(ORP) Royal Parade & Coronation of King Cullan Holifard

Corsaira
Saira was closer than most to the royal couple and could hear what was going on. While she was quite impressed that they were amending their vows, which at least indicated a will to keep them rather than just pay lip service to one another, she had noticed the King's distraction. She gave a little cough, partly to remind him that his Heir's bondswoman stood behind him with a very sharp cutlass, and to remind him what she'd sworn not long ago in a pub about what she would do to his family jewels if he abused Aggnes in any way. King or no King.

She rolled her eyes at Aleks over the royal shoulders. Theirs was a simple church, and they hadn't expected this to get... complicated.

Aleks whispered to the two, "Good. Glad we got that settled." Out of the corner of his mouth he mumbled "Rydym eisoes wedi cael digon cyffro am un diwrnod"* to Parson JOnes, who chuckled. As the Parson laughed, Aleks asked couple.

"Do the couple have rings they wish to exchange? If so, please exchange them now."

*We've already had enough excitement for one day

Vigfast
Vigfast had sneaked into the backyard with their own well to wash the ale from his hair and make the best of it ... his old captain's coat had a new owner who would certainly smell better than he did before, the old beggar had seen very pleased ... his thoughts grind still above the symbolism of the ice dragon from Westmorland was it an domestic political marker. He did not know anything about any such event maybe it was just a warning. But he felt some uneasiness about the whole .. the dragon was of course also a symbol of the old faith. Was it then a Jahhaddistic complaint against such ideas and customs. the future queen had in and of itself killed, or at least hurt the dragon through the wave making with something small a wand or similar ... The dragon came in from the north, it can be of any importance. He himself had seen a couple of ice dragons far up along the Norwegian coast and sure they could be troublesome ...
The ceremony was already underway when he came back to the others.
He noted the splendid presentation of the bridal couple, priests and escorts in the top of the stairs. He wondered, however, still why lot of people sneaked in behind the ceremony and into the monastery ... Magnificent isent it, my lady. He whispered in the ear of Lynx

Taarna
Taarna stood behind the Princess and King, watching them exchange their...well, quite unique vows. Oh, dear. There was definitely some interesting staring going on between the bride and the groom, and she hoped at this point that things would not get too heated. Obey? Really? Well, it was in the literature of the church...but my goodness, didn't men know by now that most women had minds of their own and knew how to think...in fact sometimes better than them? Well, she couldn't ever say that to anyone's face, to be certain. But right now she was worried about the two people in front of her just getting through the ceremony.

Rings...oh dear. She wondered what they would look like. Most likely it would be gold, given their status. But more importantly, would the bride wear her ring on the right hand, denoting power, authority and independence; or would would she wear her ring on the left hand, signifying submission and subjugation to her husband?

And who would notice?

She barely had time to relax and already there was the exchanging of the vows already? She was jealous! This was the fastest wedding she'd ever attended... even if it seemed to have an awkward start, granted she hadn't a clue what that was about, perhaps it was silent contemplation time, or whatever they have it called with this church. She relaxed a bit watching the service, having hoped to have made it into a bit of a drinking game, but it seemed that would have to wait for the coronation after all.
She checked to make sure she had a flask on her, and pondered where Elsy was, maybe she was still guarding the baby dragon from anyone who would dare cut into the cake before it was time. Shifting in her seat she kept quiet, wanting to see if anything else was going to happen. So far this had been quite amusing and she was pleased to be attending.

Amethise was delighted to see Galrador amongst the groomsmen, and made a mental note to congratulate him later, should a suitable opportunity arise.

She was standing too far away to discern the cause, but some sort of… earnest exchange, for want of a more accurate description… seemed to take place between the betrothed pair at the start of the wedding ceremony. The service itself, once it got under way, was simple and unlike any she had previously witnessed. She continued to pay close attention, feeling privileged to be present on such a momentous occasion.

"It's alright for some." Demdyke muttered. "Some of us got breakfast instead of being thrown out of the bridesmaids' house, and some of us got to stand at the front of the dragon and see what was going on."

"Look on the bright side," said one of the bystanders, "when everyone calls themselves after their part in the ceremony, such as Chancellor or Priest, I am going to be known as boring Charlie Clerk, but you have a truly unique name."

"Yes," said the newly named Demdyke Dragonsarse,"aren't I the lucky one?"
Cullan
"Ah. Rings...aye..." Cullan slid his thumb under his sleeve, hooking it around a ribbon tied there. He'd done it the day before, because he was afraid of losing something so small in the constant hustle Kingship required. He'd had the pair cast from the last of the hoard he'd found on his land. The goldsmith had done a fantastic job, considering all he had to work on was 'matching wedding rings. Something about love on it...and make it good, the King is going to wear it.'

On the external face it reads 'mon cuer entier' (my whole heart) and on the interior 'mon est desr' (is my desire). Between each phrase was a small flower and leaves. An incredible feat of art, in his opinion. Cullan moved his cane to the hand that held Aggnes', then reached across her for her hand. He slid the ring on her left ring finger. It was said that finger lead right to the heart...but Cullan doubted his future - no, current - wife had one.

Zywiec
"At last"

Zywiec breathes a sigh of relief as Father Kiane and Lady Irish come into her view. With all of that dragon excitement, and Ranger ready to take down the whole thing in defense of the new queen, Zywiec had feared they might not reach the Abbey steps and the wedding at all. A stable boy had been expecting her, and had taken the reins from her hands the moment her feet touched the ground. With Ranger leading the way through the throng, they reach her friends in time for the ring exchange.

"Praise Jah Ranger is smart enough to realize the difference between a paper dragon and a true threat."

Her whispered words are heard by her own ears only, as she steps in between Irish and Kiane. With a quick smile, she gives Irish a brief hug and touches Kiane's arm to let him know she is at his side. The young lad sitting on Kiane's shoulders is so enthralled with it all, she does not make any attempt to distract him.
Aggnes.holifard
Rings? She hadn't even thought of that. With all the rest of the paraphernalia, yet more ornamentation seemed superfluous. But as she raised her newly-decorated left hand to look at it, she realised that he'd slipped something else into the palm, as well. She transferred it to the right, as she looked at the lovely, and rather simple, little ring.
"Thank you," she said quietly. Love phrases, and flowers? Why? He'd been approaching this as a business deal, mostly....
The object she was now holding in her right hand was, of course, a similar ring in a slightly larger size. She reached over, put it on his left ring finger, and somehow forgot to let go. Daft sentimental old git... but he wasn't daft, not at all, and she was missing something here, something important.

In a voice she hadn't realizes she used soft but clear to those close the words You too?slipped out from Jessa's lips. When it occurred to her she said it out loud she quickly made a soft cough to cover her embarrassment. Was that the first thought EVERY man had of the wedding vows? Careful not to speak out loud she mused to herself the words King Cullan had spoke.

Cullan wrote:
"wait..." He muttered, looking at Aggnes, and then the Bishop. " 'ere's th' bit on 'obey'...I didn't hear ya include tha' part."

and then

Quote:
"Obey..." Cullan muttered to insert in get recitation. "women obey th' husband. 'At's th' natural order..."

How many times since their wedding had Edward asked her about that same phrase or commented "You promised to obey". How many times she had to point out that King Darien had not spoke of such as he performed their ceremony back 5 months ago, and how many times her husband would say it was implied or that she just wasn't listening or had forgotten. She made a mental note to tell the bride later if she needed a witness that "Obey" was NOT part of the ceremony, that even though Cullan was king she would gladly step forward for the queen as witness. However, as she thought of her husband her smile warmed for the times they discussed such. For even without those words she would do anything he heart-fully asked of her. And she honestly enjoyed the fun banter between them. Still a little friendly offer to Aggnes could never hurt.

She was pulled shortly from her thoughts when the sun reflected off of the ring , into her eyes. It was beautiful. If there was one thing to be said about their king he hard remarkably good taste.

From her vantage point on the bench by the Abbey stairs Bree could tell there were some tense moments being had, but not quite what the tense moments entailed. Some of the bridesmaids seemed to be trying to hold back laughter and the clergyman actually looked like he was going to giggle. On top of everything the ceremony was going incredibly fast. She had expected the ceremony to go on forever. She idly wondered if the Coronation would be as fast when she spotted Galrador with the groomsman, looking very handsome. She hoped to see him later to say hello.

Perusing the crowd as the ceremony continued she spotted several familiar faces but everyone seemed to have formed groups of friends. She turned her attention back to the wedding, still amazed at her good fortune to be able to witness not only a coronation but a royal wedding as well.

Too bad. The dragon wagons had stopped in front of Westminster Abbey and Mysti was
still on the platform to have a good view at the scene. She saw Lord Cullan, or King, she had
to remind herself, and Bishop Aleksander. Yes, well... she had met him before and knew he
was member of the AWESOME. From the schedule she had learned there would be the
wedding first, then the coronation would surely follow.

They were discussing something, but Mysti was too far away to hear the words. Even as she
squinted the eyes to stare at their lips it was impossible to read what they said. But it was a
curious scene over there. Mysti straightens the dragon cap and sighed. It would soon be
about noon and she had no drink at hand. What a misery! But surely, being present at another
coronation of an English King was some sort of compensation for a sober day. Although...
perhaps not the whole day would remain this way! Mysti followed that thought and suddenly
started to chuckle. "Oops...", she grinned and hoped nobody had noticed.

Saira raised an eyebrow, peering at the hand-holding from where she had moved to one side. She had noted down the vows that had been sworn, and was adding them to the certificate that would be signed once the wedding was completed.

Maybe Aggnes' cold heart was thawing a bit. As she'd said earlier, they didn't have to get married. Cullan would doubtless have been happy to sow his royal oats about the place without a Queen getting in the way, so why marry? In the same way Aggnes was convinced she was missing something, Saira was wondering what Cullan wanted. Who knows? Maybe he did just want someone to share it all with. Properly share it all.

She sighed, and bent down to her careful writing on the parchment of the marriage certificate.

It was getting harder to contain her amusement and the threat of laughter from bubbling forth. Her faithful father? Who was this person? Daisy’s only recourse was to bite down on her tongue — a tad too viciously, it turns out — which provoked a slight whimper of pain and tears to spring to her eyes. Perhaps onlookers would mistake her for expressing familiar wedding sentiment?

Cullan wrote:

There was the man she’d grown to admire! But it was curious for all his talk of the ‘natural order of things’ how he himself was something of a lecherous philanderer. His comments reminded her again of how little respect she had for the institution of marriage. Hell would freeze over the day she walked down the aisle with promises to "obey" her betrothed.
