The Colony of Bath

-fromENDarell
No work at mine today ! This morning when awaking, Darell was nervous ! "No ! I don't want to go to the mine today ! No way ! I want to be outside !" It is the record Darell had in his mind all the morning ! So instead of taking the way of the mine, he decided to go to see to the town hall the job announcements ! He tried the first he saw, but no luck, the boss didn't want of him ! "You don't have the characteristics I want !", he told to Darell ! No problem ! Darell tried another one and this time it was the good one ! Darell worked all the day in a vegetable field ! What a pleasure to work outside in the sun and the wind ! Now, as every evening, Darell is coming back home at the beginning of the night ! He will not forget to wish a good night to his cow ! Again a great day, today !

Jill finished sweeping and looked around her. The finishing touches were coming together, and the house was starting to look like a home. Various wedding gifts were placed decoratively on shelves or walls, and Sierra's plaque had a place of honor by the door.

It really looks nice. And despite having two people in one house, his place was so much bigger than mine that we still have extra room! Perhaps we'll fill that up some day... Oooooooh wouldn't he faint..

She giggled to herself at the thought. A knock at the door yielded a messenger with a note from her brother. She blushed reading it.

How nice of him to write in support! I didn't want to make a big deal out of running. But it is very kind of him!

She set the letter aside to answer later and went to the hearth to stir the stew. Laying out fresh bread and greens, her mind strayed to the pleasantries of the evening to come.

I wonder where Spar is? He'd promised me an evening of fun. I hope he gets home soon or the stew will be cooked to a sludge...

I came through my door into the house taking off my boots right away. Oh they were so cold. I looked up and around the housing noticing everything around the house. I smiled at how Jill worked fast making herself at home. I then went to the fire and put my feet near it. I looked up and saw Jill in the kitchen cooking. Wow what a woman I thought to myself.

Hi darlin, how ya doin tonight? I like what ya have done to the house. I didna realize how big I had made this house. I guess I have ta make things my size.

I winked at her and started to laugh.

Darell is angry today ! No luck ! He didn't have enough money in order to buy a bucket ! His poor cow "Marguerite" (yes, it's his cow's name) has heavy udder, but he can't milk her (I know Darell personalize his cow a little too much that's why I say her) ! She is mooing of pains ! "What can I do Marguerite, we have no money, be happy to be able to eat !" Darell is sad for her, but he can't do nothing ! It is with these dark thought that Darell went to the vegetable field in order to work ! If only he had a bucket !
This evening when coming back home, he is making a bunch of flowers ! It is for Marguerite ! Maybe it will help her to forget about the pains of her udder !
Again a crime of the poverty ! Hope till Sunday Darell will find money for buying a bucket !

Walking back into town, Noresor finally regrouped himself and decides to become a Statesman or a Marital man, as those help people on a large scale.

He could hear people whispering things like, "Where has HE been?" or "Tch, the freak has returned". From what he could gather from other whispers, Meda had passed away from this world, Jane and Rosalynn are running for Mayor and a new resident by the name of "Darell" has arrived.

"I've heard he has a desire to become "more" as I am trying to do. Maybe he and I could help each other in our mutual quests."

As for the death of Meda, a good friend and most excellent cook, he decided to use her death as a catalyst, to always remember her death to fuel his desire to help others.

"Speaking of bird-related subjects. I wonder if I should become a Lord and make a Crest with an Eagle. That sage from Egypt and another from Greece told of my Astrological sign as Scorpio. Scorpio having 2 other signs, the Eagle and the Snake... 'Twould be a perfect symbol for myself. Hmm......"

Sierra had given her bed up to her mother for the night so she would be comfortable. Her make-shift bed in front of the fire was warm enough but lacked in comfort. A private room for her mother might be in order considering she was set to stay for quite a while. There was an extra room that til this point was sparsely furnished and only used for the occasional sewing project or for storage.

After getting dressed and grooming, she took a short walk down the road to Greg's house. He was usually up early feeding his pigs. She hoped to catch a few minutes with him. It had been so long since they had time just the two of them. Maybe now that things have settle down, they could continue their wedding plans...

She walked up the front steps and knocked on the door.
Gregarious
If that's you Wins I break you're....

Hello m'lady.

Gregarious throws an arm around Sierra's shoulders as they walk around the side of the house. The sun is just cresting the tree line to the east of town. It appears to promise an exquisite winter day.

It's good to have you home. I trust your mother made the trip easily. What is it? You look pensive?

Sierra wrapped her arms around Greg's neck and her pulled her close. They kissed tenderly then held each-- other enjoying the moment. Sierra looked up and their eyes met. They both smiled and Greg kissed the tip of Sierra's nose.

"Now my dear, what seems to be on your mind?"

"Mmmm...just dreaming about when I won't have to walk over to visit you anymore, my love."

"Ahhhh....yes, that will be a very good thing. Then I can have my breakfast in bed every morning while you rub my feet!"

He ducked as he said this and Sierra began to chase him around the yard--both laughing the entire time.

"HEY!"

They both stopped where they were and looked in the direction of the voice. There was Sparhawk, standing on his porch in his skivies starring at the two of them.

"Greg! What the heck you two doing this early in the morning! You woke me and Jill up with all your laughing and playing!"

"Sorry Spar, we were just having a little game of chase. Sierra didn't like the idea of rubbing my feet I think!"

Spar smiled broadly at Greg

"Greg, if you were a smart man, you'd let her catch you...if you know what I mean..."

He winked then walked back into his house. Greg turned to Sierra only to find she had blushed a deep pink at Spar's comment.

"Hmmm...yes there are greater benefits to being married besides just breakfast in bed!"
Rosalynn
Rosalynn arrives home weary to the bone. After paying the sitter and seeing her off, Rosalynn removes her coat and after hanging it up, goes to check on the twins. Tip-toeing over to their cradles, she smiles softly as she gazes down on their cherubic faces, softened further by the rays of light that have escaped from around the curtains drawn across the windows. Leaving the room as quietly as she entered, she heads for the kitchen to fix herself a cup of tea and some toast, and try to wind down some before the twins awaken. A smile dances across her lips as it never fails to amaze her how much Rhoswen and Tanvir look like their father, Sajanzv. Thankfully they didn't inherit her red hair and dusting of freckles across their noses.

Tea ready, she carries her cup and the plate of toast to one of the cushiest chairs available and after setting the dishes on the endtable nearest the chair, she sits down and draws her feet up onto the seat. Making herself as comfortable as possible, she nibbles on the toast and sips the tea and enjoys the peace and quiet while it lasts. She listens for the possible tread of Sajanzv's footsteps on the front porch as a quick cuddle with him before the twins awaken from their nap would be most welcome at the moment, but then she remembers that he had a late meeting to attend, so it would probably be much later before he made it home.

Just as she finished drinking her tea, she hears Rhoswen announce herself awake with a loud belch. Rosalynn sets her cup down in a hurry and laughing, she runs into the room skidding to a halt at the foot of the cradles. She laughs all the harder seeing the expression on Tanvir's face as he stares at his sister as if he too could hardly believe such a loud gas bubble could come from his sister. Scooping the babies up, she carries them into the kitchen. Grabbing several towels on the way, she sets the towels on the table and then after dashing back and forth between the sink, the fire where water was kept steaming, dumping the hot water in the sink first then adding enough cold water to cool it down to bathwater temperature, and the table to be sure the babies didn't tumble off. Once the water is ready, she spreads a thick quilt on the floor nearby and lays Rhoswen down on it and removes Tanvir's clothing. She prepares herself in case there is a need to dodge a sudden fountain as she gently lays him in the water and lays a washcloth across him to deflect any sudden geysers, deftly soaps up another washcloth and quickly washes him head to toe. After rinsing him off, she wraps one of the towels around him and carrying him over to the quilt, she makes quick work of putting a clean nappy on him and then dressing him warmly.

She then carries the dirty water outside and dumps the small tub, rinses it out and once placed back in the sink, she refills it with both hot and cold water. She returns to the quilt for Rhoswen, undresses her quickly and carries her to the tub. Laying her gently in the water, Rosalynn soaps up the cloth and washes Rhoswen head to toe, laughing as the baby wiggles almost out of her grasp. Rinsing the soap off of her, Rosalynn then wraps a towel around Rhoswen and carries her to the quilt. Drying the baby thoroughly, she quickly diapers and dresses Rhoswen in warm clothing. Once Rhoswen is settled next to Tanvir on the quilt, Rosalynn carries the tub of soapy water outside and tosses it into the bushes and lays the tub over the bushes to dry.

Returning quickly indoors, teeth chattering from the cold, Rosalynn glances over at the twins and laughs as she sees them taste-testing each others fingers. She looks surreptitiously around to be sure she is alone with the twins before settling herself comfortably on the quilt. Lowering the top of her gown, she settles the twins in her lap and puts them to feed. She winces as they latch on, suckling vigorously while she silently wonders if her toes will ever stop curling at every onset. Her mind drifts lazily over a multitude of thoughts until she becomes aware of being looked at. She looks around in puzzlement as she was fairly certain noone else was present besides herself and the twins. Then she looks down. It was Tanvir who was looking up at her with a mischievious look in his eyes as he continues to watch her. Chuckling at him, she whispers, "
Didn't your momma ever tell you not to play with your food, munchkin?" Rosalynn laughs and jostles him a little to encourage him to finish nursing. He in turn coos at her and ends up with a milk moustache while blowing little milk bubbles. Seeing he is quite finished for the time being and Rhoswen has finished as well, Rosalynn straightens her legs out and lays them cross-wise across her legs then starts patting their backs. Rhoswen, as has become typical of her, is the first to release the first of a series of gas bubbles. Once both babies are burped to their full-extent, Rosalynn lays them on their tummies and asks, "How about a story, you two?" Climbing to her feet, she stretches her stiff limbs then goes to get the book she'd been writing lately. Settling down on the quilt again with the twins, book in hand, she opens the book in her lap and starts to read aloud:
Quote:
Spot’s Day Out

Having observed her pet human, Rosalynn, leave the house pushing a contraption on wheels, Spot’s mind whirled with the possibilities for the day. She’d long since figured out how to release the clasp holding the gate to the pen shut, so that was the least of her worries. She looked around her, taking in the confines of the pen and her four piglets feeding at the food trough and snorted a piggy-sort of snort as they clambered over each other to get the majority of the remains of their earlier feeding. Spot waited patiently for them to finish and or lose interest in the scant remains before grunting to call them to her.

Spotless, Spotty, Spooky and Slash came running over to see what was up, bumping and nudging each other as they came. The piglets laid down as they reached Spot and listened attentively as they knew, knowing their mother as well as pigs can, that she was cooking up something in the way of an adventure and it didn’t include being within the confines of their pen.

Spot kept a look-out to be sure Rosalynn was well-down the road before she grunted softly to her piglets telling them of the planned outing. She cautioned them to stay closely by her side at all times and run when told to. Spot wasn’t worried about getting caught out by her human, but the partner human she associated with Rosalynn may have plans to make pork chops of her, or heaven help her, put her in for another shearing.

After looking cautiously around to be sure her human was gone and there were no signs of Sajanzv either, Spot lifted up on her hind hooves and nudged the latch holding the gate closed, pushed the gate open and trotted out followed closely by the four piglets. Enjoying their newfound freedom from the pen, the piglets gamboled around Spot’s hooves as she sedately meandered up the road the opposite direction her human took.

With a pig-like chuckle, she watched the antics of her piglets as they made their way along, tripping over each other as they went to examine each new object along the way that they found. A windblown leaf was intensely interesting until the leap of a grasshopper jumping nearby drew their attention to it by jumping onto a rock. Being the bravest of the bunch, Slash crept closer to check the insect out. Spotty and Spooky were right behind him with Spotless bringing up the rear. Being forever hungry it seemed, Slash always looked at the possible edible qualities of things so he leaned as far forward as he dared and his tongue darting out, tried to eat the grasshopped. Before his tongue reached it, the grasshopped sprang into the air and landed on his nose. Startled, Slash tried to see the critter perched on his nose, with no success. Lowering his nose to the ground, he tried to knock the pesky insect off his nose by digging in the dirt and when that failed, he lowered his front quarters to the ground and pawed at his nose with a hoof to dislodge the grasshopper. Having had enough of these strange creatures, the grasshopper leaped skillfully from its precarious perch on Slash’s nose off to the side of the road and disappeared into the brush.

The piglets rejoined Spot as she had maintained her ambling pace up the road while they played with the grasshopper. They next came upon a neighboring wheat field. Spot brightened considerably as she remembered Herrero taking her to a wheat field to find truffles. Last time a mean boy had come out and gotten quite upset that she’d been digging up the ground in her search as apparently the wheat was supposed to be harvested first before digging. Being a one-minded piggy, she didn’t know anything about harvesting wheat, but remembered that she had run squealing in terror from the boy’s loud voice. The thought of possible truffles awaiting them was more than she could resist.

Spot looked at the tall stalks of wheat. She reasoned that they would be near to invisible amongst them, so she turned towards the field and mowing down some of the stalks with her massive girth, she entered the field, her body holding down most of the wheat in her path for the piglets to follow behind. Having made her way to the center of the field, she happily starts digging with her snout into the soft ground. If she’d been a world-wide sort of pig, she would have known that truffles aren’t to be found in wheat fields. In her mind, there was always hope, with her piglets gathered around her, she hoped that the treat wouldn’t be long in being found.

Quiet blankets the field except for the soft, snuffling sounds of the pigs as they dig up the ground in search of the truffles. A sound from afar, a slamming door, reaches Spot’s ears. She abruptly stops her forraging to listen, hears attuned to the direction of the sound. The sound of running booted feet next comes to her and her little round eyes take on a startled expression. The sound is coming in their direction, towards the middle of the field where they are well-hid from the road, carried on a gentle, chill breeze. Spot froze in piggy-style horror, momentarily unsure what to do.

Grunting to her piglets in warning, she did an aboutface and moved back along the smashed-down wheat path she’d created on the way in. Just as they reached the roadside, Spot looked back and saw the disturbance of the wheat headed in the direction of where they had been just recently. Hearing the farmer’s exhasperated wails as he comes upon the destruction they’d created, Spot turns tail and heads further up the road away from the wheat field. As if she is a pig on a mission, she picks up her pace to a fast waddle to put more distance between them and the irrate farmer.

Snout in the air, Spot notices the position of the sun and that it has traveled quite a distance across the sky. Not wanting to risk their hides by being late in returning, Spot grunts once to her piglets, does a piggy u-turn and heads home. She does a fast piggy waddle past the wheat field they’d damaged and increased her pace as they neared their sty. Spot held the gate open while 1…2….3….she looked up the road and there was Slash, trying to pounce on a butterfly. Spot gave a sharp squeal causing Slash to jump to attention and come scurrying over to join his brother and sisters in the pen. Biting the lower bar of the gate, Spot backs up into the pen pulling the gate behind her.

Not long after, feeding time came around once more and all was as it should be in Spot’s pen.

The End

Closing the book softly, Rosalynn sees that the twins have fallen asleep once more, this time holding hands and cuddled close together. Setting the book off to the side, she lies down beside them and lets her eyes close.

Well me piggies how are we today

To many friends gone lately. Now Nicolaa has left England. I know not why, but she is gone, and just after returning to us too?

Spar is firing me again and closing the tavern. A lot of people are unhappy but then it cannot be helped right now. There is a nasty rumour that the powers that be want the tavern closed as a den of iniquity but don't believe that for a moment my pets. The powers that be are the worst of the lot .

Well, my lumber is in place finally and I have started on that project. I'll let you know how it turns out but I will be busy and away working on it a lot the next few months I should think. It should come in handy when I'm done.

Oh! Seems Wins and Tweety are getting married. Did I mention that earlier? Wins had a real problem getting the words out last night.

Well time to check the locks and rattle the windows. An honest days work for an honest days pay.

Eat my friends, grow my pets, make me proud.

Today Darell began his training ! As he is a member of the SAS, he needs to stay in a good physical state ! So, sport and work outside in a field is a good way to increase the strength !
Two days ago, when he joined the Meat Producers Association, he met a very nice girl : Pangea with whom he likes to speak !
Now, as every evening, he will go to wish a good night to "Marguerite", his cow and after he will go to bed ! Again a good day spent !
-fromENDarell
Today, no one has engaged Darell ! No luck ! So, he had to go again in this mine ! In the darkness and the coldness ! "Brrrr !". A good news today ! The cow of Darell grew ! In addition, it is for sure, tomorrow, Darell will be able to buy a bucket and to milk his cow ! Yes ! "Marguerite" will be very happy ! Now, he is coming back home from mine and he will go to speak with his cow ! And after, as usual, he will go to bed ! Again a good day , today !
Sajanzv
Sajanzv sees Darell trudging his way back from the mines, "Say, Darell, please do come to the taverns and share a drink with me, I promise I wont get you drunk. How is your cattle ranch doing? If you need buckets, please do ask me, I can sell you one at the lowest possible price."

[OOC] Darell, give me a time when you come online (please mention time zone as well) and I will post a bucket at 30p on the market then [/OOC]

Sierra had wanted to give Spar and Jill time alone since they were newlyweds, but thought that now might be a good time to have them over for dinner. She decided to make a little invitation for them just for the fun of it. She took out her quill and some pressed flowers to decorate:

Quote:
You Are Cordially Invited To Dinner!

When: February 7, 1455

Where: Sierrajane's house

Time: 6 o'clock

Come hungry and ready to have a good time!

She made out an invitation for Greg as well. After sealing the envelopes, she entrusted them with a messenger. Lady Catherine was excited as well about the prospect of entertaining.

"Sierra this was a fantastic idea! I'm going to walk to the market to pick up a few things we'll need and then we can start planning!"

Sierra laughed to herself softly. It was good to see her mother in better spirits. She then sat down to write a quick note to her brother to let him know they arrived safely and that mother was doing better.
