(ORP) Royal Parade & Coronation of King Cullan Holifard

Amerys
She passed Captain MacLeod on her way out, snapping a salute in passing as she wished him a good morning. Only a few days ago their positions had been reversed, but Amerys was more than glad to see James in the command position now and had every confidence in him.
No time for chitchat though, as both pressed on with the business of the day.

Her wolfhound at her heels, the petite redhead strode directly to the Tower's stables. A few questioning looks were sent her way, but they were used to her and no one interfered. There were grooms aplenty, but for an occasion such as this she'd leave nothing to chance and took as much care with her horse's appearance as she would with her own later. While Restless had his morning grain Amerys methodically curried, combed and brushed the black courser to a glow, then ran an experienced hand down each leg checking for swelling or tenderness before lifting the feet to clean his hooves and check his shoes.
She knew her tack was already polished and ready, but she gave it a quick dusting off with a soft cloth anyway, before leaving.

Outside by the gate she scratched her dog's ears as she looked around. She'd been assigned to escort the Heir, Princess Aggnes, today, but the Lady was not yet in evidence.
As she waited though, a fond and familiar face appeared. "Liam! My but you're up b'fore the birds this morn!" she exclaimed with a grin and the lad chuckled in response. "Aye, cousin, but I knew the big lad here'd need tendin'." He rubbed Fior's head as the wolfhound gave a huge dog-grin of pleasure. "Maeve's back at the Inn wi' wee Branna and Anna," he offered and Amerys nodded. All was well then. Her stepdaughter could join Liam later while the maid, Anna, looked after three year old Branna. Then they could all meet up with Rowan after the ceremonies. At least that's what she hoped... Juggling family and duty wasn't always easy.

Amerys sent the big dog off with Liam and returned to her duty quarters in the Tower. Time to get herself polished up for the day's events.

Nap always loved large, festive events with a lot of nobleman, and without poor peasants. He was very happy when he was asked to attend the coronation as commander of the Devon Regiment.

Since he had become the commander he hadn't had a lot of time for fancy events. Winter was very long this year and he still felt the cold winds in the bones.

Nap wore solemn clothes, on the left arm he had a little Templar emblem, and on the right the emblem of the Devon Regiment. On the right side of Nap's horse was his shield. The shield was divided into two halves, on first half was Nap's personal coat of arms, and on second his family coat of arms.

Nap saw a lot of people in courtyard, but he was not hungry and decied to stay a bit isolated. He hoped that he would soon see his brothers and sisters from the Templars.

Before the King could respond to his inquiries, they were both joined by one of the other groomsmen, Lord Robin. He had heard about the man, or better yet, read about his work in the REA. Something which had made quite an impression. Though looking at his face, he could tell he was a little at loss about who he was, though he eventually remember. Correctly in fact. He nodded back in agreement. It is Lord Robin. It's a pleasure to finally proper meet you.

Before much of the other pleasantries could commence, another man entered to room, quickly followed by another shortly after. Knowing there would be a total of five groomsmen, including himself, he figured both of them would be amongst them. He carefully eyed the man placing a knife on the table, but it seemed as if this man knew the King much better than he did.

Your Majesty. Lord Robin makes a valid point. It would be good to have a little rest and something to eat while you still can. We have a long and heayv day in front of us. And while you are seated, perhaps our friend with the knife can go about his business as well. It's surely much easier to do here than have him flick open the knife again while we are out on in the public. Though it sure would give the guards a run for their money. He chuckled lightly at the thought of it.

Dunpeal left home very early to make it in time. His old bones took its toil but he was happy to attend the grand ceremony that is a royal wedding and coronation. He had been invited as the mayor of Chard and was very pleased to be able to represent his humble town in this lavish affair.

Where was the mail? Where... ah, there! The day... tomorrow. Why was it always that soon?
Anyhow, there was a night to travel ahead, though the trip from Lewes to London Tower
was just north, well, almost at least. Past Uckfield, then north, passing Seven Oaks' ruins
and entering London by Croydon, up to River Thames to the Tower.

The Archbishop of Southwark had an evening of full preparations, though clearly not as much
as the King and the bride. That thought always kept her calm, so Mysti took her clerical
robes and also added the regular gown, as for the Baroness of Brighton, should this title
be preferred. Early in the day she had ordered her carriage to be prepared, so once she had
herself prepared, the carriage was ready as well. All evening and night the horses had to
trot and gallop to make the about 50 miles in due time.

Close to the streets around the Tower most roads were soon filled and Mysti had to get off
the carriage and complete the last parts of the way. Soon she saw the tents and looked
around. Yes... there was breakfast in preparations and it smelled good. After the trip and
a little bit 'f rest she also got a hunger. So many people... coronations and funerals
always brought many people of nobility crammed into tents and cathedrals. Mysti got
closer and soon found some familiar faces and even some people where she even knew
the names.

Saira arrives early to present herself to Princess Aggnes. Maid of honour at a royal wedding? That'd be something to tell the grandchildren...

But Saira and Aggnes knew each other well. Maid of honour in this case meant something along the lines of aide de camp. Combined personal assistant and bodyguard. The other bridesmaids were there to be beautiful and represent their noble houses, as was proper. Saira was there to make sure Lady Aggnes didn't trip over her frock, walk in muddy puddles, go thirsty or have anything other than a perfect day. She had sworn oath to Jah on it that morning, witnessed by no-one but Himself and her cat, Ale.

Saira's betrothed was to perform the wedding ceremony also - a big day for the Aristotelian Westmorland Eclectic Synod of Missionary Evangelists, the small Aristotelian sect that she, Aleks and Aggnes all belonged to. She had rather hoped she might see Aleks before the ceremony, but he'd be at the Abbey making his own preparations. He might seem a bit addled to those that didn't know him, but she knew very well that when he was doing Jah's work he took it extremely seriously. And it was the first time their little church would be thrown into the national eye, so all had to be perfect.

Fortunately Aggnes also knew Saira well enough to not try to get her into a dress - Saira did wear skirts at home but not on ship for obvious reasons, and had kept her usual Navy garb but had invested in a new plume for her hat and a finer jacket. She had been given special dispensation by the Royal Guard to keep her cutlass; she felt very much On Duty and would have felt uncomfortable without it. She presented herself to where the Princess was preparing for her wedding day. She had brought a personal gift - a small, beautifully bound pocket copy of The Homilies, a sacred text of theirs. It was, due to the fact that The Homilies were always being added to, a rather unusual design in that it had a clever system for sewing in new pages as new Homilies were added.

She waited to be ushered in to see the Princess. How far they had all come. On seeing her, she bowed, as was appropriate, then grinned. "D'ye remember when ye burst in on me and Aleks on the floor? Did ye think then that I would end up maid of honour to a future Queen, and that twit who banged his head on the floor would be doing the royal wedding?" She chuckled at the happy memory.

Lavea
Seeing the boys were well attended, Lav headed back towards the Queen's apartments, checking with a few messangers on the way, before reentering. "Ma'am, your tub is ready when you are."

Lark
Lark had spent the night in her usual room in her usual London inn. It was small and plain, and cheap, but also clean and comfortable (by her standards) and served good food. And it was far enough off the main roads that she could be herself rather than forced to meet expectations of what was suitable for a noble.

She grimaced at the dress hanging from a peg in the wall. Today, she had to make certain compromises. Even she couldn't get away with showing up to a coronation in work clothes, no matter how comfortable. In past years, she'd settled for just watching the parade, but this time she'd been dragged into the thick of it. The dress was a gorgeous dark burgandy red, made even darker by the black embroidery that disguised the divided skirts and wound around the close-fitting sleeves. Fashion be blowed, she wasn't having trailing bits of cloth dangling into everything, or dragging through everything. She'd been firm with the dressmaker - who in turn had complained that Lark would look like a peasant - but complied.

She slipped downstairs in shirt and breeches to grab some breakfast. Bread and cheese and mint tea, with a stored winter apple from home served nicely. Then it was back upstairs with a jug of water to wash and change and make ready for the long day ahead of her.

Cullan
Cullan chuckled at the Mercian, shaking his head "eat, lad! Yer taxes bought it, might as well enjoy it." he nodded as each man entered, happy that they had accepted his invitation. He had worried, considering he barely knew them. So far, though, they had answered.

The old man adjusted the red brocade doublet when Robin made the suggestion. He was right, of course, but his nerves had gone so bad he feared he would get sick.
"eat?!" he chortled "I'm about ta wed a dragon! I'd rather be skin an' bones, so she don't decide ta make a meal 'a me! No, m'lads. Eat up. Ah Joels." he smiled to him. "I'm sure th' Mistress a' th' Knights 'a Saint George wouldn't 'a let me miss my weddin'...especially wi' th' dress I commissioned..."his voice trailed off, his attention on the razor Noodle pulled out. Raising an eyebrow he asked. "What're ya plannin' ta do wi' tha'?"

Sandoval
Sandoval entered the hall, where she could see a crowd was already standing around to welcome the King. She gathered up her skirts so no one, including herself would trip over the train. It wasn't anything too grand, just a dress of purple silk, trimmed with ggold thread, with a train at the back. At least the floor will be clean, she thought as she nearly tripped and regreted choosing that dress.

As a representative Sussex navy, she was honoured to be here. She had never be at an event as large as this and was really looking forwards to it.

My lords and ladies, good day.

She spottted Giap from her town made her way over to him. It was nice to see a familiar face in all this finery. Maybe she might even glimpse the royals...

The musician glanced up as she glanced out the window when Lavea told them his name, embarrassed to be caught staring, she knew better it was rude, she flushed red. Waving back at him and smiling happily she stepped away from the window and tried to tone the coloring on her face down. She bowed her head for a moment and felt her face return to it's normal color. Smiling at the ladies gathering she couldn't help but feel a flutter of nerves as she thought of the coming day, the other ladies, many of them were accustomed to being in the center of attention at large gathering, She herself not so much. Perhaps she'd ask Taarna if she'd brought her herbs case. Like a fool Kazzia had left her own chests at home. She lay her hand against her abdomen, bowed her head, and prayed that she did nothing to embarrass her family. She straightened her spin, dropped her shoulders back, and smiled brightly at the ladies gathering. To keep her hands busy she pulled her embroidery hoop from her purse, it would keep her hands busy until such a time as she was directed to her next task.

Noro could practically feel the two women staring at him, as though their gazes were boring holes into his clothes. He looked over in their direction and offered a friendly wave and a warm smile.

Taarna saw that the blonde gentleman down below was looking up at Kazzia and her. She suppressed an urge to giggle as he waved at them. "Ah!" she exclaimed, smiling, to Kaz. "See, the mysterious gentleman has spied us! Let us wave back at him!" She leaned out the window a bit, offering a polite wave as greeting, even as Kaz waved then stepped back. Kaz might be a bit shy, but Taarna was not!

As she leaned out the window to wave, she could see further activity and more people milling about. "Ah, the gentlemen must be outside waiting on His Majesty," she remarked to Kazzia. "But I see others as well...probably involved in the wedding in some capacity, I'd imagine. I think it's probably taking quite a lot of people to make this event happen."

Moving away from the window, she noticed that Kaz still seemed a bit nervous. "Are you feeling well? Is there aught I can do to help, my friend?"

Lady Lavea announced then that it was time for Princess Aggnes' bath. Turning to Lavea, she asked, "Are we to assist with the bath, or should we retire to our chambers and ready ourselves for the wedding at this time?"

She was not really sure how many bridesmaids Aggnes would want present with her at the bath. Were it her, the number would be zero. Then again, this was a royal bath, and Taarna had not a clue what occurred at such an occasion!

...Out in the courtyard...
A certain large fellow quietly re-enters the area, shrouded for the moment in a dark cloak, leading a white mare of probably Moorish lines. The animal had been groomed to within an inch of her life, coat brushed til she shone, hooves cared for and oiled, mane and tail trimmed neatly though still long and flowing. The tack buckled onto the mare shone with a certain warmth of well oiled and cared for leather, even in the soft light of morning. Spotting a young stable hand not too far from the tents that were his current destination, our large friend beckons the lad, hands him a fat silver coin, and instructs the lad to care for his mount until it is time.

That done, our neighbor enters the tents, and quietly asks after a portion of the morning meal being offered. This in hand, James moves to a spot near the end of one bench, and sits. Noticing Bishop Gawain, the young Captain nods cordially in greeting, and gestures to his side in invitation for that worthy to join him at breakfast. Y' Grace, twould be a fine thing tae be privileged tae break fast wi' ye. Come sit, if yer of a mind.

All the while, our friend tries hard not to get anything on himself, and ignores the hints of scarlet and bright gold trim that keep peeking out from his cloak.

Llyres
"Who wants to wake up with half the bed gone cold?" Llyres frowned and tried to settle deeper into the bed, which has just been deserted by her husband, but to no avail. Instead, she slipped on a robe to help Robin dress since he had been called to the Tower to share breakfast as a groomsman.
"I'll understand if you cannot join us for the Parade, King's need more assistance than normal on such days, and Grooms need more attention than Kings," she laughed lightly, nodding with satisfaction at how handsome her husband looked.

After he'd left the rooms, she called for an attendant for her own light breakfast and sent a messenger to the stables. A benefit of Robin's post at the Embassy was the occasional use of a visiting ambassador's suite, which allowed some peace away from the bustle of an Inn. Looking at the assortment of clothing that she had brought, her gown, her robes of the Garter, and her Devon Navy Admiral's uniform, she simply shock her head and wondered how to piece the garments together sensibly.

Finally fed and dressed, she arrived at the courtyard where the parade would assemble. Casting about she noted Nap of the Devon Guard standing off to a side, and went to join him. "Hello, Nap, how are you faring? Robin's off at the Tower already so I thought I'd come here early to watch the crowd gather. Seems I'm not the only one who had that in mind."

Sythe
Sythe seemed to be the last of the groomsmen to arrive, as he had checked in with the Royal Guard before making his way. He was glad to have received the invitation, and as he approached the other groomsmen and King Cullan, he gave each of them a friendly smile. He had also heard something about breakfast, but would wait for the King himself before indulging his hunger.

He was most familiar with Sir Joels Joe whom he knew from the Order of St. Georges. Lord Robin he had seen present within several national offices, and he only knew Lord Galrador as being a candidate to represent Mercia on the King's privy council. King Cullan he had been spending much time with on the roads and in taverns, and believed that extra ale would be beneficial for after the coronation.

He gave a bow to the King upon his approach. Sythe Morgan, Groomsman and Royal Guard at your service.
