(ORP) Royal Parade & Coronation of King Cullan Holifard

Jasmine.
Jasmine rode along with the Army Commander followed by both forces. She was so proud of them. Her eyes kept moving ahead of the crowd and focused on the royal carriage. These events surely set her teeth on edge. She spotted the dragons and smiled as she saw each unique design. She liked the idea and the symbolism behind them.

She tried her best to relax but that was not a possibility as long as the King and his future Queen were in such a huge crowd. Then came out a cry snapping her attention towards the WML dragon that charged towards the Princess. Her hand automatically reached out for her sword but before she drew it and charged towards the artificial creature as her reflex urged her to, she remembered the Lady Chamberlain letter. She forced her hand to relax and let go of the hilt of her sword.

She giggled nervously and glanced at Dame Deema, "I guess it is a good thing lady Lavea let us know that the dragons will be performing and ...fighting. I am sure the ones in control have been searched and checked several times before being allowed this close to the King and Princess."

She giggled as she watched how the Princess handled the situation smartly and the symbolism behind it. It was true that a quill could be more lethal than a sword but not many people understood that. Many spout out words giving very little thought to how they land or where. She wondered if this little scene would help those people to reflect more in the future.

Amerys
"There he is!" A smile broke across her face as she spotted Rowan near the front of the Abbey. She raised a hand to him, hearing at the same time a chorus of "hellos" directed at him from Maeve and Liam somewhere behind her. The children would not be attending the coronation, but Amerys had promised them an outing in the city later in the evening. The royal wedding on the steps of the great church though, would be an event to remember in itself.

Just how much of an event she hadn't realized...
Already tense from the crowds, noise, flying candy and a dozen other (from a horse's point of view) unnatural things, Restless, from the corner of his eye, caught glimpse of a HUGE flapping beast bearing down from the rear. And, as any sensible horse might do, he got out of it's way. In a leap worthy of legend he made one giant plunge away from the monster before wheeling about, snorting and pawing, to face it.
His rider, somehow, just barely managed to keep her seat through this acrobatic stunt, and, by the time her horse stopped moving, had one hand over her shoulder gripping the hilt of the sword slung across her back.
Realization came immediately as the staged performance continued and, somewhat sheepishly, Amerys released the sword, kicked free of the stirrups and slid off her mount. For a moment she simply leaned against him as her own jangled nerves steadied. "Jah's teeth..." she muttered. With a single deep breath, she just shook her head and handed Restless off to one of the stable boys there for the purpose.

Then, hurriedly collecting herself, she took up position a short distance from Princess Aggnes as the ceremony got under way.

Having caught sight of one of the royal servants she quickly had two flasks brought to the bride to be . One consisted of a strong but pleasant tasting rum (couldn't have the the queen making a facial reaction to some poor tasting beverage) and one a smooth and delicate wine. Either way would provide some calming effect, one quite a bit stronger than the other, but only Aggnes would know which would be in need.

What she hadn't seen was the design of the flasks until it was too late, then again how could she have expected anything else.

M'lady a bit of a sip to clear your throat? then in a bit of a whisper and wink to Aggnes, one's wine , one's rum, so careful if you sip too much.

She had the strong urge for a sip herself but after the dragon skit she wanted to keep clear of mind for Jah only knew what else might happen.

She looked at the flasks and laughed. "Clever, and appropriate. A drop of wine would clear the dust from my throat, thanks - can't have a coughing fit while taking my vows."
She took a quick sip, and returned the flask.

Eumelia
Finally they were there at the immense cathedral of Westminster. Eumelia was happy that the parade was now over and she was looking forward to the ceremonies.

She was amazed to see the "fight" between Princess and the Westmorland dragon. She liked the unique idea of the "Red Pen of the Doom" especially when the white body of the dragon turned red... Eumelia burst into applause when the display finished.

She packed the flag of the Templars and put it away in her saddle bag - after all she couldn't go in the church with a standard in her hand - then quickly put on her baroness tiara and moved closer to the gate and tried to find a suitable place to track the events.

Ach, people were pushing past them and heading in both directions it seemed, always in a hurry, even as they tried to get closer to the Abbey and trying to get Merthyns attention. Suddenly there were arms about her, and she startled a moment at first till that oh so familiar and warm voice came with near her ear. Then a smile crept upon her face. "Ah!" She exclaimed before giving a little half turn, and a full on smile to Zeke. "My dearest, you shouldn't sneak up on a lady, never know if will strike first or not." She was teasing him a bit though with a light laugh.

Quickly she glanced tween him and Ellie for a moment before giving a brief nod and realizing that perhaps she should introduce them.. "Aye this is Ellie one of my dearest friends. Ellie.." A bit more of a smile for a moment before she continued. "This be Zeke, the mysterious fella I wrote you bout, oh! we are almost late!" She laughed merrily at the thought of that, although there was still people milling about and chattering, at least so it seemed, but she could see the King and Queen ahead talking and surrounded and realized that it with a quick smile as her other hand found Zekes and with one of them on each side then she started leading the way more towards those lovely seats that would let them see the ceremony.
"I still cannot believe that Cullan is getting married." She shook her head realizing it was that part that was more startling then the fact that he was about to be crowned King. Although it wasn't that surprising if really thought about it.
She gave a smile over at Zeke as well as she leaned to speak quietly to him, "I be glad you came and were able to find us. Hopefully wasn't too horribly difficult." She beamed at him happily while getting herself situated in the chair and ready to pay attention to the ceremony that was about to begin.

Emrys caught up with the parade and stopped at the abbey. His dismount was quick and he surveyed the entrance just as he handed his reins to a royal footman. While he wore the colors of the Royal Guard and the Prince's Own, there was a prominent pin on his collar that displayed the arms of the Knights of the Realms of England.

It was times like this that he could appreciate James' stature. The man was very easy to spot in a crowd. He was also scanning the faces for another. He had arranged to meet with Sir Robert before entering the venue. He was also certain that it would not take long. Meanwhile, he moved off to the side so he would not impede the guests.

Amethise told the driver and his heroic dragon tamer to enjoy the festivities as she handed them her basket of goodies. Tahsa nodded up at them and added Thank you ever so much for all your help!

As they got almost to the front of the Abbey, she began to look around hoping to catch anyone she knew. Thank you again Amethise, I've to meet someone up front here and Im afraid they are not within my sight. We shall get together and get the dragon disassembling day planned out soon. She smiled and waved as she headed in the direction of the Abbey.

Gasping as she saw the white dragon looming over head, she made her way towards the stairs hoping to find Alun.

"Perhaps we may see each other again after the ceremony," Amethise smiled, "but if not, no doubt we shall meet back home. Thank you again for everything, Tahsa. I hope you find your friend, and enjoy the day!" She smiled and waved to Tahsa as she left, then, after a final brief exchange to confirm arrangements with their wagon driver and dragon wrangler, turned towards the Abbey herself.

She had heard that the Royal Wedding was to take place on the steps, so she wove her way steadily through the throng of onlookers, some of whom had pressed in closer for a better look at the dragons. As she reached what she considered a suitable vantage point to watch the wedding, a great rumpus broke out and she turned to look, gasping in surprise as a white dragon reared up at the very end of the parade. She had surmised that she had been unable to see three dragons up ahead, because their own float was positioned so far back in the parade, but it appeared that the fourth dragon had been designed to bring up the rear, after all! She stood transfixed, observing the artful piece of theatre with great amusement; it played out superbly, to well-deserved acclaim from the crowd.

When the spectacle came to an end, Amethise composed herself to watch quietly, as the Princess readied herself to approach the Abbey.

Taarna
"Well ladies," began Taarna, "Are we all settled after that lovely excitement?" She looked around. It seemed as if everyone was starting to calm down a bit. Smiles were beginning to replace confusion and fright, and outright laughs at moments could be heard.

"Princess," murmured Taarna to Aggnes, "are you ready? I'm sure that Kazzia has more fortification for you if needed. But I do believe that your groom is waiting, and it is time to start your walk down the aisle."

As the Princess nodded yes, Taarna said, "Last minute preparations, ladies!" Everyone surrounded Princess Aggnes and adjusted things here and there, making sure that everything was perfect and in place.

She then looked out in the crowd for her group of singers. They had been faithfully waiting at the abbey - no easy feat - and were ready to play the bride up the aisle.

Taarna signaled to them to begin their song, and as the strains of the beautiful song began, all the women held their heads up high and began the walk up the abbey steps to the waiting King.

Looking around, he saw Julianna with another woman, presumably her sister, and several children. He smiled at her when Julianna caught his eye. Preoccupied with her part in the evening's events and seeing her family again, Ruith had not had much chance to see her in recent days. Instictively, he gave her a hug when she joined them.

"All set for this evening?" he asked.

Julianna hugged Ruith back. She had been getting a little worried for him. "I think so," she answered. "Dad has given me one of my mother's beaded shawls to wear with our dress. I hope things in Hayton get smoother after this year's harvest, though. I would love to make another dress when we're not so busy. Did you have a good journey?"

The song really was lovely, and Aggnes took it as a hint. "My bonnie lass, she smileth". She wasn't a "lass", she doubted if "bonnie" was an accurate description, but she could do smiling, especially when she remembered Cullan's face when he saw the dragon. At the moment, behind her bevy of bridesmaids, she couldn't see him at all, but as the ladies and their dresses parted at the top of the steps, forming up on either side, she got a closer view than she had before. Her lips compressed slightly, and her progress up the last few steps speeded up.
"Let me guess," she said to him as she reached the top, quietly enough that while the main crowd couldn't hear her, those closer undoubtedly could. "You decided to stand in that chariot for the whole parade, right? And you haven't drunk the flask Lark gave you."
She turned to Alex without waiting for an answer. "Bishop ap Meurig, as far as I'm aware the tenets of AWESOME do not require the groom to remain standing for the wedding ceremony, correct?" She didn't wait for an answer to that, either. There were plenty of groomsmen standing around, and she didn't care which of them obeyed her order, as long as it happened.
"A chair for His Majesty, now if not sooner."

Aleks knew he was in trouble. Aggnes had called him "Bishop ap Meurig". That meant only one thing-he was in trouble. "Jones. Jones!"

Parson Jones came over. Aleks instructed him to get the King a chair and two minutes later, he returned from the Abbey, two chairs in hand and placed them in front of the Bishop. "Ychwanegol ar gyfer y Dywysoges"* Jones said.

Aleks nodded to Jones as he took his place again behind the Bishop, who motioned to the King and Princess to sit.

*An extra for the Princess

Pagan
Pagan returned from her excursion to the ale and pastry shops, fully satiated and brimming with smug confidence, sound as... rocks! She had filled her stomach with food and three mugs of ale and the flask in her breast pocket with something a shabby individual in a shady alley had peddled as 'real Irish whiskey'. Pagan had her doubts about it, being an expert on what real Irish whiskey looked and smelled like, but at least the poison was proof - she had made sure of that. For exactly these kinds of situations Pagan always carried a small container of gunpowder with her. Before she allowed the peddler to take her money in exchange of filling the flask she had doused some of the gunpowder with the stuff and ignited it to test it wasn't watered down. That was way more important for Pagan than the authenticity or taste of it, and should it make her blind - hey! - what's life without a little adventure? Going blind was simply a hazard of the trade. Being a drunkard was a lot like being a sun-gazer, only way more fun.

What a fantastic life! And what a beautiful day! As far as days go, Pagan rated this one a luvvy-wuvvy! A wushy-tushy! Dee do did did do did did doo, de de do did did do did did doo...

Pagan joined the crowd gathered outside the abbey, pushing herself through to get a better view of what was going on inside.

Aleks turned to Parson Jones, who come up beside him after getting the chairs and held the service book open for him. Aleks lifted his hands, palms facing outward, so that they face the gathered people and began.

"In the name of Jah and the Convocation of the Aristotelian Westmorland Eclectic Synod of Missionary Evangelists I greet you and all those gathered here this day. Although the service may begin with a piece of music, I think we've had enough music and excitement with this wonderful parade and entrance of the bride and her party." He smiled and paused. Facing the crowds, he continued.

"These persons have come together, in our sight and in the sight of Jah to declare their joining together in holy matrimony. If there is any person who knows of any reason that these two should not be joined, speak now or stay forever silent."

He motioned for the witness to come forward and stand behind the bride and groom.

Noodle
The parade was fantastic and Noodle enjoyed it greatly, despite the masses of people and potential threats all around. He dropped his guard and the parade proved to be an event of spectacle and not endurance. All of the dragons from the different counties were impressive feats. The Sussexian neck-scarf made Noodle laugh out loud - Tis Brilliant!.

The momentum swung to the abbey and music swelled. Noodle felt a slight tingle down the back of his neck went entering the presence of Jah. Not quite a sting. He looked up and gave a polite nod of the head. Noodle was happy to see the Aleks wave him forward.

When stood behind the bride and groom, Noodle straightened his back and held a constant, uncomfortable smile in his cheeks.
