl in front of her – You will see perfectly well from here – caressed Almodis hair and send a kiss to Sibi.

Then she whispered to Mic – Try not to overexite her too much, or you both will fall like a house of cards – she chuckled.

Sibi was seeing all from Uncle's Mic shoulders. She caught his hands in order to don't fall – Yes mamiiiiiiiiii, don't worry – she said excited.

She was watching all, people was chanting England, England, England, and Sibi was jumping at their tune.

Charriots, adorned horses, the streets were full of colours. - Look Uncle Mic that horsee – she said in a loudly voice – Mamii, Almodis look at that woman with that horse – she was looking everywhere and everywhere she found something amazing – A Dragooon – she started to jump sitted on Uncle's Mic sholuders – I see a big dragoon – Sibi started to move her hand in order to say hello to the dragon.

Jannie was late. Again.

It seemed to be a regular thing. She would receive her invite in good time. She would ponder and procrastinate over the journey, the time, the weather, in fact just about everything, until, eventually the day she needed to make decisions would come and go and she would still be sat in the day room, or the garden, or anywhere other then a carriage, dressed in her finery, on her way to wherever she was suppose to be.

The problem was she had become such a recluse that she had forgotten how to behave in company and her friends from yesteryear where either dead, as good as, or had given up on her.

She glanced out of the window and sighed, she wasn't going to make the start of the parade but she could perhaps make the Abbey and at least then she would be in place for the wedding and coronation.

She rapped on the carriage Take me straight to the Abbey she sighed, wondering if perhaps she should have just stayed home, where at least she had the cows and the sheep and her son to keep her company.

The busiest place in the world, on the busiest day on the year and I'm alone and lonely, she muttered, shaking her head and fiddling with the lace on her dress

Raising the flag of the Templars was not that easy at first as she had expected. The flagpole was a thick wooden rod, an it was quite long, in addition. On the upper end the flag itself was hanging: a heavy, black and white coloured drapery with the red cross of the Templars in the middle. Keeping it in her hands, trying to raise the standard higher Eumelia slowly realized she should have eaten even more meat...

Finally however, the wind caught the flag, and the emblem of the Order became visible from all parts of the procession. Eumelia felt pride.

Daisy piped up after Taarna with a lopsided smirk, "Or perhaps this is simply the King's cunning way of calling his future wife a "Dragon" without actually saying it to her face!" She snorted and fell silent again. The implications involving the subduing and slaying of said dragon, well... she wouldn't touch with a 10-foot-lance.

Along the bumpy parade route, the usually well-behaved baroness hooped and hollered in a most unladylike fashion especially when she saw recognizable faces. Maman would've been appalled.
*Ma chère fille! tsk tsk tsk
That thought brought a delighted grin upon Elsbet's face.

Unfortunately, her fancy Dragon Hat knitted by the church ladies teetered dangerously atop her head with every jostle. It was just a bit too big. Not wanting to fuss with it a minute longer, Elsbet tore it off her head and tossed it into the crowd..

Aria was running just a wee bit late, by the looks of a few folks with ale dripping from their hair and funneling from their long belled sleeves. Still, no one could chastise her. She'd like to see them mount a decorated horse in this outfit , while hauling a sack full of cups.

Urging her charger on, she ducked her head while riding past Lewe's fabulously beastly creation in honor of the day, and tossed cups from her sack into the waiting hands of the parade's onlookers
. Cups! Cups to catch the Dragon's fire! For yer drinkin' pleasure! Long live the King!

Aria hoped that was decent enough, if something was more properly scripted for the occasion she'd left it back with her cloak and common sense.

((Raella had permission to mod Aria the rest of this thread))

Bill made his way to the route and found the streets filled with people from all over the kingdom. He scouted out a fine place to watch the festivities as they passed before him. He shouted and waved to those in the parade he knew, and even some that he didn't know. He admired all the work going into putting on this event and took time to admire the crowd enjoying the event as well. It was a great day for England.

Sara was really getting into this parade malarky! She was having a fabby time with her friends from Sussex and now that the hard work of planning and building the dragon was over, she could concentrate on enjoying the parade. Waving at the crowds lining the streets, Sara felt the organisation that had gone into the day was phenomenal. She had never met Lavea personally, but everything she had heard about the lady impressed her greatly, Jah knows that Sara would never have been able to even contemplate an event such as this! She grinned as more of their dragon team joined them.
