The Colony of Bath

Wins
wins wants to go on the road again but is waiting for his field to sell.

He has only touched it once since he arrived back in Bath almost a week ago and only to get his last harvest. It has been sitting there untouched since and he knows if it dosnt sell very soon he will take it off the market and prepare for another harvest, He isnt interested in doing that just yet so he will wait another couple of days and see what happens

So many people want to leave Bath? Looks like the golden age of our town is over... I sat thinking as I saw the long list of land for sale. Of late, less and less people I have seen in Bath, and I too, am considering a move elsewhere... Perhaps to a new land. Adventure beckons!

As I came through the door I looked both ways to see if she was nearby by. She wasn't so I went to the living room area where she usually did some of her work. I saw her and gave her a big smile. I stood there as she looked stunned for some reason.

Well I know I ain't the prettiest thing in the bunch but ye married me darlin.
Arcanejill
"OH! I certainly did!" Jill jumped into her husband's arms and met his lips with hers.

"I missed you love," she said when they finally broke.
Gregarious
Twists upon turns, the world was upside down. Ellsbeth, the national treasure of Bath had missed lowly Gregarious? A thought to hard to believe. This lady danced in other, higher circles. Gregarious softly clears his throat.

It is good to have you home Ellsbeth. Your letter gave me pause when you left, but I had to trust in your judgement and the grace of Jah. You're back now safe and sound. That is all I asked for. I am content.

My, but it is getting late. We should get you back home or would you prefer to go to the church first? I have a prayer of thanks to give and a little silver to leave.

She had missed him? But she was now of the church. So even if she meant more than she missed him.....no. You are deluding yourself sir. She is mearly tending to her flock, nothing more. She is a compassionate soul. She is wondrous. She is of the church.

Come gather your horse I will clean up and we might be on our way.

For s shining moment there had been something there. Now his heart sank and reality set in. His eyes seemed to turn steely grey as he turned from her.
ellsbeth
Ells is ripped from the comfortable silence of her reverie in his presence by the sound of his voice soft against her ear once more. She smiled wistfully for the moment that had just passed between them.

Her eyes met his as he spoke for a brief moment before she looked away once more. Her heart inside her chest beat frantically but it would of course not do to let him see the flush of her cheeks or the longing in her eyes.

She nodded her agreement to his gentle reminder that time was passing and they needed to be on their way home....it was her turn to shield stony eyes from his penetrating gaze when he mentioned the Church.
She drew in a sharp breath at his suggestion, torn deeply in her heart of hearts. How could she deal with the two at once. The Church and the Man who had made her doubt her devotion to it.
Ells turned to busy herself with Thunder as she wrestled with the idea of being in both their presence at once. She pretended to have not heard Greg's invitation as she fiddled with the leather straps. She was certain Father Xiax was gone for the day so at last she turned to consent to accompany him to the Church.

One thing was certain. She did need peace...and while she was not convinced this time that Church was where she could find that elusive feeling, although for that fleeting magical moment there in the woods she had almost grasped it. Ells did know she had answers to seek and that the Church was the best place to begin that journey.

She turned to find Greg standing over her waiting to help her up onto Thunder and she found herself biting her lip as she drew a breath and reached up in silence to touch his cheek once more, her eyes claiming his, hoping he can see all the things she cannot yet say, cannot allow herself to feel. Ells lowers her eyes and pulls her hand down, swallows and extends it to Greg to be lifted on to the waiting Thunder. She finds herself almost laughing as he tears her mind from her inner struggle by Lifting her at the waist and undecorously plopping her into the saddle.

She makes a half hearted protest as she sees the old twinkle back in his eye...and tosses him the reigns to lead the ebony beast she sits astride.

Ells tosses her fiery curls and with a mischevious chuckle she speaks...

Lead On M'Lord....Lead On whereever the Path leads.......
-fromENDarell
One week ago, it was Darell's promotion ceremony ! He was promoted as Pikeman ! What a great moment ! Darell remembers when he entered SAS a little more than one month ago ! In that time, he was shy and not very sure of himself, of how he wanted to manage his life ! It was like that, that one morning he decided to enroll in the SAS ! Now he is Pikeman, and serves as well as he can the SAS ! He knows that one day, the war will come in England, and he will have to battle under the flag of SAS !
For today, he is coming back from job, he cut wood all the day long and is very tired ! He will speak a little with Marguerite and after he will go to sleep in his field ! The night is so light and so nice, that he wants to look at the stars ! Again a good day spent !
Gregarious
Ah m'lady, that is an enticing invitation.

Where will the path lead? You would be amazed where you can end up, and all it takes is to put one foot in front of the other. I have found myself in the most interesting, the most fearsome, the most beautiful places without having consciously set out to find them.

I have been on paths in the deep woods that are dark and gloomy. They seem to offer nothing to entice you on, but just as they appear to come to and end, you turn a corner and glorious new vistas are presented. Enticing the senses and driving you on with a renewed lust for travel.

I have been on roads like the Romans built that appear to go on forever with no turns no corners no way to go but straight ahead. But every once in a while you come to a cross road that you could not see, hidden behind a hill or nestled by a copse of trees. The cross road offers a new and unexpected direction to travel. Down these roads have been some of my fondest adventures.

And the roads not yet travelled? I have seen roads high in the Pennines piercing the mountains, penetrating to unknown valleys. The thought of travelling them haunts me still. Some day perhaps, but for now they are out of reach. But I know there are routes to them. It is just a matter of time and searching for them.

Some day perhaps we attain our hearts desire. Don't you think m'lady?

I laughed a little afterwards. I then smiled at her. I came with an idea and gave her a evil grin.

Do ya want ta take a bath with me darlin or should I take one by meself?
Arcanejill
"After I've been left alone all this time, you think I want to let you do anything alone?" She grinned back.

"I'm so glad you're home love."
ellsbeth
Ells listens with a wistful smile as Greg leads Thunder beneath her and fills her ears with stories of places fierce and beautiful while at the same time filling her heart with hope that he too understands how life at times presents an unexpected and unsearched pathway in one's own backyard.

Yes M'Lord I do understand of your travels and I do understand how so often the thing we search the farthest ends of Jah's earth for lie in our very own backyard. How we seem to not notice them there. How suddenly one day for one brief moment in time if we are truly lucky enough to have our eyes opened to it that we walk out and find the opening to such a pathway there.

It is a path one never expected to step out and disover one day...but magically as if hidden by the faeries of the glade such paths do perhaps once in a lifetime appear. They appear only briefly and if you are not careful the opportunity to view them disappears as quickly and as quietly as it comes. You find yourself looking at the opening to the path as if it were a mirage.

You rub your eyes and wonder at your own sanity for a moment Beliving that such a Path was not there but Yesterday and could not possibly have happened overnight. You bite your lip and wonder should you trust that lil voice inside you that urges you to take that first step onto the path, and If you are truly brave you follow your heart and take the first breathless step into the unknown....

Ells voice wanders off....and she blushes softly...

I beg your forgiveness M'Lord for rambling on....twas the silly prattle of a female.

She looks down from her perch upon Thunder as Greg's eyes meet hers and she knows in that glance he Does understand...and that he too stands there with her on the precipice of the unknown.

Ellsbeth looks up to see the woods have given way to the meadow and just beyond on the horizon she can see the church. The dark hush of the woods opens into the bright afternoon light of a Spring day.

Ells shakes her fiery curls loose and the sun provides a shower of golden sparks as she moves on Thunder to rearrange herself in the saddle so she is no longer side saddle. She finds herself smiling brightly at the open meadow and leans down to ask Greg to Join her upon Thunder...

Come M'Lord...there is room for two....Let us ride!!

Greg looks up at Ells with that look he has bestowed upon her since day one when she announces some wild tangent she is off on at the moment and then he too laughs and she finds him straddling Thunder behind her in the saddle and his laughter rings in her ears as she leans so slightly into his chest behind her as she feels him dig his heels into Thunders flanks beneath them.

for the brief time it took to cross that meadow...almost flying...wind in their hair...sun upon their backs....the world was a perfect place.
Gregarious
Gregarious tried to catch his breath. Thunder was a magnificent animal, powerful and swift. It had been a long time since he could just let go and fly. The wind, the sun, the ground flashing past, he had not been so exhilarated since Jah knows when. Just riding for the pure pleasure. No paper work, no orders to be filled, no recruits to be assigned. For a moment it was just himself, the horse and the lady in front of him flying cross the glade.

Now the church is before them. The dash across the glade was over. The spell broken.

Well m'lady twas a pure pleasure this day. Will you be entering the church? I will be leaving my tithe and a quick prayer then I must head back to see how the training is going.

Thoughts spun in his head. Things he could not make sense of or control. He could not meet her eye but turned, offering her a hand to escort her to the church doors.

Tweetygirl
wow what a time to get sick, tweety mused to herself. she was sitting at home, feeling sick and down under the weather, i have to be going to my friend's wedding and i had to get sick, life in bath was continuing good, she was getting more and more friends everyday and her family was wonderful, i dont think im missing anything she thought, or am i?.

im too sick to be thinking about this now

she thought to herself, as she looked out her window, wondering what was going in in her town.

Sierra sat in fron of the fire with a letter in her hand. She sighed and set it down and stared into the flames. Her cousin Willie had finally written back and was unable to travel with her to Scotland at this time. He had apologized for not writing back sooner but with his abrupt marriage to Lady Avena, he had been quite preoccupied.

It was too bad the wedding had been so sudden. She would have liked to be there. It was always good to see family. Only Sparhawk lived in the same town as she, and lately he had not been around much at all. She had thought to take some time to visit relatives, but it never seemed to be a good time. She did not want to travel alone either...sigh, and then there was this business of a christening in Scotland she really should get to.

The town needed supplies for the upcoming war. She had been turning out a shield every day lately. It was good to help the town. She liked feeling needed and useful. There were so many citizens to arm and protect.

Her eyes started to become heavy and she yawned. She got up from her chair and slowly walked to the wash basin and splashed water on her face and dried it with the cloth nearby. She climbed into bed, blew out the candle on her table, and snuggled under the covers. In a moment, she was asleep.

What a great day for Darell, today ! He was promoted Corporal of the 3rd Squad in the SAS ! This evening, he spoke a lot with Marguerite, trying to explain her what are his new responsabilities !
Now, he is dreaming under the stars !
Again a good day spent !
