(ORP) Royal Parade & Coronation of King Cullan Holifard

She smiled looking back to Aggnes. M'lady are you ready to wed the King of England.? Or more appropriately are you ready to make him the most lucky King in the world by the honor of being your husband? She had only her own wedding day feeling to draw from and that Aggnes must be filled with the happy anticipation that she had been moments before her own ceremony.

Aggnes watched the preparations on the Abbey steps, waiting for Cullan to be ready before she and her group disembarked. She was glad to see at least two people offering him flasks, and knew what would be in the one from Lark.

"I'd better be ready, hadn't I? It's a little late to get cold feet now, and if I did, Lavea threatened to marry him to Demdyke." Jokes helped, at times of high stress. She'd been carefully not asking herself that question, concentrating on the one-step-at-a-time approach to the day, and feeling very glad she'd only had a light breakfast. "Let's look at it the third way, the one with the most responsibility involved. Am I ready to become Queen of England? Yes."

edit: the principals standing at the top of the steps refuse to provide graphics of themselves, but here's a view just before they get there

Amerys
She saw one of the Royal Guard making his way back along the parade route, watched as his horse shied and he quickly got it under control. Amerys raised a hand in greeting and as he drew close she heard him, "Alright Ame. I've been sent to give you a wee hand."
"The comp'ny's most welcome," she replied with a smile and nodded toward the opposite side of the carriage, suggesting that he take up position there.
Though new to the Guard, Andy was an experienced soldier and her clansman as well. She was glad to have him there, especially with the press of the crowds so close.

The parade was coming to an end and that was such a shame, but at least she would be able to see the royal wedding. As the dragon float stopped she glanced down to see the hunky men that Sara had brought to walk with lining up into a bit of formation at the base of the dragon. She grinned a bit as she was highly tempted too give one last spray of the ale, but worried that she would end up spraying someone of great importance and insulting them... Well it was a parade after all, and a party...

She teased the levers and gave a bit of a war cry to give warning, at least to the men below, before the gave a cry back and pretended to attack the dragon. Naturally she had to... So she took aim and released a medium stream of the ale at them laughing in merriment and delight. Well at least there was still still one more shot to be had just in case after this. Now she debated to stay in the dragon to watch the ceremony or to join in with the crowd.

Following the procession Nissa finally managed to reach the monumental cathedral of Westminster Abbey. The crowd was huge by the time she arrived, she was hardly able to take a single step without bumping in others.

She struggled herself though the endless sea of people until she managed to appraoch the gate of the immense church. She only hoped to find a suitable place from where she could follow the ceremony. She glanced right, then left, then right again... realizing it would have been impossible to drop even a pin in the huge crowd. However, some acquinted faces appeared: some kind people whom she met at the Embassy's Winter Ball. She managed to catch the face of Lady Goswinta for a second, some Schottish diplomats perhaps....

Oh yes, and there was Lord Bartram over there. The newly wed Finnish Chancellor seemed to look for his wife desperately, then suddenly.... Oh Jah.... they bumped onto each other. Nissa looked anxiously towards her friend who seemed to be unconscious and hoped strongly that either him or Lady Beatriz was not seriously hurt. "I must meet them after the ceremony..." she decided to herself.

Kazzia smiled as Taarna squeezed her hand and started to wave but there really wasn't much room at the window. She saw the abbey and her stomach twisted slightly. This place held so many memories for her. She popped a piece of mint in her mouth to ease her stomach a bit, and kept her most charming smile in place, it only took moments for her mind to process all the information whirling around.

She lay her hands on her stomach comfortable in the fact that her knives were safely stashed on herself as the crowds began congregating as they drew to the end of the line. She'd have a devil of a time parting with them but it would not be the first time she'd done so, worn them to the last second in protection of others, and it would not be the last, thought she'd have to beg Taarna or one of the other girls to help her remove them later, She was not sure she could remove the one down her spine without some damage to her dress, it had been the devil to get on without the other ladies seeing. She knew she'd never sneak them into the abbey though for both Ame and James would know she wore them. Still, she was keeping them on during the ceremony. She'd not be caught off guard, the ones they had were grand, she knew many of the faces well as she spotted them keeping the group safe. And she knew Saira had a cutlass as well, but they weren't in the carriage were they? And during a threat her throwing knives would garner more support for distance work, she was good enough she never doubted her ability to use the, not even in this crowd. Her thin sword would work for close work, as would two daggers. Still, the other women didn't need to know she had them, so she straightened and suddenly her stomach felt better.

She tweaked the skirts of her dress, preparing to stand suddenly. My lady? She asked with a smile, Did you think to send the footmen ahead with the steps? Or will I need to ask Katiya or Emily to help. I had Emily bring my herb chest, it is sturdy enough to be used as a step, and it's pretty, if need be. With a practiced eye she turned to the princess' gown and moved the skirts once more out of the way allowing her to turn when it was time to leave. I'm assuming, Highness, you wish us to go first, then Saira, then you? Grand entrance and traditional wedding mark all in the same go? Or have you other ideas? I don't want us getting out of the carriage, and looking confused. If any of the ladies isn't confident in walking this, perhaps put them in the middle, so all they need to do is follow? She asked with a smile. She knew the Queen to be had a plan, but she wanted it clear for all the ladies there, less confusion that way.

The crowd pressed closer and closer as the parade neared the Abbey. Then finally, it was here and the King was mounting the steps along with his guard. Bree had never seen a King before and she applauded and cheered with the rest, happy for her vantage on the stone bench.

It appeared the wedding would come before the Coronation. Bree watched as a grand carriage pulled up containing what seemed like too many ladies and too many dresses for one mediumish-sized carriage. She wondered if the Princess was squashed in there as well and looked to see her alight to attend her nuptials.

Alfred arrived at the end of the route, his head covered in sweat. He didn't just walk the whole journey, but had run, jumped and called to the crowd with all his might. He drew a cloth from his pocket and wiped his head off. He was most certainly going to be tired later, but there was still much to do. Thankfully there was a wedding and coronation between this and his next performance... Plenty of time for him to prepare and gain his energy back.

He turned and made his way to the ceremony. He wanted to get a good seat before they were all taken up, after all.

Cullan
As if by divine intervention, Galrador handed him a flask. Giving him a groan of appreciation, he tipped it to his lips. It burned all the way. There were reasons it was called liquid courage. As he handed it back to his groomsman a thin arm slid out from the crowd. Attached to it was a well dressed woman...Lark? He didn't know the woman long, but she didn't seem the dress wearing type. Giving her a sly smirk, he grunted. "thank ya..." then, glancing around, he added. "...Lady Lark."

he ducked his head behind James as the large man came up the stairs so he could taste what the woman offered. It was thick and strong, but not alcoholic. The aftertaste was entirely herbal. Maybe she was poisoning him? He shrugged, sliding it into his belt. If he died, it would make a great story.

Sighing heavily he straightened his back, leaning on his cane to pull his weight off his bad leg. It was time to meet his bride.

Anneke
The young woman eased her way through the crowds, towards the main steps of the Abbey. She paused to watch the procession, a smile lighting her face at four colourful dragons that passed. One of them seemed to be accompanied by music, which she giggled at - although she gave a slight blush - when she caught a few words as they passed by. There were lots of people to watch in the parade, too, not just dragons. Soldiers and sailors had marched or ridden past, as well as people in rather ornate garb who she heard someone mention were the Garters. That gave her another little giggle. She knew it was a high award, though wasn't sure just what it was, but she had always been a bit amused at the name, because clearly a garter was not just something that held up her stockings. Oh, and there were church people and knights, too. Anneke was quite excited really, at the spectacle.

It was when she noticed that the Princess was approaching the Abbey that she realised that the parade was ending and she needed to take her place quickly, so as not to miss the wedding. After all, the Princess was from her own home town. And she'd met the King there not long ago, too, so this was a ceremony she wanted to see. She moved through the throng and managed to get near to the Abbey steps. For a minute, she was confused, thinking that she ought to be inside the holy building, but then somebody in the crowd said that the wedding was to be outside and then they would all go inside for the Coronation. Content now that she might be in the right place to get a good view, Anneke stood quietly, craning her neck to watch.

"I'm pretty sure the design of the carriage has steps that fold down from where we're standing, so all that needs doing is unbolting them and hoping they don't drop on anyone. You ladies first, yes, then there's a nice shield of skirts ready in case the wind catches mine as I descend. Saira wanted to stay up top until we're all clear. If Amerys is ready for us, then let's go."

She paused, waiting, while the steps were swung down, and they all obediently descended, then picked up one item from the side that she had an idea she was about to need. Spectacle, it was all about spectacle...

Saira smiled as she saw the very, very last thing in the procession, after the Princess' carriage. The real reason why she had sat on the top of the carriage was about to become clear.

It had gauzy, blue and white sparkling cloth fluttering from its mouth in the breeze. An ice dragon, from the cold north, breathing icy frost. Its time had come; one last bit of pageantry before the wedding ceremony. The Westmorland Dragon made its entrance.

People were underneath it to move it, and holding wings out on sticks, making it "fly" sinuously round the carriage, to loom over the Ice Queen below.

It appeared that the Westmorland contingent, the Princess' home county, had something theatrical planned, as the great beast bent down as if to swallow the bride up whole... Saira had her real cutlass, of course, but had a big wooden one stashed ready for the show; she reached under the seat to grab it, and stood up on top of the carriage to brandish it at the beast, shouting down to Aggnes, "Highness! Look out!"

Poised at the top of the carriage steps, so as to give the audience as good a view as possible, Aggnes looked up into the huge tooth-filled mouth that swung above her, and hoped the Royal Guard would realise that something made of paper wasn't a real threat.
"Begone, foul beast!" she cried, remembering as she did so the tendency of Westmorlanders to argue with or completely ignore orders.

Aleks gave small bow as the King approached him. "Greetings Your Majesty." he said. He motioned to Parson Jones behind him. "This is my assistant, Parson Jones. He'll be helping me with the ceremony."

Aleks then turned back to the King and held his hand out.

Saira theatrically leaped to her feet at the top of the carriage with a sureness born of time spent in rigging at sea, wooden sword in the air. She had to fight a grin as she heard parents in the crowd giving mock gasps of terror to amuse the children, as the poor Princess was about to be eaten! What would happen next?

"Aye, serpent, ye shall have to freeze me first, afore ye have the Royal Bride and her maids!"

She carefully pokes her fake sword into the gaps in the neck, and the puppeteers swing the great head up as if the beast is in pain, and the head swings; she falls onto her back on the roof of the carriage as if knocked down, and cries out; "Ah, I'm hit! Nothing now stands between me and Her Highness! Defend yerself, lady!"

"Oi, m'lady. Willya Looka tha'!"
From her perch, Elsbet watched as a pale white dragon came bearing down on the Lady Aggnes.
As she applauded the efforts of their future queen attempting to shoo away the evil beast, only one thought occurred to the little dragon governess..

Where is there a virile and handsome knight with golden locks and dazzling teeth when you need one? Lordy...
