(ORP) Royal Parade & Coronation of King Cullan Holifard

Pagan
"LONG LIVE THE KING! LONG LIVE KING CULLAN!"

Stirred awake by the loud cheering, Pagan bounced up and joined the chorus of cheering and wooing, only louder than anyone else. It had been a lovely ceremony (and she had not nodded off during it) but she was glad it was over. Not because there had been anything wrong with it, far from it - as far as ceremonies go, it had been grade A stuff, but Pagan really wasn't a ceremony person. No, what she really had been looking forward to was the feast that came after. And if she wasn't mistaken, there was going to be another ceremony before the feast (wasn't there?), one she had not been invited to, so she would have plenty of time to return to her inn and slip into something a bit more ladylike than her ale-soaked naval outfit and be back, prim and prissy, for the gorge fest! As far as Pagan was concerned, the heavy duty of the day was over and done with and the party could begin.

Kings died. All kings died. It wasn't as if yelling Long Live made them live any longer.

She fished out her second flask, raised it to the pair and called, "King Cullan!"

Edwardus
With the call of Long "Live the King", he wondered if they had to stand up. His questions were answered when the others started to stand up. He stood up with them. He wondered to himself. Has the ceremony ended? It was truly a magnificent ceremony and now the man he had met once in the taverns in Kendal had been crowned King.

He remembered the moulding of the man's face in his knapsack. He wondered whether he could fetch a handsome price for it. But then, it was one of only four mouldings he had made with some friends while the man was sound asleep in the taverns. He looked around nervously. Would this cost him his head if the King ever found out?

His thoughts were interrupted when the crowd started chanting, Long live the King, in unison, though he did hear some other variants of the chant. He chanted the phrase along with the others.

Tali had stayed in the back of the church, watching the procession and coronation in awe, with wide eyes as he took in all the tradition and ornate objects. He listened carefully to the symbolism of each item, eager to learn of the process, even as he practically vibrated with excitement at even being here to witness this. When the king was crowned, and everyone shouted out, the blonde jumped in surprise, not having expected the announcement, and called out with others, though a bit belatedly, "Long live the King! Long live King Cullan!" assuming that was what he should be doing.

Looking at Hazel, he grinned to see that she was also enjoying herself, and he wondered what else was left, and when they would have to head to the feast. He was rather eager to play, but he wouldn't miss the chance to see all of this for anything either. He had promised Mrs. Tenshi and Miss Miaka that he'd tell them everything when he got back, and he would certainly have a story to tell!

Eira
Eira heard Aggnes' emphasis as she spoke, and smirked slightly, hoping the Princess of Wales didn't have, as many believed, eyes in the back of her head.

For some unearthly reason the words "Live long and prosper" resonated in her mind, but she ignored them, her voice joining that of the many in calling "Long live The King. Long live King Cullan."

It looked as if the crowd would happily carry on cheering Cullan for the next hour or so - with him standing in front of them. Time to move on. She swept forward - you couldn't really use any other verb when wearing that dress - and stood in front of the King, pausing as the pages removed the various objects from his hands and lined up nearby, holding them. "You sit, then I kneel," she said softly. "Should be easier behind this cloth-of-gold canopy I'm wearing."

More and more fascinating objects were being presented to the King. Bree craned her neck a bit, figuring that standing up in the pew to get a better look just wouldn't be proper. She took a moment to wonder where in heaven Tyg had seen a giant pink hat decorated with peacock feathers and purple beads. Such as that would be a sight to behold! Good grief, I hope I'm never seen in a monstrosity of a hat unless it's for charity or some other good cause, she whispered.

Bree thought that admitting women were complicated was like admitting the sky was blue. It just was. You know, men aren't so easy to figure out, either. First they want you, then they don't when someone they consider better catches their fancy. I suppose one just hopes for the best in finding their match.

He simply grinned upon hearing her comments on fashion, and turned his eyes towards the king to be once again "Nah, I'd say we're quite easy to understand by comparison, for instance what you described can be explained by the one trait most men share, that's an extremely short attention span..." he paused for a moment thinking the matter through "Though I admit that's not much of an excuse for it is more of a fact. So I'd guess that's why women spend so much time shopping for outrageous outfits?" he concluded just in time as the bishop placed the crown upon Cullon's head. He too rose to his feet and added his voice to the cacophonous chorus "Long live the king ! Long live England!"

Attention deficit is it? Well, that would explain a lot but not everything I suppose... Bree wondered about it for a moment and figured it wasn't worth dwelling upon. She then began to worry that he thought her outfit was outrageous. She couldn't do anything about that either so remained quiet. She watched as the Queen stood in front of the King and wondered what the next part of the ceremony would be like. She had seen some of the nobility leave already and thought she wouldn't want to risk the displeasure of the King and Queen by doing so if her stomach started rumbling.

Kalens
Kalens with his part done arose and while the cheering went on went to the family pew. He knew the abbey fairly well and took a way so as not to disrupt the proceedings. Arriving he sat near his guests and took Miki's hand into his own.
He whispered, just loud enough for Miki, Melanie and Applus to hear, Now the newly crowned King invests upon Queen Aggnes her position as Princess of Wales and his heir. It is a brief ceremony then on to the ball.

Cullan
Cullan handed off the items with a grunt of relief. Not that he didn't mind the trappings of office - they were pretty....but he was much happier juggling egos than juggling priceless treasures. He grinned as his wife stood before him. Before he could say anything, though, she began making commands. His lip quivered, but he kept his face calm "You kneel." he growled "I'll sit if I feel like it."

"Altering the order of ceremony again?" Well, if he wanted to change things badly enough to refuse the offer of help.... this should be interesting. She sank to one knee on the top step in front of him, trying to stay as upright as possible so he still had some chance of reaching down to put the various adornments on her without too much undignified bending.

Behind her, presumably, maids were sorting out her train. She ignored them. If Cullan was altering things from the script, she wanted to listen very carefully to exactly what he said.

Cullan
Cullan smirked as she dropped down to her knees. He may not have gotten an 'obey' out of her in their wedding, but seeing her on her knees was...satisfying.Turning his attention from her, he announced to the crowd "I, His Royal Majesty, King Cullan Holifard, by the Grace of the Kingdom of England, say to all Lords, Spiritual and Temporal and all other Our Subjects whatsoever to whom these Presents shall come Greeting: Know Ye that We have made and created and by these, Our Letters, do make and create Our Heir, Aggnes Holifard, as the Princess of Wales, Heir to the Throne of England."

The words came out to a tempo, though evenly toned. He'd spent the last few days putting his speeches to song, to make sure he could remember it all. "And to the same, Our Heir, Aggnes Holifard, We do give, grant, and confirm the name, style, title, dignity and honour of the same Principality and she, Our Heir, as has been accustomed. We do ennoble and invest with the said Principality by gifting her with a Sword, by putting a Coronet on her head and a Gold ring on her finger, and also by delivering a Gold Rod" he stumbled slightly, trying to cover his snicker. "-into her hand, that she may preside over England upon Our Death, to direct and defend the realm. In Witness, whereof We have caused these, Our Letters, to be made Patent; this the 23rd day of April in the year of Our Lord Jah 1463."[/i]
