(ORP) Royal Parade & Coronation of King Cullan Holifard

Taliesin1017
Tali pulled the Devon dragon off to the side as he was instructed, having finished his song once more and untying the rope once the float was stationary. Turning, he reached up to help Hazel climb back out of the dragon's mouth so they could watch the wedding.

He had scarcely helped her feet touch the ground again when he heard the commotion, and whirled to see the dragon attack. Blue eyes widened as he watched the Princess vanquish the dragon, and he clapped and cheered with the rest. Turning to Hazel with a wide, sunny grin, he exclaimed, "This is amazing, Hazel!"

The song caught his attention and he turned to listen to the beautiful song. It was something he'd not heard before, and he closed his eyes while the group sang, to listen intently and remember the tune for later.

Cullan
His nerves and stomach were already shot. With her little 'spectacle', though, his temper was growing in full order. Cullan's jaw was already tight, but he held his tongue.

The dress was beautiful - far better than he could imagine. He owed Jasmine more than he knew. Well. He was King...He could probably rustle up something or another.

He smiled amicably to Aggnes...she could be chided later. It was her wedding, too - he didn't want to ruin it. Apparently she couldn't show the same consideration.

"Good day ta ya too..." he growled softly, gritting his teeth. She ignored him, though, and instead began ordering. That was the last straw. His nostrils flared as he tried to keep his voice steady. "woman..."He growled, then glared at Aleks, who called some type of order in his shepherd's gibberish. He'd had enough. "I swear..." his voice shook, but he kept it low, so as not to be overheard. "if either 'a ya want ta keep yer heads fer yer weddings, ye'll keep th' damned chairs out 'it!"

He was King, damn it. He would not attend his own coronation as an invalid. He needed to inspire confidence, not pity. He shot a glare to Aggnes, his eyes hard, his voice cold. "unlike some, I'll have taste an' decorum fer my coronation."

Lark
She settled into a waiting pose more military than ladylike, despite her dress, and close enough to catch the glares, if not the meat of the whispers. When the wouldbe couple began to bicker over chairs, she rolled her eyes.

Images of extra large buckets fled through her mind, but she smothered most of it, only muttering, "For pity's sake everyone knows you're a proud and stubborn fool. You don't have to prove it in public. Either sit down, or finish that flask. Or both. It's not like your cane's invisible."

She kept her voice quiet, but just as cold as his. "You will, if you can still stand up for it. No choice of a chair, there. My wedding gets second priority, and I at least realise it."

Alunbier
It had been a terrifying journey down to London with Tahsa, in the highly expensive carriage that Alun had managed to hire. The driver being anything but trustworthy. He had declared after the outset of the journey that his previously stated charges were for the carriage only, and that he wanted paying personally as well, and by the hour.
This had resulted in him continuously slowing down to expand his final bill. It wasn't long before Alun had realized his cheating ploy and had given the man a nasty earache, bellowing into his ear to get a move on or else.

After finally arriving, Tahsa had been the first to jump off the carriage, hastily leaving to join the others with the dragon from Mercia, and had arranged to meet Alun at the steps of Westminster abbey later. He had stood and watched the wonderful procession, the different county dragons were indeed a spectacle.
He eventually ended up at Westminster just in time to see the royal cortege off into the distance, and the royal guard escorting them with all the regalia fitting for such an occasion.

Alun stood on the topmost step now eagerly craning his neck looking for Tahsa. His heart was beating with anxiety in case he should miss her, but then spared, he spotted her in her gorgeous red gown, her hair flaring out behind her in the breeze as she seemed to be doing the same worrying, looking about her as she moved.

Tahsa!!! I'm here darling. He shouted, frantically waving his arms about like a windmill.

It was Cornish...and Kristin. How long had it been since he'd seen either one? A party...he couldn't remember when or for what, but that had been the last time. And he had told Cornish that soon he would be down for a visit in Salisbury.

He walked up to them and took Cornish's hand, giving it a good shake, "How are you, Old Friend. It's been a while." He took Kristin's hand and bowed over it, "Your Lady is looking lovelier than ever. I sometimes wonder just what it is about you that keeps her with you," Drest said, chuckling.

Drest looked at the crowd and spotted a clock, "Looks like it's time. We probably should find seats inside. Do you mind if I sit with the two of you?"

Taking back the flaks he had handed to the King, he shook it a little to feel if there was still anything left. He noticed the King had taken a few goods sips from the whisky, though there was still some left. He hoped the strong liquor would keep the King going, at least for a while again. Placing the flask back on his belt, he suddenly looked up as he heard a lot of turmoil in front the of the Abbey. Seeying the Westmorland dragon attack the Queen and her entourage, he was startled at first, but couldn't surpress a faint smile after a bit. He had to admit, it was a nice touch and it sure looked great for the crowd.

As the dragon was defeated, he watched as the Queen went up the stairs. What happened next however, was something he didn't expect. If he didn't know any better he thought the King and Queen we're actually arguing at their own wedding. Not sure what to make of it, he just silently stood to the side of the King, keeping up apperances with a faint smile on his face.

Saira, conscious of her role as the princess' aide in this, was standing behind Aggnes but close enough to be able to whisper loud enough for groom to hear, her back to the crowd who would therefore not know she spoke.

"What do ye think will look less regal, Majesty? Ye both taking a seat for the boring bits, or ye passing out of pain and falling backwards down these steps to crack yer head open at the foot? Yer bride cares for yer health, comfort and safety, and ye care for yer pride over being sensible. Ye are to be King. Ye belong to England and must take care of her possession. Don't make me have to catch ye...ye look heavy."

Kazzia_llewellynn
Kazzia couldn't help but smile at Cullan's face as they parted. She knew that look, it was barely concealed shock, but when the two began to fuss over chair she bit the inside of her cheek and tucked her hand into her skirts. For Jah's sake, she thought. They've got to learn to argue while smiling sweetly. It'll save them much trouble. She wished the King knew that the chair made him look like he had more sense, not that he was weak. For England needed badly common sense, Jah knew she had enough soldiers. She herself could wield her weapons if it came to that, but to keep a sensible head and lead was much rarer a trait. She, herself, would have handled this a bit differently, but then she'd learned quickly with her brothers, sometimes you had to play your cards carefully. She'd have simply said the gown was heavy, the day was warm and could they sit, for if not she was afraid she'd embarrass herself and faint or some silly thing. No man had ever argued with making a lady feel safer. It was something in the training of chivalry they learned. Even the most arguable of men would run for a chair, and if she requested sit beside her so she didn't feel foolish. She was not above looking foolish to save a friends pain. Still it was hard game to play, but when you are not imposing you had to learn other ways to gain what you needed. Skillful acting was a hard trait to pull off, and using it rare enough not to be caught was harder. Still, common sense prevailed often and though it's holding was rare it wasn't unheard of. She knew some who held it, she hoped Cullan would be one. Still it was not her place to say anything and she held her tongue. She could understand him wanting to stand, it just broke her heart to think of someone in pain, enduring it for public opinion, too often that changed with the wind. She bowed her head slightly and said a prayer for the couple, looking to Taarna when she was done with a smile. If nothing else this would be an eventful reign.

The King and Aggnes had been talking while Parson Jones got the chairs. They continued talking during the greeting and silence. He leaned in closer to speak with them.
"Excuse me, Your Majesty and Your Highness, but I'd be much obliged if you could make up your minds as to whether or not you wished to stand or sit for the ceremony."

He motioned to Parson Jones to do something to fill the silence as they made up their minds. The Parson got the message and got some of the choir to sing a new piece that some London composer had just recently published. Aleks hoped that it would fill the time, enough for them to sit or stand.

Daisy chuckled softly witnessing the battle of wills before her. They made an amusing couple, that’s for sure. She shifted a bit impatiently as Corsaira stepped forward. Smiling charmingly for the crowds, Daisy tried to murmur discreetly, “Well, the King does have some fine, strapping groomsmen should he require assistance during the proceedings…” Her gaze lingered a bit too long over the gentlemen as she contemplated whether or not their duties extended to the Princess’s maids.

"I said..." he growled softly "no chair." Cullan turned to glare at the parson. Hopefully he would get the gist."th' King 'a England can stand, no matter what his need." he grunted, doing his best to keep his features calm. Nodding his head toward the doors of the Abbey, he huffed "I'll sit soon enough..." He would not show weakness. He could not be an old man, not when he was about to be married. The priests called pride a sin, but sometimes it was all a man had. He took a deep breath, doing his best to smile "Bishop. Please continue, before I decide ta continue th' coronation alone."

Saira nodded. If he thought he could stand for it he should stand. He knew his own body best. But she discreetly readied herself for the catch, just in case.

Her voice stayed quiet, even now: there was no hiding that something was being said, but no need to let the audience know what. "Right. His Majesty has been given needful advice, his Majesty has chosen to ignore it, and we will just have to work around the consequences."
She thought back to when Darien had done something similar - at least this was a failing due to strength and pride, not weakness and dishonour.
"Let's get this over with, and drink what's in Lark's flask! Nobody's going to think twice about you drinking what they think is whisky."
She took his arm, in a position that might have looked as if he was supporting her, but was in fact the exact opposite. Kazzia had been right, this was going to be a long day, but if she could stay at the helm of a ship in a gale for forty-eight hours, she could do this.

Joels.joe
Joels rides beside the carriage the whole time. It can be as groomsman or Knight of the Crown or both or neither. Simply he is a Knight and the sense of security and protection is engraved in him like that dragon on the goblet from earlier.
He follows the King inside the Abbey after the little display with the dragon outside. He takes his position and waits for any call for assistance or a task to be given to him.
