The Colony of Bath

-fromENAbrianna
Abri opens the door to greet Gregarious.

“Good morning Sir Greg,… I pray this morning finds you well?” Gregarious reaches around and holds up the small piglet for Abri to see.
“Oh Greg,….he is ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE!! Are you sure that I might keep him? He is so small,… oh Greg!” As anxious as a child, Abri gently takes the baby from him, and offers a friendly hug to Greg for his kindness, being careful not to squash the little piglet.

Bailey sits quietly at her feet, eyes fixed on the new little addition to the family. Abri leans over with the little piglet, to introduce Bailey to Parceval. The little piglet lets out a squeal, and Baileys ears perk up, and he looks to Abri with concerned eyes. She sets the piglet down beside Bailey, and it quickly hovers close to him, scared of his new surroundings. Bailey gently lies down, and allows the little baby to huddle close.

“Bailey will be fine with him here,…he is a gentle giant, and will allow no harm to come to him while we are gone. Oh Greg, he is so adorable, and Bailey will appreciate having his company at times such as this, when I choose to leave him home. I cannot thank you enough. I will see that he has nothing but the best in care and attention.”

Abri turns to Gregarious and reaches for her basket of fruit. “Shall we be on our way?”

She follows him closely, as the sun was just beginning to rise and it was still dark along the path. With Abri’s tendency to babble mindlessly, there was so much conversation between them both that the long walk passed quickly. Before she realized, Greg had slowed their pace, and held his hand on a tree branch, waiting for Abri to step closer. As she approached, he lowered the branch, and Abri looked past.

“Oh Greg. It is positively breathtaking!” The sun was just appearing over the horizon, illuminating the morning dew on the plush, green grass of the glen. She saw a mound of earth, and the stone at its crest held rolling drops of water as the sun warmed the frost upon it. For several moments, she just stood there, without words.

“Has she yet seen this, or do you mean to have her wait for the ceremony? It is a perfect setting for such a blessed event Greg. I can only imagine how she will feel upon your wedding day,… I see visions of the fairy tale princess. It is such a natural setting, I cannot think of any place on earth more suitable.”

Abri continues to stand there, falling once again into a silent stare.

You know what. In my excitement of finally finding it, of the proposal, and you're arrival, I think I've forgotten to bring my dear Sierra up here.

It was almost unbelievable, no one had seen a human turn this red before.

It is exquisit though isn't it.

There is also a story to this place but I will tell you that later. Perhaps in one of our letters.

It was a pleasant and short trip back to town as the sun rose. The morning came strong and vibrant. Warming the crisp pre-dawn air rapidly.

Well m'lady I think I will show you the towns newest treasure next.

As they turned a corner the statue came into view.

Elvira wandered out into the shade of the great forrest that surounded Bath, drifting down the path as her mind wandered on no set way. She did not see the root in the deep brown fallen leaves and was only aware that she was falling, slipping and hurling down the slope, untill everything went blank as lights shot around her eyes. No pain, just the lights, then she was still.

(OCC: Take it from there. I'm gone. This was a VERY hard decision but it is made. )
Rosalynn
Flustered by all the commotion going on in Rhi's home by the influx of people, Rosalynn returns to the kitchen and after finishing the food on her plate, she inquires of Sparhawk if he'd care to go for a walk. When he replies in the affirmative, she quickly clears and cleans the dishes, dons her cape for warmth, and they head off away from the house.

Much desiring the majesty of the tall trees of the forest, she leads the way heading for the glen she knows to be in the center. Sighing happily in appreciation of the silence and beauty surrounding her, her gaze comes to rest on an area of the path they are on where the foliage looks mangled. Curiosity gets the best of her and she goes to investigate the area where the other path joins in with the one they travel.

"What in the world has happened here?" she asks of noone in particular. Reaching the area where the paths meld and continue down the slope as one, Rosalynn gasps in surprise seeing a crumpled form at the foot of the path. Wasting no time, she says hurriedly to Sparhawk, "Someone is hurt!! We must hurry! Come!"

Rushing down the slope and trying to keep her awkward balance, they approach the person lying so still at the bottom of the slope. Rosalynn moans softly in horror as she recognizes Elvira. "Oh no! It's Elvira!! Quck Spar! Let's get her back to Rhi's home as she appears to be injured badly and Rhi will know what to do I'm sure, I hope, oh dear!" Rosalynn rambles on as she tries to figure out what has happened. Sparhawk gently gathers Elvira up in his arms and they head back to Rhi's home.

Once they arrive, there is a commotion that arises as they enter with the unconscious Elvira in Sparhawk's arms. Rosalynn brushes everyone else and their questions aside for the moment and directs him to the room she is using for him to lay Elvira down, then she goes in search of Rhi.

A messenger arrived late that afternoon and delivered a letter for Sierra. She pressed a few pence into the messenger’s hand and thanked him. As he rode away, Sierra began to examine the outside before breaking the seal. Sierra could recognize her mother’s handwriting anywhere, and the smell of Lady Catherine’s perfume still lingered on the paper. Sierra closed her eyes and breathed in the sweet scent. It brought visions of her mother when Sierra was a child. She loved to brush her mother’s hair. It was long and raven black just like hers.

Many said Sierra was the spitting image of her mother. They had the same eyes that looked like the sea after a storm, the long graceful neck, and a smile that was often said to be contagious. Sierra could still see her mother sitting at her mirror getting ready for a party. Her hair would hang down her back as she finished with her makeup and chose her jewelry. Those little hands would gently caress and brush her mother’s hair. She would ask her mother when she would be allowed to wear jewelry and makeup. It seemed like yesterday when she was that little girl staring into the eyes of her loving mother.

Sierra gently broke the seal on the letter and began reading the familiar script:

Quote:
My dear daughter,

It was such a relief to hear from you finally! We have all been worried since you left us. Everything here is much as it was before. Your brother joined the troops much to my dismay. He writes often and assures us of his safety. Your sister is expecting! I am to be a grandmother this spring! I know you will be very happy for her.

Asa asks of you often and I did not have the heart to tell him when you communicated in your letter to me. I think this is something you must do yourself. Technically, you are still betrothed to him. You know we would have to make a formal agreement to break it. He has not requested that we do so as of yet. He still wishes for you to be his wife. This must be settled soon and with delicacy. I fear the Sutherland family will not take a marriage rejection well.

Hurry home to us, dear Sierra. I long to meet your Gregarious, and to hold you once more. We hope to see you within a month’s time. Perhaps you will stay with us for Christmas? Take the greatest care and travel safely, my dear!

Your ever loving Mother

Sierra folded the letter back up and frowned. Something was not right. There was no mention of her father. And why was she speaking so much of Asa when she knew about Gregarious? Something was not right. She and Gregarious still needed to make the trip though, despite her misgivings. What awaited them in Scotland? Only time would tell now.

"Oh dear..."

Rhi's stomach dropped to her knees as Rosa lead her into the parlor. Upon the couch, painfully pale, lay Elvira. Her body looked painfully broken...

Without wasting a moment, Rhiannon licked her palm and held it up to Elvira's face. No breath.

She was gone.

Gregarious
It had been a good day so far. Touring the town. A gift offered and wonderously received. But it was time to check in on his love.

I've not seen my Sierra all day, perhaps she is at home. Knocking on the door he is let in by a thoguhtful looking Lady Sierrajane.

What is it?

She hands a letter to him. As he reads it he begins to feel a vague feeling of apprehension.

"So? What do you think of this then?" Lady Sierrajane doen't answer immediately.

"Ok here's how I see it. I think your father was standing over your mother as this letter was penned. I possbly Asa's father as well. They are powerful men. Your father is not giong to let you go, nor the advanages your marrage to Asa will bring that easily. Asa's father will not accept the insult that your running represents. They want you back and me gone."

"Now if that be true, how safe is your mother? If it becomes appearant to your father that this ruse has not worked will he harm her? Would the treat of harm force you to return?"

Lady Sierra's looks inconsolable at the meer suggestion.

"Ok so that is my answer then. Don't worry we wont let that happen my love."

Lady Sierra cries, "I don't know what we should do. I feel like I can't ignore my mother but I also can't ignore that there is something definitely wrong."

"Your brother, he's the key. You cannot ask your mother she is being watched she told you he's in the army, she was telling you he got away."

Lady Sierrjane say, "But I don't know where to find him."

"Perhaps you should write back to your mother saying your coming and asking who your brother is serving with. We could use that to track him? If we know who he serves with perhaps I can track that unit down then we can contact your brother. Eventually we will have to go there but it would be better if you had an ally waiting your arrival."

It is obviously a trap. But the first step to disarming one is to know it is there. together they set about writting a reply to Lady Sierrajanes mother....

Abri returns home from her long day. It was so nice of Gregarious to take the time to show her the town. They had stopped at the statue of Lady Eulaliya which Abri had heard so much of. It was a sight that left her without words. A most humbling moment. Abri will be leaving Bath soon to make her final journey to Barnstaple, and she is ever thankful to Greg for giving her the opportunity to see this before she leaves.

After spending a short time there, they decided that they should probably be returning, as Greg needed to check in with Sierrajane. Abri felt awful,…with so much going on, she knew Greg had much to do, and did not need to be spending the time running about the town. She must do something to show her appreciation to Gregarious and Lady Sierrajane for the interruption she has caused.

Abri opens the door to an anxiously awaiting Bailey, followed closely by a small, timid little Parce. She bends over and gives Bailey a great hug, and picks up the little piglet. “You are very warm little one,….were you snuggling with Bailey while I was gone? You are also quite wet,… Bailey! Were you cleaning the baby?” Bailey looks up at Abri and wags his tail. She wraps the little one in her skirt and gently dries his fuzzy coat, and sets him down.

“Time for lunch boys. Mama still has much to do today, we should be leaving soon for Barnstaple.”

Since Sierra could do think of nothing but write a letter, she set about to do it immediately. Greg and she sat together at the dining table and drafted it together.

“We mustn’t let on that we suspect anything amiss.”

“But what if my mother specifically wrote it that way to warn me? I do not want her to worry thinking I am walking into the situation blindly.”

“She may very well have tried to warn you in her manner of writing, but there is little we can do to include her in our plan. As we said, she is obviously being watched. I’m sure she is an intelligent woman and will be able to figure our thoughts based on our inquiry about your brother.”

“Well, if she could figure it out, then couldn’t everyone else?”

“Aye, it is possible. We won’t be able to be completely secretive but we need to do our best.”

Sierra and Gregarious set to work writing a letter of reply to Lady Catherine. Sierra decided that she would ask the whereabouts of her brother so she could personally invite him to meet Gregarious. Greg agreed that this would be the best they could do. The letter was penned, sealed, and placed in the hands of a messenger.

Tears streamed down Sierra’s face as she watched the messenger ride away with the letter.

“Father God, please give this messenger wings of flight and guide him to Scotland. I pray your angels would surround my mother and brother and keep them safe till I may be with them.”

The wind picked up and tossed Sierra’s raven locks like waves on a darkened ocean. Her glistening eyes traveled upward and watched as the wind brought her prayers to heaven.
Rosalynn
Having found Rhi and leading her into the parlor where Elvira is lying on the couch, Rosalynn watches anxiously while Rhi checks for breath. Seeing the expression on Rhi's face, Rosalynn shakes her head vigorously not wanting to believe the truth. Tears start to flow as she softly wails as not only is Elvira gone, but so too is the babe she had so recently found she carried.

"No! No! Not this way! She can't be gone?" Rosalynn sobs and turns away. Her own twins take that moment to protest their confinement in her womb by moving vigorously causing her further upset. Feeling blindly before her, she finds a chair and sits quickly before she falls. Once she is in control of herself again, she looks to Sparhawk and tells him, "Her family needs to be notified, Spar, Gregarious will know how to reach them."
Gregarious
Well me piggies how are we today.

My goodness it been busy. Lady Abrianna, you remember Lady Abrianna don't you, well she is on her way to her next destination. It was wonderous to see her again. The look on her face when I asked her to stand for me at my wedding, it will go to my grave with me.

MY Sierra received a letter from her mother today. It seems suspicious to me, but I think we have little choice but to go to Scotland some time soon. Don't you worry though my friends I'll ensure you're well taken care of while I'm away.

And...uhm....interesting happenings at the Tavern last night. Hum *looks around and lowers his voice* people were dancing around in their birthday suits. NO! IT's TRUE. I SWEAR!

Well back to the Militia, an honest days work for an honest days pay.

Eat my friends, grow my pets, make me proud
