(ORP) Royal Parade & Coronation of King Cullan Holifard

Amethise
Tahsa wrote:
Smiling she agreed with Amethise, that she too had been having a great time in the parade. The shortbread I did make but not without some hints from our famous baker Bill. We should have a celebration soon in Mercia, to show off the grand dragon before we take it apart? Perhaps we can get others to bake more delicious sweets too? she said with a big grin.

Looming closer and closer was the Abbey. She gasped at how large a building it was. Have ya seen something so beautiful Amethise? Its grand size over shadowed anything she had ever seen, as she kept looking skyward. Her eyes kept darting around looking for Alun, who had promised to wait for her near the Abbey so that they may attend the ceremony together. The motley throngs of people seemed to push closer and closer to the parade as they got to the Abbey. She felt a few tugs at her skirt and looked to see small, blue eyes looking up at her. She looked in the basket to see only a handful of shortbread left. There ya go, have em. she said with a smile as she handed the basket to the small child. The child's eyes grew wide and she said Thank ya Miss! as she scooted away. Tahsa remembers when she was without means and was hoping to always give back to those when she could. There was something about this trip which brought on an epiphany.

Amethise smiled on hearing of Bill offering baking tips; his baked goods were indeed famous in Mercia -- and perhaps further afield, for all she knew. "Well, you made a splendid job of it!" she replied, "I have simply never tasted better shortbread anywhere!"

Tahsa's enthusiasm was infectious, and Amethise couldn't help grinning in response, "A Dragon Disassembling Party back home would be an excellent idea… although it may need a much catchier name than that!" She chuckled, before adding, "Many years ago, before I became a weaver, baking was my first profession, and I have been known to produce a cake on occasion since then, although not very often, I must admit."

Following Tahsa's gaze, she looked up at the Abbey as they drew ever closer. "I have been here before for previous coronations and…" she hesitated to mention sad events on such a happy day… "state funerals…" recovering her spirits, she smiled, "but its sheer size and the beauty of the architecture always impress me, just as much as they did on my very first visit."

Smiling at Tahsa's warmth and kindness, as she gave away the remainder of her shortbread, Amethise checked her own basket; only a few pieces were left. On impulse, she handed the basket up to the driver of their wagon, but only after discreetly slipping a pouch of coins inside it -- the promised ale money for the two men, who had served them so well this day. "We may become separated shortly," she told him, "but we shall meet again after the ceremonies are over, to ensure that all is in hand for the journey back to Mercia." She smiled warmly at the two men. "Until then, please enjoy the festivities. Thank you so very much for all you have done -- your service today has been truly invaluable!"

Kiane
As they had walked, Kiane had enjoyed watching the spectacle that was the parade to the Abbey but was slightly disheartened at not seeing any faces of the few friends he had left in the Kingdom. As they neared the steps, he did spot Lady Irish proudly displaying her association with Her Sacred Rose and smiled. Without obvious purpose, Kiane slowly milled his way through the throng in her direction; it would be nice to wait with someone he knew. He was expecting to find another, of who had promised to meet him here, and figured his chances would be better in greater numbers.

As he inched his way through, he spotted another set of old friends and smiled at the sight of them. It had been many years since seeing Cornish and Kristin and they both looked happy and healthy, and for that he was glad. He would make a point to catch up with them after the ceremonies.

She laughed with the words saied by Mic – There's nothing to do with you Lord of Shermanbury.
They walked following the crowd just to the Westminster Abbey. The procession was over, so they got into the Abbey, Swini helped Sibi to went down to the floor.

She looked at her daughters – Girls, time for fun it's over, now we must enter to the Abbey – she knew that the girls had enjoyed a lot of the parade. She mended the dresses of the girls and also her gown. Looked at Mic – Let's go childs – she took each girl of the hand. - Mic, let's go and look for a spot from where we can see the ceremony.

Kelster
As the parade made it's way towards the Abbey, Kelster could not believe the sights and sounds around him. If England did anything well at all it was most certainly pomp and ceremony. It really was a sight to behold.

As they reached to Abbey and some started to enter, he thought to himself. I hope this place is big enough for everyone, he then chuckled to himself.

She grimaced as the flask fell short, and slid quickly through the growing crowd to snatch it up again. Everywhere seems to be dresses and uniforms and finery and people. Too many people. She made it to the front and her mouth twisted in grudging admiration of the new king's grit.

She looked round quickly, but the ceremony hadn't started yet. Taking a deep breath, she climbed the few steps to him, bowed, and handed him the flask. "Yours, I believe," she told him with a brief, almost conspiratorial, grin, and backed away into the crowd again.

Beatriz was late, as usual. At least too late to know who was doing what or talking with who and too late to look for a good place to park the carriage, that's why she had arrived mounting a white horse instead. As soon she had found a lackey to take care of the mount, she walked down the gardens approaching to the Abbey, dressing an aqua-and-peach dress with silver beanding, hoping that no one else was wearing it in the event (crossing fingers).

She had had to wake up early in the morning, and so she still seemed a little bit drowsy, confused by the crowd sorrounding her. But even considering her somnolence, she still was able to take a mental note about to ask an audience with the King after the wedding to demand a Royal Decree prohibiting the Royal events to start so early in the morning. Oh, jah 7 a.m.!! That was the time she usually went to sleep, of course because she worked tirelessly in service to England day and night, not because she frequented taverns and parties till the dawn.

The Abbey was completely crowded. Going through the crowd, she still was able to see some familiar faces to greet afterwards, but as soon as she managed herself to come into the magnificent building, she was accidentally pushed by someone and that was enough for her to get completely lost for a while.

Once they'd gotten underway things had gone even better than hoped. Sure, a few drunken revelers had tried to get too close to the carriage, but they were easily blocked by Restless' body as Ame moved the big gelding in and herded them away. But even if there had been a threat Amerys knew that they'd have had an unpleasant surprise waiting in the carriage in the form of cousin Kazzia's wee knives.

Colors, noise, excitement! Everywhere she looked there were banners and pennants, musicians, dancers. Ale flowed as hawkers sang out their wares. Sometimes Amerys couldn't even hear Restless' hooves on the cobbles above the noise.
And of course there were the dragons. From her vantage atop the horse Amerys could see over most of the crowd and a grin slid across her face. Impressive, they were, and she hoped the crowds were enjoying them fully. "Especially Sussex's," she chuckled, thinking of the fountains of ale spewing forth on this dry day.

The courser had settled down to work admirably, as she'd known he would, but suddenly he flinched and sidestepped away from the carriage. In a second Amerys realized why - the bridesmaids were throwing candy and coins to the crowd and the horse had unexpectedly been struck by a handful. Amerys pulled rein and slowed him until they'd finished, then threaded him up again through the dozens of children who'd rushed into the street for the treats, a pair of them well known to herself. "Maeve, Liam! Watch yourselves there, aye?" she called out to her youngsters, but she grinned as they looked up and waved to her. A glance behind them showed little Branna as well, her small hand tightly clasped by Anna's as the maid kept the toddler safely in tow, a piece of sticky candy happily clasped in the child's fist and more smeared on her face. "Ahh, well," her mother smiled ruefully as the parade moved on.

Then the Abbey came into view. The procession slowed as the crowd thickened here and guards and troops urged the onlookers back so the various floats and carriages could have room to get clear. Churchmen could be seen waiting on the steps as the King's chariot drew up, and the entire procession paused while he carefully dismounted. Amerys knew he must be in pain, but he was on his feet and seemed able to walk unaided. "At least he'll be able t' sit through the coronation..." she thought. But first there was the wedding to get through.
The procession began to inch forward again. Amerys would stay close as the Heir's carriage slowly drew nearer the Abbey, waiting to dismount until the Princess was safely with the King, and guards around the steps.

As they reached the Abbey, the amount of people there already and coming along as they brought up the end of the parade, was unbelievable. Keeping her smiles and being careful to keep up the proper appearance she scanned the faces hoping more than anything to see her husband and brother. She felt it was hopeless though and suppressed her disappointment until suddenly she caught sight of them , first Kelster then Edward. It was a good thing she was still in their carriage as if she hadn't she was sure she would be running to them telling of the events so far and getting a kiss from her husband she had missed so much. However now was no the time as they all had more duties ahead.

She glanced to Aggnes for a split moment. She was thinking of asking if she could quickly greet her family. Then she thought better of it knowing in a few hours she would be with them and now her time was serve the crown.

She looked back in hopes to catch Edward's or Kel's eye and they were gone, either enveloped in the ever thickening crowd or moved along to find a place to sit. At least she knew they had made it safely to London and some how some way she would find them when the time allowed.

She smiled looking back to Aggnes. M'lady are you ready to wed the King of England.? Or more appropriately are you ready to make him the most lucky King in the world by the honor of being your husband? She had only her own wedding day feeling to draw from and that Aggnes must be filled with the happy anticipation that she had been moments before her own ceremony.

Mic looked at her and chuckled..catching her meaning in her remark...

Lady Goswintha de La Olla i Santacana, I will be happy to escort you and your child's to the Abbey for the Coronation and Wedding. I have seen many familiar faces from Sussex today Swini, and maybe I will be able to introduce you to them after the ceremony.

Mic helped with taking Sibi's hand as they walked to the Abbey and hoped they would be able to find a good place to sit.

Our large friend was pleased when the parade reached the steps of the Abbey. The King spoke, but James could not hear it, his ears were ringing from all the screaming, shouting, cheering, and so forth. Spying a stable boy nearby gawking, our friend motions the lad over as he dismounts, then hands over his reins. This done, the young Captain makes to follow the King up the steps of Westminster. At the top, young James will move into a position at the side, while the wedding takes place.

Irish spotted Father Kiane and waved to him to catch his eye. Happy to see he at least found her.

Applus attempts to find a familiar face were of little success. That was, until he saw someone waving in his general direction, instead of towards the parade. He narrowed his eyes in an attempt to see who it was and to his great surprise, he saw his lord Kalens. Applus waved back and started moving towards him.

As he made his way through the crowd, he heard someone calling his name. He recognized the voice, but failed to place a name to it, until he looked in the direction where the sound came from. He immediately recognized lady McNairn from the Embassy Ball last year. He waved back with a broad smile on his face and tried to say something back, but his voice got lost in the crowd. One of the prices of getting old was that your ability to talk loudly wanes, so instead he tried to gesture to her that he couldn't reply at the moment and that they would speak later when possible.

After some effort, Applus finally reached Kalens and was pleasantly surprised to see lady Melanie with him as well.

Lord Kalens, my friend, it is so good to see you. I was afraid that I wouldn't see any familiar faces today. How are you?
And lady Melanie, it has been a while since we last spoke in person. I trust everything is well?

Following his latest set of orders, Andreas made his way through the throng towards his newly assigned duty, doing his best to stop his mount from rearing as she was getting skittish and twitchy with the noise. Finally arriving at his destination, he grinned at the Guard already there Alright Ame. I've been sent to give you a wee hand.

He had never seen so many people in his life. And he had seen a lot. He was standing some taller than most of them, still he couldn't see much. And he could not hear much. Bubbly talking, someone shouting, murmuring, all kind of English accents, on top of that languages he didn't understand at all. Colourful, yes. Interesting. Wondering where...

I have lost my wife!
She was here a few minutes ago. Now she is gone. Lost in the crowd.

Bartram looks bewildered around. No. Strange faces. Hundreds of them. The only one I want is lost!

Keeping his sword against his side with his left hand Bartram clears way with his right hand and elbow, ploughing his way through the crowd in desperation, trying not to hurt people though. Just he is in a hurry.

Where did I feel her hand in mine last? Her perfume! Her scent. Nothing like hers here... What was she wearing? I cannot remember her clothing!
Bartram begins looking for his wife, wed and lost, all in two days, trying to remember her dress and headgear.
Blonde, blonde... too ample this one - that one is too thin. Why is everyone looking in one direction only, all I see is backs. There!
Bartram rushes to grab a good hold of a blonde lady of right size and figure realizing too late that she isn't the right one. Not her scent! - Excuse me mylady, so sorry, pardon... I'm looking for me wife, you were almost that. I must go on, sorry.
Bartram continues his search, now sniffing before grabbing, continues...

There are riders making way in the crowd, people get panicked, there's tumult. Bartram gets a knock in his head from behind and he falls forward, onto something soft, familiar.
Before losing his consciousness Bartram feels the scent of his wife, he has bumped on her.

Kalens looked out from the steps of the Abbey and quickly realized he was in the wrong place... he scooted down the steps towards where he saw Melanie and Applus standing relatively near each other.
Kalens greeted Melanie, M'lady Chancellor.. I am glad you made it. Kalens looked about, Laird Ian couldn't come? I see Chancellor Applus...
Awaiting an answer he waved to Applus to join them with a great smile.

She was so relieved when she heard a familiar voice, as she turned she saw Lord Kalens.

Lord Kalens! So good to see you! I was so afraid I was not going to see anyone I knew!

She smiled sadly and shook her head.

No he couldn't, we are not married anymore. Apparntly we were blood related so our wedding was void and null.

Then Lord applus arrived.

Hello Chancellor Applus, same applies to me! I thought I was not going to see any familiar faces. Apparently I found 2 by now. Everything is fine, I'm more than honoured to have been invited to the wedding and all.

She arranged her red dress properly and a bit nervously as she spoke with them. She turned her head to the tumult to see the recently wed Lord Bartram bumping unconscious onto his wife. As soon as he woke up, she would wave.
